This claim obviously has not been fact checked at all. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris both had intact families as did Cho, whereas Mateen was raised by his father. I haven’t gone through the rest, but the claim is clearly bullshit.

I strongly disagree. I found the book to be highly allusive in a considered and programmatic way--for example in its control of color and use of Buddhist texts. As well as functioning as a "ghost story," a parody of the New Testament, a discussion of homosexuality and AIDS, and so on. The writing style is well-attested in American contemporary prose, and is hardly methy.
