I’m not who who you’re asking, but to me there is nothing “chump” about a dad doing what he needs to do to look out for his son and his son’s best interests.

I’ve checked out that subreddit and it’s basically nonexistent. The women post on r/Divorce, I think. If I’m honest, it’s a marginally healthier place with more balanced takes - probably because both genders participate. But this subreddit has its place, too…it depends what you need in the moment. (And I almost never comment here.) These places can easily become echo chambers…it’s just how it goes.🤷🏻‍♀️

Absolutely. You’re exactly right and it’s (in my mind) a huge, huge problem that the narrative has become what it is. Equality and equity are two different things. We’ve always been using the word “equality” wrong…and it distracts us and makes us connect worse rather than better. I dare say that’s true not only for gender. Another thing is that we need to stop over-generalizing (as a society). Even I need to stop that; I catch myself doing it sometimes. But like, using your example - I am a woma…

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted…I’m a woman, and I think most of this is accurate. The only part that I disagree with is where you say women don’t care about what men do for them, they only care about how he makes them. I think it’s inaccurate, but I can understand how men would interpret women this way. The reality, as far as this particular statement is concerned, is that women don’t need to depend on a man now (as you said) so they can look for other ways in which a partnership fulfills…

I commented this too but then look at this guy’s post history. He’s a nutcase LOL. I would not take this too seriously.

I’d say break it off. If she’s perfect except for her size and your eyes are already wandering, let her go. Don’t set yourself up for failure (infidelity, where you’re the WS). But I also have question for you. Do you think your eyes are wandering because she’s too fat for you, or are your eyes wandering because the sex isn’t good enough to satisfy you? Because if it’s just the latter, then that’s something you can potentially fix. She may be insecure about her weight (justifiably, apparently) a…

Well I’m on this forum because I’m interested in the perspectives of divorced men since they make up 90% of my available dating pool at my age. And because it’s a free country, I guess. But I normally don’t comment. You’re probably right. In my marriage, I earned 90 cents of every marital dollar and in every relationship I’ve been in, I was the higher earner and the more frugal partner as well. So perhaps in reality I should thank you for your advice in the OP and take it!

I do get the point behind this, but as a woman I’d never agree to pay rent to my husband’s parents long-term like this without my name on anything. Live with his parents rent-free, sure. Or being able to save all my own money while husband pays rent to his parents for the property he’ll inherit/get - definitely would consider that. And I do get where your post is coming from. I’d 100% do a prenup and decide everything up front because it’s true, you never know, and it’s better to discuss it all …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
