When a teacher asks you to leave their classroom, you pack your shit up and leave. If they were in the wrong, you have a conversation about it with administration. Sitting in your seat when asked to leave is just stupid. When a police officer gives you a lawful order, you follow it. Resisting arrest because "my teacher is in the wrong" is plain stupid. I've been trying to regulate my sleep based on sunrise and sunset recently, but when you live well north of the Equator it can be very impractical. In the city I currently live in sunrise varies from 4:45 AM to 9:00 AM at the respective solstices. As cities in Western Canada go, I am not even that far north either.

A doctor can refuse an elective procedure to anyone pretty much at their own discretion. Sometimes people want elective procedures that might do them more harm than good, and doctors are bound by the Hippocratic Oath not to carry out such procedures. Of course "doing harm" can be fairly subjective, and some doctors consider rendering a young, fertile person infertile doing harm.

If I am not mistaken alimony is calculated based on the income of both parties at the time of divorce. If OP just graduated medical school he probably isn't making the big bucks yet. If she had managed to maintain self-control for another 12 months to two years, this would have worked.

I find it genuinely funny that you can set up trusts such that you don't actually own anything that is yours, and that that could be desirable in some cases. Our legal and financial systems are so far removed from reality that it is genuinely funny, if a bit disturbing.

A complicated series of trusts and LLC's so that you don't own anything. I actually laughed when I read this. It's an interesting read though. But don't worry, I decided marriage was a bad idea before I started reading the stories on this sub. Sounds like any decent lawyer could pick apart most pre-nups then. What about a clause where the spouse acknowledges that there may be other undeclared assets under a certain set value? I mean, at some level you must be able to have them sign a piece of paper that completely partitions your finances such that there isn't any jointly-owned property in the first place, if they are foolish enough to sign it. Or would a judge just throw that out?

I understand that pre-nups can be overturned. But if your spouse signs a contract that basically says if I leave you, you don't get alimony or any portion of assets x, y, and z that you acknowledge I had before we were married, how can a judge overrule that? Surely if it is correctly written the contract is binding. Not that I have any intention of getting married, I had already toyed with the idea and come to that conclusion long before I found this subreddit.

More like marriage generations. Marriage has been the norm for thousands of years of human history. From a historical perspective this change marks a pretty significant shift in the way the people approach relationships. From an evolutionary perspective, it just seems kind of inevitable really.

You and /u/MattyAnon aren't entirely wrong, just take it from someone who is finishing up a biochem degree that genetics don't quite work that way. There aren't genes for "cheating scheming women" though there may be genes that predispose women to that general kind of behavior, and there are always other factors.

Well, it isn't unreasonable to claim that they are contributing to unemployment or underemployment of women by taking work away from female models. To be fair, the last Pope was the one that actively worked to cover up child molestation during the time he was Cardinal.
