I was recently at a large chalk drawing festival, with artists from all over the United States, almost all of whom were college age women. One of my daughters asked me, "why are they all girls, are they better at drawing?" I said, "I don't know." I don't know, was I supposed to say, "When a 21 year old woman goes to her parents and says she'll be traveling around the country all summer going to art festivals, mommy and daddy indulge her and financially support that ... but if a young man wanted …

I certainly appreciate the debate, and I think your position is arguable. I definitely do not think we have a firm answer on certain aspects of evolutionary psychology. I still do not see merely "recognizing emotions" (ex. "My husband appears to be angry!") as ""empathy" ("I can tell that he's angry, not because of his facial expression and demeanor, but because I would feel angry if I was experiencing what he was experiencing, and it makes me angry just seeing it!") That said, I need to think o…

In principle, I agree with you: However, we can't even get them to accept the fundamental moral precept "even if some, or even, many men in the past oppressed women, it is unjust to punish or hold it against the men of today, something which they didn't do." They can't even feel empathy or open-mindedness for people who they can see aren't hurting them from firsthand experience; they're not going to keep an open mind about how much they can trust a portrayal of history (which happens to convenie…

Yes, the original feminists were rich women, because they were jealous of the rich men. Poor women and poor men both had their battles to fight: men had back-breaking labor and fighting other tribes or in wars --- women had the extreme danger and pain of child birth prior to modern medicine. (The widespread acknowledgement of these facts are recorded in the Book of Genesis: G-d's punishment for the sons of Adam is said to be that he must toil to make his living by the sweat of his brow, and for …

It's a mainstream sentiment that women are empathetic, but it's not quite true. Empathy means "actively sharing and feeling the emotions of another person from their perspective"---ie "feeling with"... as opposed to sympathy, which is caring about someone's problems, but not experiencing them---"feeling for." Women imagine themselves to be more empathetic, because for various reasons (primarily explainable through evolutionary psychology), it is very easy for women to feel empathy---with another…

That's like asking: "Which is more damaging, a flash flood which puts water in your basement as a result of an extreme storm ... or a slow but steady, unstopping stream of water infiltration which washes away your house's foundation?" One appears to be more extreme (and attention grabbing), but in the long run they are equally damaging, perhaps the latter even harder to fix.

There is literally a sub (r/SeriousGynarchy) which has female superiority as its primary thesis, with hefty helpings of ideas for mistreatment of men. I have reported it to Reddit several times. The fact that Reddit would (rightfully) NEVER tolerate an open "superiority" group for literally any other demographic group, let alone men, proves your point.

Yesterday, my youngest daughter was watching Fuller House on Netflix. One of the adult women was talking to a teen girl about relationship drama of some sort, and the mother says, "So, what did you learn about boys from this experience?" Teen girl: "They're idiots!" "The womb is the limiting factor to reproduction in societies, making women more reproductively valuable, so it made sense for societies to preserve women while treating men as more expendable (2/10)." As for the contention: " Any movement will have its share of extremists, haters, and bad actors. That is correct: The Feminist orthodox line would be that she was telling the truth in the first instance that she was raped, but her mother is full of internalized misogyny and got ahold of her and convinced her to lie by saying that she lied.

As a male English/literature major, I can tell you, 80-90% of English/literature majors are women, and 85-95% of them are liberal ... literary criticism classes are AS feminist as gender studies classes. The reaction of the hero/protagonist of the play, Benedick, to hearing that song is: "And he had been a dog that should have howled thus, they would have hanged him." So is Shakespeare's opinion what Balthasar sings, or Benedick's reaction? Neither one. Benedick is eavesdropping on Don Pedro and Balthasar, but they know he's eavesdropping, and the song is part of their plot to get Benedick together with Beatrice, by shaming him into taking her more seriously as a potential wife. Actual point: it…

Not familiar with her jurisdiction (NY), but most criminal courts have a day scheduled just to appear and enter a plea (guilty, not guilty, or ask for a continuance). If the plea is Not Guilty, that's all that happens that day. A subsequent day is set for a scheduling conference or pre-trial conference, to determine whether there are outstanding pre-trial issues and to set a date for a trial. In other words, I doubt if you can really infer much of anything from whatever happened this week.

