Thank you for expressing what I was thinking and why I lived my life the way I did!

It’s so sad that many of us can’t have our grandparents very long. I’m sorry for your loss. I hope you had a good relationship with your grandmother for those 9 years. And I hope your kids get their grandparents for many years to come. My kids only knew one grandparent and they lost him last year. They wouldn’t have known the others unless we got married young. I’m hoping we can both be in our grandchildren’s lives for a long time if our kids decide that they want children. 0 for 2 right now, bu…

I was my mom’s 6th pregnancy (4 lived) and she was younger (35) (younger than me when I had mine) when she had me. I was 38 when I had my first because that’s when I found the right man. He’s a few years older than me and already had 2. So…my wanting to try having kids didn’t risk anything for him. My mom died when I was 17 probably partially due to the stress she was under to support our family. My daughter is 20 and still has her mom. I exercise 6 days a week and don’t have to work anymore if …

I think for some it’s the benefits they may receive. I had a friend in college that found out that he was a certain percentage Native American and he changed his major to pre Med (from pre- physical therapy). Once it was determined that he was whatever percentage he was all of his education was going to be paid for including Med school. So he got a free ride. He was a great guy and I was happy for him.

I appreciate your insights. Not for me, but for my son and daughter. I can have discussions with them on how things might be/are and what to possibly expect.

I’m not. She was an example. I have always been into fitness and have many friends that are really fit as well. Most of us look a lot younger than we are. You can be 50 and not have had any plastic surgery and look damn good if you take care of yourself. So, I didn’t know if there was something about that number that made it an absolute cut off for you.

Does that include someone like Jennifer Lopez who looks younger than she is and is still fit?

I agree with you. From age 25 to now my count has been 3 (and I’ve been monogamous and married for 20 years). Prior to 25 it got above 10. I wasn’t doing ONS’s , I was alone in the world from 17 years old and I think I was searching for a relationship so that I had a partner and a safety net. I just got into things too quickly and then realized that they weren’t what I was looking for and then I would rinse and repeat. It took until 25 before I grew up enough to realize that that wasn’t working …

If you meant “attack” in your comment, that wasn’t my intention. It’s just what popped up in my mind when I read your original comment and I was just curious.

I said it because that’s what you said you were looking for (or am I mistaken?). But, I think college educated women have more options (or at least they think they do) and aren’t as willing to settle for things they don’t like in a mate (or their history). Just my thoughts, and that’s why I was curious.

Do you find a lot of college educated women who will overlook that?

I didn’t know it was a maneuver at all. I look at it as honoring oneself.

Thank you! I think it’s great that you’re thinking about these things now. Being curious is a sign of intelligence!

“Fond over”? Did you mean fawn over? You make a good point though. If either partner isn’t in it for love then it’s probably not meeting both parties needs. (Maybe one, but not both).

As a mom, I agree with you. I didn’t want my daughter to have sex while in high school and fortunately she didn’t. Besides what you said I wouldn’t want her doing it just to get or keep a guy. I would want her to not allow herself to be pressured into doing it before she’s ready (which would be part of a healthy relationship like you mentioned). I’d want her to know that if the guy truly values her then he can wait until she’s ready. I don’t expect her to wait until she’s married. I would just h…

I know two men who fit this description that went to Russia to find their wives. Their marriages seem good, but I think if those women had been born in the US (or certain other countries) their husbands would still be single.

Husband material implies that you’re a good person that others like, respect and want to be around. For many, husband material also means father material most likely. Fwb material means you’re hot and fuckable, but you may have no real redeeming qualities.

Someone who is fit is most important to me. It’s more about him caring for his body and health and respecting himself enough to take care of himself. I don’t need muscles or skinny, just not super flabby. I’ve dated 5’6” to 6’ I don’t care about height. I was attracted to a guy that was 5’5”, but my friend snagged him and married him! I want what many women have said. Someone who cares about how he dresses. Jeans and tee shirts are fine for casual, but not every day is casual. Owning at least on…

The PNW varies drastically depending on where you are. The bigger cities are quite different from the rest of the state(s). So that’s quite a generalization. What you’re hearing might be about people in the bigger cities which are full of a lot of transplants from all over including the east coast. What I’ve experienced in the PNW is that people are…people. Even the rain thing- For example, Bend, OR averages less than 12 inches of precipitation a year and boasts about averaging something like 26…

Many women just want a capable man that can carry his own weight. Especially if the woman has a career that she had to work for by working her way up the ladder or going to college for a worthwhile degree. That woman is capable herself. Sure, there are women that will prefer a man that’s makes a lot of money over one who doesn’t. But, that’s no different than a man preferring a more attractive woman to a less attractive one. If given the option and all other variables are equal it’s a no-brainer…

I’m not judging you. You were being honest. It’s hard to hear that and think of my daughter that’s all. Attraction does work differently for men and women and I don’t fault you for that. I’ll just agree to disagree about my son.

Yes. We’ve talked since he was young about respecting people in general and how to respect girls and now women. I know I can’t control his thoughts, but from what he’s told me I get the sense that he appreciates girls/women for more than just what their bodies have to offer.

Oh, so many reasons. I wrote you a different, longer response, but deleted it. I’ll just say I have a daughter who wore dresses a lot in her young life. I wonder at what age she started to be looked at by men with that thought in their head.

You’re impressions aren’t wrong IMO. And your prison system is more humane.

Thank you. It makes me sad to hear some men think dresses are attractive due to “easy access”. But I guess that’s the world we live in. But, I also find it funny because I know a ton of women who wear the short leggings (kind of like biker shorts) under their dresses (myself included). So the male fantasy isn’t alway in line with reality.

Here’s my take. The suits or even just button down shirts are usually worn to places that are important or upscale. It doesn’t necessarily relate to money, but for sure can. But, if a man dresses that way he’s most likely put some thought into how he’s dressing. That “shows”he cares about himself (his image I guess) and care how he shows up for “you” (if you are the female on the date with him). My husband dresses in suits for work quite often. The suits that fit him the best do make him appear …

When I was younger and not married I probably experienced sexual attraction first. But, I didn’t go with that to pursue anyone. I was never interested in a one night stand, I wanted relationships. Part of romantic attraction for me was trust. If I felt like I was just going to be used by the guy that I felt sexual attraction to I was not interested. But, if I felt like he was truly interested in me and had something to “bring to the table” I would feel romantic attraction as well and would move …

Are you able to use birth control to prevent a second pregnancy? I hope so for your sake. I know some men will continually get women pregnant to keep them trapped. I hope you can find people to help you. I’m wishing you the best.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
