I'm actually in a similar situation where the girl texts a lot. It's difficult to set things up since we both work and have a distance between us. Since the texting is somewhat inevitable, try and show off your life at the same time. Take pictures and selfies of interesting things you're doing, it helps show some value and will keep things at least a little more interesting.

Hey, 22 y/o University student. You're in college so joining clubs/organizations is a great way to meet people. The good thing about clubs is that there are plenty of people that are also looking to socialize/hook up. If this is the case, you should definitely be going out. You're young and you want to get out there right? Then go do it. It's only as awkward as you make it and to be honest a wingman is only good if you two have a lot of synchrony. Otherwise go out alone and talk to everybody, you'll meet a lot of people and it won't look awkward if you're the guy giving everyone hi-fives or hugs or compliments. Just remember that you're there to have a good time and it'll happen.