White people are about 60% of the US population, so 59.1% of violent crime arrests is pretty in line with that. The rape arrest numbers and the offenses against the family are slightly higher--- not a lot higher, but slightly higher---but still irrelevant to whatever point they think they're making. " But it is not misandry, the motivation of the crime she committed is not that he is a man and that she hates men. " If this is your logic, then rape of women or violence against women should not be used by Feminists as evidence of a misogynist or Patriarchal culture, because the motivation of the crime is rarely hatred of women, but rather women opportunistically are capable of being victims of those crimes (just as OP was capable of being a target of this false accusation). Women who like men are the actual minority. Go look up the recent New Statesman survey: 72% of young men view women favorably 35% of young women view men favorably 7% of young men view women very negatively 27% of young women view men very negatively As a general tendency, women are more susceptible to social trends and social influence ... and spend more time on social media ... and the misandrist brainwashing has been very effective.

Thank you. As an older man, I often think about how bad it must be for young men, growing up in a society which largely disadvantages you; calls you worthless, trash, rapist, monster, animal, useless etc; but then also that you're privileged and inherently benefit and support Patriarchy just by existing. I do believe if enough women stood up to misandrist women, the social cost to the bitter/crazy ones who push this stuff would be high enough that it would make a difference.

This is sadly true. We literally need to call them child soldiers for Feminists to think of it as wrong. Yes. I have pointed out to Feminists, you can't say "95% of rape perpetrators are male"---if you are using conviction rates for that figure, as if you trust and accept conviction rate numbers---then also claim (as they do), that "1 out of 4 women are raped, the perpetrators are just not charged and convicted." I'm sorry, you are not factually, statistically, or objectively correct that rape results from unfulfilled sexual desire. There is no evidence to suggest that people who have been celibate are more likely to rape, nor evidence to suggest people who are highly sexually active are less likely to rape. In Ukraine, about 60% of voters are women. The fact that in the supposedly deeply Patriarchial past, that physical violence against men was largely considered acceptable on a macro-scale, and/or indifference to the safety and bodily integrity of men was the norm, seems to indicate humans (men and women) are just mostly ok with treating men as disposable relative to women. A Feminist would say the B…

They are completely unbothered by so-called radical Feminists. Every other ideology is expected to excommunicate the radicals, or be guilty by association ... but for some reason, Feminists feel they turn a deaf ear. I appreciate your willingness to question "modern feminism," but I would recommend the videos of Janice Flamenco on the history of feminism. It has been completely white-washed now, but the suffragettes in the UK used terrorist firebombing to support getting voting rights. There's a case to be made that they actually DELAYED women getting the vote. It's also never mentioned that universal suffrage for men in most countries was not far apart from women voting. The thing is, Feminism has been a di…

Look up Janice Flamenco's stuff on the history of Feminism. The central thesis of Feminism is that men are inherently oppressors and that women are inherently their victims. It's not reconciliable with any ideology which conflicts with that premise. (That is why it's so important for them to refer to The Patriarchy, instead of Oligarchy--- the Bad Guys must be masculine-coded.) Fortunately, believing that women ought to have equal legal rights as men is NOT unique to Feminism, but is a basic pre…

