the simplest technically not lying move is to talk confidently about plans or friends in the moment, maybe like mentioning a buddy who's grabbing drinks or another friend you just ran into, so it sounds natural without inventing anything coz people fill in the blanks and assume you're socially connected.

Speaking as a girl who's actually done this and lived the aftermath, yeah it does happen, but it's rare enough that it feels loud when it does.
