Yes, that is a common reason for young Indians to get married. However, my dad has pretty much made it clear that I don't need to worry about shit like that, and the only reason to get married should be my future well-being. I pointed out the regressive laws currently in place (even sent him the Man Paradise video lol). To his credit, he looked into it but strongly believes NAWALT.

Thanks for the input. The thing is, my dad is my role model and always has been. His stand has always been that it's my decision to take, but he's really concerned about how I'd cope once they are gone (they live in India so that's another issue). Maybe I'm still stuck in the traditionalist mindset but I'm a little skeptical of the older guys here (no disrespect meant) when they say they can survive with no companionship whatsoever in their later years.
