This is why dating other men is better

It’s a hard thing to navigate - I think you have to weigh up how much good could come from confronting her about her extremist views and, more importantly, if there would be any harm to you caused by confronting her. I get that it will be hard losing a friend, but is she really your friend if all she can see is the supposed evil in you? Telling someone that you hate them (as she’s effectively doing to you) is a sure fire way to get them to hate you back. I’m in a similar situation - I’m gay and …

I don’t really know what s/he was expecting to achieve by coming onto a group that is known to disagree with the current feminist narrative.

No, it’s a zero sum game. It used to be about gaining equality, now it’s about gaining superiority. Maybe you’re a decent person that doesn’t view it as a zero sum game, and genuinely wants equality of the sexes. In which case, fair enough, literally fucking same. But a lot of other feminists don’t want this, but they’re too disingenuous to admit it. Also, I’m not debating that you WERE our biggest allies. I totally agree.

tbh, there’s probably no convincing you that I strongly believe in women’s rights and want nothing but the best for women. I treat women as I would like to be treated. With fucking respect. However, it’s a massive shame that a lot of feminists can’t reciprocate that from my experience. Edit: I’m sorry, I can’t be a feminist when modern day feminists call for the death of men

My recurring fear is that we’ll become hated by straight people for being gay, and hated by feminists for being men. Edit: and yes, gay men are perceived as two dimensional by so many people. It’s part of the reason I’m still internally homophobic and avoid coming out. I could rant so much about this, but I think the most important thing is that us gay men stick together.

It really does have everything a religion would have: The Original Sin (being a straight, white, cis male) Guilt by association Members that will kick you out if you think the wrong thing Demanding members to debase themselves in the name of something (e.g., antiracism/sexism/whatever.) It baffles me that people can’t see that this is just a postmodern religion dressed up under the guise of social justice. The way I feel about saying “I’m not a feminist” is probably how atheists in Islamic count…

That really doesn’t surprise me. White working class boys are just an obvious punching bag. Hated for being poor, hated for being white. Your “lived experience” doesn’t matter if you’re white and male either.

Same. I’ve posted about this issue here before, but it’s inconceivable to feminists that a white guy could ever be disadvantaged. This is also the same group that claims to see how everyone’s struggle is unique due to the intersection of many characteristics. It turns out that not having a lot of money is a pretty fucking important thing that can hinder… every aspect of your life, yet being white somehow more than negates that setback (which it doesn’t)

I’m white and grew up in the UK with FSM (free school meals). I’m now doing a doctorate at a good university. It’s a massive kick in the teeth when someone chimes in and insinuates that you only got there due to your demographic. Totally fucking undermines all of your hard work by treating (white) men as a monolith, while also ignoring the real stats at hand. Edit: I feel like if any other group were at the bottom of the list, there’d be an entire department at every university dedicated to prov…

I’m sick of this too. Perhaps by belittling your achievements, it makes them feel better about themselves (see: another commenter posted a study about feminism and narcissism.) Nothing worse than someone telling you that you didn’t earn your success due to being white and/or male, despite any challenges you may have faced. I don’t know who you are, but I’m sure you deserve your success!!! Also, here in the UK, white working class males (me) are the least likely demographic to progress onto highe…

Exactly, I’m glad that you realised the vast majority of gay men are actually not trying to tear you down, we’re just different. My field is physics, but a lot of the people I interact with outside of it are radical feminists. Even within physics itself, this radical feminist/postmodern way of thinking is rearing its ugly head. It’s depressing to see, and it really made me realise that some people only apply their critical thinking skills to science, but lose them as soon as it comes to real lif…

Unfortunately, I’m in quite deep (doing a doctorate.) I already feel like gay men are in a dangerous place; they’re beginning to be villainised by these self proclaimed righteous activists, yet homophobia unfortunately does still exist in pockets of the country I live in. Maybe what I’m saying is nonsense, maybe it’s an accurate prediction. Idk. Only time will tell. Interestingly, I was having a conversation about this with a different feminist. I was talking about how gay men are persecuted to …

Off topic, but I feel like this level of tolerance would never be seen on a feminist subreddit. You, and many other commenters, seem extremely tolerant and level headed. It’s really reassuring to see

Yes, I admit I am likely still slightly indoctrinated. Unfortunately, modern day (read: narcissistic) feminists permeate many parts of my life, and expressing my real views or cutting them out would put me in a bit of a predicament. All I can do is educate myself more to minimise these people’s influences on my life

I think in principle, “”intersectional”” feminism is supposed to consider this but, in practice, unless you hit some arbitrarily defined threshold of hardship points (again, based purely on what they see/judge) then you are, as you said, basically Elon Musk’s kid. Everyone struggles. I don’t hate rich, straight people, unless they’re a mean rich straight person.

Huh, fascinating. Yeah I’ve really started to realise how disingenuous these people are in recent months
