Before everyone gets too excited, in the U.S., the court would construe all that money as his. “Mrs. Smith, I see you get $1M a year. How is that money earned?” “Oh, my son earns that by working.” “Okay, so it’s his money. We’ll move on then.” This is Internet “One Little Trick Divorce Lawyers Hate” levels of dumb. And, BTW, it’s been tried before in child support cases, where ex husband deadbeat dads try to avoid having income by having it paid to someone else. Courts have seen it, they’ll work…

I’m sorry the truth doesn’t align with your worldview. You’re welcome to remain wrong your whole life. You’ll find it only harms you.

It’s not a myth, the gap is just routinely overstated. People who have been serious and careful in their studies still conclude that women are often paid less to do the same job than equally qualified men, based on the cultural assumption that men, not women, are the primary wage earners. So don’t say myth, say exaggeration. And don’t ask me to Google something you can very easily Google yourself.

I’ve never been in that dude’s shoes and I sure hope never to be. But I also hope that I’m a good enough person that I would still love, care for, and want to be in the life of this innocent, blameless little girl who has only ever known me as her father. I can’t fathom how you can spend 3 years raising a kid, with all the good and bad stuff that goes along with that, and then be able to just walk out of their lives. That the kid is not biologically yours doesn’t change any of the experiences yo…

None of which contradicts my point that all of this success you cite is in the past. Most of these folks aren’t even touring anymore. There’s no doubt a few of them were funny at one point. Hell, Gabriel’s stuff was even funny the first time I heard it. But he hasn’t developed anything new in years. My point was simply that these folks are not, at all, the best currently touring comedians. I don’t think you’d find anyone in the industry who would disagree with that.

Each of them did...years ago. Seinfeld doesn’t even do it anymore, if I recall correctly. And I don’t think I’d use “decimated crowds” as my measuring stick—Yakov Smirnoff is currently “decimating crowds” in Branson doing the same “in Communist Russia...” shit he wrote 2 generations ago.

You won’t because there’s no one who is actually currently funny on that list. Seinfeld hasn’t been funny since before Obama was President. Gabriel I. has basically a single joke: “I’m fat, here’s an impression of someone else.” Kevin Hart hasn’t turned down a single script since 2010 and I promise you, his family hasn’t seen most of them. The “be funnier” comment is actually a total non-sequitur. Everyone on this list has graduated from being funny for pay, to being famous for pay. Which, for t…

A rule every guy learns by fourth grade or so, and that most girls don’t ever have to learn.

I can't speak for everyone, but coming from someone with a hoped-for answer (550), my response would be to answer, send a pic, and then tell her I'm blocking her because I'm not interested in gold diggers. So, her model for success on this question is to find a shallow dude who will use his nice (leased) car to fuck her and never call again. Not too well thought out.

Yup, I guess that could happen. But where I again depart from this subReddit is that, if that happened, I'd just get another woman. I'd be sad about losing the love of my life. But I wouldn't decide that the whole female sex is a writhing mass of snakes. I wouldn't assume that my wife "owed me" sticking around as long as I wanted her to. And I certainly wouldn't delude myself into thinking that, as a white heterosexual Christian male, I was somehow a second-class citizen in this country. Cuz it …

Having done a few dozen divorces, being a lawyer and all, Imma hafta go ahead and disagree with you on that. But, again: don't let the facts get in the way of a good story you enjoy telling yourself.

You're right: I think thing like this don't happen. But then, I have a healthy relationship with a woman I love and routinely have sex with. Thus, I realize this isn't the subReddit for me.

Thank you. Of the billions of things that have ever not happened in this world, this is one of them. Among other things, the police response time claimed in the post demonstrates that. Also, the odds of walking out of a mall (which has a dozen or so exits, minimum) and using the one door that apparently looks like the escape scene from Reservoir Dogs is....highly unlikely. To say the least. But don't let the facts get in the way of a good story you enjoy telling yourself, I always say.

I'm sorry, did your post say "in the West?" No, it didn't. It actually says "in the history of the world." Also: is Australia (where the original article came from) "the West?" You've gone from wrong to pathetic---it's one thing to sponsor an incorrect idea, it's another to try to redefine the debate after you lose. Hopefully, next time, you'll be matched up against someone as bad at this as you are. In the meantime, enjoy your MensRights circlejerk and remember: your subreddit is only responsib…

Well, over a hundred girls every year die as a result of female genital mutilation, and the people who do the mutilating are almost never even charged with a crime, not to mention having to go to court, prove insanity (which they couldn't do), and spend time in jail. So, I guess I win, huh? You said you'd buy my argument if I could find even a single instance of a woman drilled by a man who cut off her genitals and got 3.5 years in prison or less. I've identified thousands of such cases. Doubtle…

I think that a man who proved to the court he was insane would get the same sentence. But then, I don't have a male persecution complex and I know a hell of a lot about criminal law. So we probably have very different points of view on this.

Good question. Ask all the countries who release people who are found insane. The technical legal answer to your question is that if you lack the capacity to understand what you did or conform your conduct to the law, then you lack the culpability required to jail you. But, far far far more important is this: this has nothing to do with her gender, or the gender of her victim. Which was what the contention was. And it's wrong. Also relevant: you don't know (because the article doesn't say) wheth…

Yeah, because the court decided she was insane at the time. I don't know what evidence the court considered to reach this decision. Do you? If you don't, are you just comfortable assuming that conclusion was wrong? I don't know how the law in Australia works, but in the U.S., if you get found not culpable by reason of insanity, you don't do time at all. Mental health hospital, and that's it. So, you're all up in arms over a result that sounds totally reasonable once you RTFA and set your bias as…
