Exactly. It makes me feel sorry for the girls I hit on back when I was awkward and didn't know what the fuck I was doing.

You would think that, but it can be quite uncomfortable. There are creepy gay guys just like there are creepy straight guys. Being hit on by a smoith, charming gay man can be quite the ego boost. Being hit on by a weird, creepy gay man is excruciatingly awkward.

Crazy, Stupid Love. Like 45 minutes of the movie is Ryan Gosling teaching Steve Carell how to pick up, plus bonus Emma Stone. Also just about any early Tom Cruise movie (Cocktail and Top Gun are my favs). Also, bumps to Archer and Californication.

If a guy is trying to come at my girl and I want to shut him down I usually go for the ego. Calling him kid or son works extremely well.

I was assuming that you were far enough into the encounter to not be considered a "stranger" and that some comfort and attraction has already been built. I wouldn't just stop some random woman walking past and ask her to sit in my lap. That shit's just creepy.

Im usually not worried about saving face since I'm in alpha mode, but if it goes that horribly wrong I either tease her about it or excuse myself to the bar for another round.

"Have a seat" and pat my lap as an invitation. This one is so money. Even more money if she does when there are other seats available.

The biggest thing I've learned from here is touch early, and touch often. When I first started, making that first physical contact was terrifying, but I no longer find it awkward.

I still struggle with this one.

I've been in a similar situation, but she was 40 and I just turned 25. First off, you are absolutely correct in assuming she's extra crazy. If you're cool with that, I would just treat her like you would any other chick. Take her to a dive bar, some place she'd never go normally. Just giving her some attention, and not being intimidated by her status will get you very far. Be warned though, she will probably want a serious relationship very quickly, so get what you can before the shit hits the f…

ClawShrimpSlayer is pretty spot on. To me, it's not just being myself, but being the best possible me that I can be. (Holy shit I reread that and it's so cliche my penis almost fell off. But it still stands.)

Then you're doing it wrong.

You can be an introvert and not be beta. As someone who used to be both, but is now only an introvert, I assure you it can be done. It sounds like you still need to do some work on your inner game. Also, those baby steps you mentioned are spot on. That's pretty well exactly how I got started, walking through the grocery store saying hi to pretty girls. I still have a very hard time approaching groups of people or being in a large social setting like a crowded club. Just keep at it, one baby step…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