This is the actual answer. Aside: that said, I don't believe there is any possible system of leadership which would not be called The Patriarchy by Feminists. They feel no need to define what is or is not a Patriarchy or what a non-Patriarchy would be, so it's fundamentally impossible to disprove. For example, I once had an argument with a Feminist who said something in the course of a list of grievances of horrible things created by male leaders including "concentration camps." The common denominator linking every wave of Feminism from the very beginning has been the devout belief in female moral supremacy. Why do you think there is the insistence on The Patriarchy as a unifying conspiracy theory? The evil power which controls everything can't just be the Oligarchy or the Bourgeois. Men have not been socially primed and conditioned to view themselves or present themselves as sexual victims. Even most women, if asked "have you been sexually assaulted?" will say no. Women have to deal with a lot that men don't which sucks for them. To be clear, it in no way justifies the misandry of our age. I've really been thinking a lot lately about a comment Janice Flamengo made recently in response to Hanna Spiers asking her why women seem to have such trouble feeling empathy for men ... So in other words, tax men who aren't able to pass on their own genes to be able effectively subsidize the sex lives of a minority of men to have sex as much as they want without responsibility, and the ability of women who rejected the men paying for this to be able to pass on those women's genes? THEY made the value judgment: 1000 people isn't enough to get clicks. Better juice it up so women can share and comment and say "yes all men. Facebook is beyond toxic. Recently, I have been posting a link to the Snopes article debunking the "62 million men rape academy" thing, and the most common response is for women to say, "found one"--- meaning obviously you're a rapist if you point out misinformation (so I guess that makes Snopes rapists ... idk, they might actually think that). They say it's 10,000 years of oppression, and believe there was an ancient Matriarchy utopia ruled by Mother Goddess worship which men ruined with proto-Capitalism/Patriarchy. And no, I'm not kidding. Also, unfortunately, many of them do have children, whom they are deep into screwing up psychologically, fresh off their divorces in which they had to "carry the mental load" and "mankeep," etc. There's not much hope. "Oh yeah, well, women get RAPED and that's the WORST thing that can happen!" ((Therefore, when it comes to being oppressed we WIN.)) That is true, but not nearly as much as you might think. And enforcement (or lack thereof) or manner of enforcement also often matters as much as the policy. I still think it's more a cultural issue. Being surrounded by feminists who talk about Patriarchy in a blue city in a red state is going to feel more misandrist than living in a small town in a blue state, much of the time.

The state vs state narrative is highly deceptive when it comes to cultural issues, like misandry. A rural area in a "blue state" has much more in common with a rural area in a "red state" than it does a major city a few hours away. Region or city is what you'd have to look at, not "state."

Tell them, here's a statistic for you: sexual assault has decreased more than 50% in the last 30 years. So if you want to stand on statistics, are you prepared to concede the last two generations of men, in general, have been drastically less violent and/or misogynist than ever before?

Lumping sexual harassment and assault together is already a deliberately misleading use of statistics. Getting wolf-whistled at one single time in one's lifetime should not be statistically equated with aggravated indecent assault. Doing so renders these types of quotes meaningless.

I honestly don't really mind the first slide that much, as it is tough to psychologically grapple with the fact that the world does actually appear to be run by a cabal of pedophiles. That's absolutely right. Do you know how shocking it would be to find, in an AP World Cultures textbook, [Some dude] wryly observed, 'There would be peace in the Middle East if we just used nuclear weapons to turn Israel and Palestine both to glass!" People wouldn't be like ... "oh, it's just an evocative hypothetical ..." They'd be saying WTF is this comment doing here!? But no, this is publishable, because it's misandry, so it's OK.

I'm getting sick of arguing with women online who say things like, "Feminists aren't saying all men are rapists!" And I say, "They literally are." "You can't name one!" "Men are rapists, batterers, plunderers, killers." - Andrea Dworkin Then what? "She's not True Feminist"? Then cast her out. Renounce her. I think if you read almost anything written before the mid-20th century, what you might call "patriarchy" pretty clearly existed primarily because before birth control and modern medicine and formula, women were pregnant much of their adult lives, and semi-incapitated with the complications of pregnancy and nursing, so they basically were not able to "go out into the world" and "fight"---plus since they are on average physically weaker, as you point out---it made less sense to divide that labor …

Aside from everything else stupid about that comment ... "The Y chromosome has less DNA" part really gets me ... It's actually worse than a 5 year old's sense of justice. A 5 year old might want to hit someone for hitting, or maybe even slighting them----but most 5 year olds would intuitively grasp that it would be wrong to hit other people next to the person hit them, because they didn't stop them fast enough ... or to hit someone for resembling the person who hit them ... or hit someone because someone who looked like them hit their mother or grandmother when she was in kindergarten ... etc. Earlier this…

