Go for it. Don't get me wrong, Okinawa is (from everything I've seen and heard) a really cool place. But you're in the military. Your perception will be different. Not needed, but making any effort to learn the language is a huge plus. They love it when you know even a few phrases and recite them. The language is very difficult to actually learn as a native English speaker. It takes serious commitment (read: 100s of hours to get to an elementary speaking/reading level). Yeah, that's the case. Unless you are black, because many locals are actually afraid of black people due to a long history of rape and murder stretching all the way back to WWII. I don't know. I can't change their gender and resubmit the same papers with the same professor and have him re-grade them objectively. I just know that based on the grading rubric, the 3 girls received unfairly high marks. I can't believe that someone with simple spelling mistakes deserves a higher point score on that section of the rubric than me when I had no spelling mistakes. That doesn't make sense.

I've experienced worse grades than girls in classes I've had when turning in consistently higher-level written papers. It's incredibly frustrating how hard it is to prove this sort of thing.

Ouch. I didn't say anything about her viewpoints. She's a terrible anchor. She frequently interrupts the people she's interviewing and isn't a good mediator when hosting multiple people. That's where my hate stems from. She's rude and unprofessional. She even does it on a couple of instances in this video, it's just not as a bad as usual-- presumably because she agrees with her guest on the major points.

Fair enough. Although, I hope for his sake that the Dean is more professional than this woman. Whoever is right or wrong, her response was glaringly inappropriate. I can't view anyone passively sitting in a wait room as harassment. If they couldn't meet with him that day a simple, "feel free to wait, but we may not get to you today." should have sufficed.
