Men who won't do stuff and go places are so frustrating. My two most recent exes was the type to frequently say "We should do X or Y sometime" and then never take steps to actually plan or do the thing.

Aahh my last ex. My college boyfriend, I definitely did have fun with him at the time, but we dated almost 3 years and he never wanted to move out of his parent's place. Literally a basement dweller. Started a bunch of hobbies (learning to play piano, drums, coding, etc) that always died out within days or weeks. Despite having a decent job, preferred not to move away from mummy dearest who would cook and clean for him--used the excuse that he's "saving up" (no he wasn't). Had friends that were …

You're not wrong, I guess my "help a potentially suicidal person" side won over my "eat these vegan chicken wings" side. You're right! I should get something out of this lol.

No the business was legit (he wanted to start an online class for one of his skills), he just never had any customers. Mostly due to it being a niche skill and him not being a great instructor and trying to take on EVERY facet of that himself (i.e. doing his own social media marketing as a person who has never used social media). We're going to see if we can look at his statements and card info to see where that money is going.

I've heard so many horror stories of women moving in with their boyfriends and being stuck in lockdown. I'm so blessed and grateful that my HVM boyfriend and I met. He's been my rock during this insane year, and I absolutely love living with him. If I moved in with my ex I would NOT have had the same experience lol. Everytime I see memes or posts complaining about asinine behavior from male partners, I feel bad for the poster but I also #CANTRELATE cause I knew my partner had his shit together b…

Marina and the Diamonds: Starring Role (about being fed up and leaving a LVM) Waterparks: Lucky People (a cute and wholesome love song to a HVW) "Burn" from Hamilton is a great "fuck you" song! Downtown Fiction: Thanks for Nothing (its a bop lol!) "This is Me" from the Greatest Showman is a BIG MOOD for getting me out of my funks! Hailee Stenfield: Love Myself (title speaks for itself!) If you have a spotify playlist I'd love to follow it!

Oh god yes, it took me years to realize I was sexually assaulted. There was no penetration so thats why I didn't see it as sexual assault at the time. This is a super-brief summary of what happened: I was NOT dating or romantically involved with him, we were friends in our freshman year of college. He was 6'2 to my 5'5, and he laid down on top of me on his bed, started making out with me, took off his pants and masturbated on top of me to completion while kissing my neck. I just became super sti…

YES!!!! The stark differences between Bill (the ex husband) and Cal (the new flame) are incredible. Cal definitely is a HVM in the first season.

Live your wildest fantasies! No, seriously! If you've been feeling closed off or stagnant or lost, give yourself permission to go lowkey buckwild. For me, it was about thinking "What do I want to do?" Do some self-introspection and find out "No, seriously, what do I want?" You can want to feel a feeling (I want to be excited) you can want a food (I'm craving a cheesecake) you can want to be pampered (oh my god I would LOVE to get my feet rubbed rn) you can want to fall asleep in a hammock after …

Dating apps in general are so weird! The more I think about them, the more I hate everything about them. I'm in a relationship, my current partner is a HVM and we're living together, I just downloaded Tindr last week to see how much its changed since the 6ish years I've been on it. I didn't even swipe right on anyone (swipe right is the "like" one right? idr) and after 5 minutes I realized I hate everything about this, every single profile I hated, its so MECHANICAL and shallow and BAD. No thank…

Holy shit really? She can have her own wages garnished because her husband won't pay child support?? WTF I wonder if finding that out is what prompted her to call in... a fire was lit under HER because her deadbeat husband isn't doing shit.

Having dated a man that had a poor relationship with his mom (through what I can see, little fault of her own) vs one who loved and respected her, the difference is night and day. If you get serious with a LVM, his family might become a burden to manage. If you get serious with a HVM, his family might become a second family to you. I'm not saying that bad parental relationship causes/exacerbates lv tendencies, but theres some correlation. I wonder if there'a any science that asks this question.

How much do you think a divorce between his parents affects a LVM vs a HVM?

I love this! I've dated a few people where we had a great time at first--but after a few months it became clear that although they were respectful of my boundaries, they didn't meet my standards. It took a while for me to recognize that feeling and even longer for me to figure out how to break things off. I mean, I couldn't just come out and say the words "You don't meet my standards." Sounds inherently shallow and selfish, doesn't it? But honestly.... yeah. At the end of the day, thats exactly …

Thats what it is, at the end of the day. Emotional immaturity. Stunted personal growth. Deciding "Nah, I have better things to do with my life than remain in a will-he-won't-he limbo" is so freeing. If he really wanted you to be a big part of your life, he would act like it--explicitly and treating you with full respect.

Taking care of someone when they need you, not because you're obligated to but out of the goodness of your own heart and sheer love for them--- that's true love to me.

I'm working on this too. You're not alone. Though I think its a bit unfair that its seen as up to ME to fix our tense relationship, and it feels like he's not putting in nearly as much emotional labor into it as I am. My dad is disabled so its not as cut and dry as saying that he's a deadbeat or mooch or leech, he does need assistance from my mom and I and always has. And I think that some of the tension between us is that he hates having to rely on his mom and daughter for help because he will …

Omg same... "future fakes" is putting into words what I Always had a problem with with certain exes, but I could never pin down the right words to describe it. Like, 3 years without committing to moving in, now 2 years without seeing him as a confident marriage choice, etc. Like damn, there's so much I missed out on because the guy I'm dating never "feels like it."

Full article, absolutely worth a read: Female Assertiveness: Stop Resolving the Tension Growing up, I always considered myself a "people pleaser." My self-esteem came from being called "nice," "sweet," "generous." Those are good compliments, sure, but I was constantly bending over backward to accomodate everyone else at the expense of my own sanity, money, time, and general well-being. Coming across this article was a slap to the face. If anyone can relate, this article is a worthy read.

It happened to me! I met my boyfriend through a reddit sub for hooking up-- he posted about wanting to be dominated, I was riding my post-break-up-high and wanted to have some no-strings-attached fun, so we talked for a few days (and began discussing boundaries and no's from the very first message) and we met up at a coffee place to see if we got along in person (we did). We communicated pretty well during the hookup--he listened to my no's (don't touch my hair, your elbow is digging into my leg…
