Yeah for a while, but I think you could find someone and enter into that relationship with an escape clause. As in, keep track of who owns what and keep it very separate. Personally I am far beyond an age where children are involved. Financially, I could rationalize it this way; if I survived my current marriage with half, I'd need to meet someone that also had half. Marriage is day to day pretty good, but there are some significant issues that I have a real hard time living with. I have tried many strategies with some success, but leaving is the best option. However, do I want to torpedo the good parts, and pay a very significant penalty in term of asset loss? I am retired and have no plans or ability to rebuild any lost equity. She has said she has absolutely no interest and finds the notion of sex painful. Which it is for her I have no doubt.