Sometimes, I think like ... do they have little books like a Small Catechism, that just have all these phrases they repeat like creeds or mantras ... like, I picture a woman with a septum ring, standing in front of rows of pews of women with blue hair, and she goes: "Misandry doesn't exist!" and they all say in unison: "But if it does, it's a justified response to misogyny!" The last known lobotomy occurred in 1967, and the procedure was rare by the 1960s. It was a horrible, misguided thing. But more than 40% of the victims were men. Maybe 50,000 people were lobotomized in the US total ... barely more than the number of men who commit suicide in the US in one year. Single women have always been able to own their own property in the United States. Laws allowing married women to legally own property were passed in every US State by 1900. It's also common in those threads for the high libido male to "try romancing his wife again," only to consistently get shot down again and again anyway, because "he just wants sex, " ie his motive apparently isn't pure enough. (As if that wasn't part of his motives at the beginning of the relationship!) I think part of the "romance" in early relationships is tension and anxiety, combined with some degree of fantasizing ... and you're just never going to recapture that with someone with whom you'…

"Women want to have men in their lives, they are not maliciously trying to torture men, but well, it’s not that simple." The prevailing sentiment on social media seems to be that women wish all men on earth would disappear, and that that women should "decenter" or "disassociate" from men. There are numerous comments on numerous recent posts in this subforum saying that. Relevant to the OP's struggle: hypothetically, a "nice guy" would respect the sentiment and completely avoid women.

No one is subservient to anyone else, and no one should be treated as subservient to anyone else. In any context. So I fundamentally disagree with you on that. I do believe that, in many cases, the better you treat your partner over a long period of time, the more they take you for granted, and that may lead to you being treated worse by them. For example, if one partner (stereotypically but not always the woman), is content with a dead bedroom, but feels very assured that because her husband is…

Because many/most men are hardwired to desire the respect and affection of women, or at least their approval in some way. Women aren't really attracted to men, in general, outside of being socialized to be, so because they don't experience having a deep longing for the opposite sex, they don't seem to get/understand the experience of men, and are inclined to attribute it to men being inherently bad or lacking.

One of the sadder things I've come to terms with is that women are not really attracted to men. In the past this was handled through "needing" men economially, and more recently, extreme socialization. On a societal level, now that those things are gone or receding--- which I agree is equitable to the individual woman---I don't know what's going to happen. Almost certainly the gradual extinction of the species coupled with an intensification of the oft-touted "male loneliness epidemic." On an in…

I hear you, but do you get what I'm saying that once you know that these sentiments exist and are at least *somewhat* widespread, the possibility has been introduced into your mind that most women feel this way and just know better than to say it out loud in person---that thought can never really completely go away?

Yes. I agree with the OP's premise, but it reminds me of the thing women say, "if men got pregnant and had to give birth, they'd never be able to handle it"--- I've always thought---ok, well, that's a logically impossible hypothetical, because if men could get pregnant and give birth, then they'd basically just BE women. Here, the power imbalance-- which is indeed distressing to men, I have definitely experienced that myself--flows from intrinsic characteristics of the sexes. Like ... if women h…

I'm willing to bet if you could somehow magically completely accurately tabulate the number of men whose idea of a relationship being only sex, vs. the women in long-term relationships who would just as soon not have sex with their man again ... it would not support the implication here that it was women being honest and up front about where the relationship would go ....

Absolutely agree. I used to go to the gym every day for years, never once heard anyone engaging in talk about sex. The MOST graphic thing might have literally, "hey did you see the girl in the really tight teal shorts?" and then some chuckles. NEVER heard anything remotely like a certain politician's infamous claim about "locker room" talk. On top of that, I have NO clue anything about my friends' sex lives ... how often, what they like, who's happy ... whereas my wife very clearly has made refe…

It is simply not true to say: " ... she's opting out (from guys like that, not all guys) ..." Very few are saying: "I'm holding out for the right guy" Women in these spaces loudly and routinely and explicitly say that they hate ALL men, and VERY rarely do other women confront them on the basis that hating people based upon an immutable physical characteristic which you did not choose and cannot change is wrong. The very negative psychological effect which it has on men--- which I think is what t…

