It’s not all rosy and great, and yes people get abused AS IF the government owns them, but that’s wrong, and a huge affront to their constitutional rights. You’re still a citizen with all the rights that at anyone else has (with the Supreme Court’s stated exception for free speech when acting in official capacity, which would be no different than if you were working for a large corporation). Sadly, I’ve witnessed allowances being made for female student pilots that have trouble meeting standards. I personally know a female student pilot that crashed a trainer, not to mention being airsick every single flight, and still got her wings.
