Np. Basically the thought is, because you've signed a marriage contact you're agreeing that, even if you purchase something for yourself with money you made at your job, that contract states anything that you bring into the relationship is for the both of you or for the home. You both benefit from things and as a married couple you're both legally the owner and have the right to the item. So yeah. It is complicated. But it has purpose.

Well imma start with with IANAL. But this took place in California, and basically since they didn't have a prenup, during divorce they're to split their assets. To do so fairly both parties are legally required to disclose all assets. Basically courts require spouses to disclose finances to prevent unfair settlements. To hide anything is breaking the law. Unfortunately, punishing things like this would incentivize actual rape victims not to get help. If there's not enough evidence to convict does the victim have to go through the same thing? As a rape victim myself who never reported because I was too scared, that'd only have made it worse.