I have often said to online "feminists" that if the female equivalent of KillAllMen had been a hashtag, every one who posts it would be banned, rather than it getting hundreds of thousands or millions of likes and shares. The responses are usually: (1) literally no response (2) "but you can't expect women to ignore thousands of years of oppression" (3) "men get their feelings hurt by misandry, but you're literally killing us" No amount of arguing the lack of logic or ethics behind those response…

The first part of this response is basically saying, "if men were women, then they'd be women" ... so ... yes? How you even get the implication that the fact that men have very high sex drives--- much higher than you, as a woman can probably understand---logically leads to the conclusion that "women should be forced into endless pregnancies" is beyond me. "The notion that it okay for men to pursue sex at all costs is wrong"--- it certainly is, and nowhere can you find anything even vaguely like …

Women get pleasure from sex - probably/possibly generally true, but not accounting for if a woman does orgasm, it is much stronger and longer, and she has potential to be able to keep going (and men generally can't without a refractory period) As a man, I am jealous of the female orgasm, as it seems clearly better. Or at least curious. Self-esteem boost - probably true Reputation- mostly true, but culturally dependent and arguably influx True - sex is riskier for women for a variety of reasons, …

I've never been called "creepy" or a "creep" by a woman to my face, but I would have no way of knowing if any have said that behind my back, anymore than you would. Regardless, I don't know what women think, but I find it creepy to say things like, "I don't exercise control over her, I'm just saying I could ..." It's not really my role to judge your situation though, or to personalize something in a forum involving a general question, so to that extent, I apologize.

If you mean that literally, yes, men should not be "constantly" doing it, nor should they be "pressuring" women. But if you mean men should stop pursuing sex with women as much as they do, because it's illogical for them to do so, because it's often a disappointment after all, and, as they say the juice is often not worth the squeeze--- that basically not going to happen. Part of this thread, which I don't think women appreciate, is that while sex is not a "need" for men--- which I agree, it's d…

I just read an excellent article by Richard Reeves on this point, which I quote: "Usually, progressives are reluctant to ascribe too much responsibility to individuals for their problems. If someone is obese, or commits a crime, or is out of employment, the progressive default is to look first to structural, external causes. This is a valuable instinct. It is all too easy to blame individuals for structural challenges. But there is one group that progressives do seem willing to blame for their p…

The fundamental flaw to that philosophy is that it completely fails if you want to have children. Once you have children, it becomes almost impossible to set boundaries/assert control in a relationship without indirectly punishing the children to at least some degree ... and if you are unwilling to accept less than primary physical custody, you also no longer have the ultimate hypothetical means of control (ie "just leave her"). This is still all kinds of wrong. That "1 out of 3 study" includes "emotional abuse" in the context of a relationship. That is not applicable to this context. You find a study which says 1% (or more) of all male-female encounters in society result in serious assaults. So every man who's been near you at the store, on the way to work, at the mall, at a concert-- any place you ever go--- really truly believe more than 1% of them are seriously physically assaulting you, such as to be more harmful t…

Neither one of those statements are true. But set that aside a moment --- more importantly, neither addresses the reasonableness of choosing a bear over a man. About 1% of bear-human interactions lead to serious attacks. That's not very many, but do you really believe that 1% of the men you casually run into in life try to assault you?

Bull. One of the primary rationales for the intense hate directed at men on social media is that we're guilty by association for not doing enough to overthrow rape culture and the patriarchy. Most men prefer sex in relationships because they're unlikely to get sex outside of a relationship because they aren't attractive enough to do so. (Said as an unattractive man.) There is no way on earth "most people" have casual sex when they are single. I don't know if that's true for women or not, but for most men, being single means no sex. For a small minority of men, it means a lot of sex.

The "reward" is really more lack of social sanction that it is a reward. For example, the day before yesterday, I reported a comment on Instagram, in a "feminist" thread in which a woman said, "I can't wait to go on a manhunting spree and unalive some sperm makers." After review, that comment was NOT deleted.
