At every fork in the road, some doors open and others close. It sounds like you have done the best you could with the knowledge and support that you were given. You can still absolutely be a wife and mother. You can do this whether you finish med school or drop out, but finishing at this point will allow you to see some returns on your investment. I’m assuming that you are in the US, which means that you will have federally subsidized student loans. Please do not look at all of those zeros and g…

There are a lot of red flags here. You were 24 and he was 39 when you got together. That is a very big age gap. While legal, it strikes me as inappropriate. Secondly, I have never, NEVER been so embroiled in an argument with my husband that he has told me to STFU. We have been together for ten years and we are both very stubborn and NEVER have we gotten beyond a slightly raised voice with each other. This is another big red flag. Third, if you are constantly apologizing and being belittled as yo…

Do not make yourself smaller to make him feel bigger. People don’t dislike know-it-alls because of their knowledge. They dislike know-it-alls because they have poor manners and dominate every conversation.

Why on earth does a 26-year-old man have an 18-year-old girl as his best friend? Lots of red flags. Break up With him.

I’d say, maybe 60-40 in favor of trad? We married during undergrad at 20 and 21. We are religious. I “stay home” with the kids and do the majority of the housework, but I also have an advanced degree and I teach about 20 hours per week online. I would say we both have a mix of feminine and masculine hobbies. We met because we were on the same track team, and running and hiking are a big part of our lives. We both like carpentry and home improvement projects. I enjoy sewing, crocheting, and bakin…

As an orthodox Christian you are completely wrong about concubines being allowed.

Like I said, “on average.”

Women cultivate friendships better, on average, than men do. I am in touch with a dozen or so friends from middle school, high school, and college. I am close with most of my female first cousins. I have old colleagues that I am in touch with. My husband isn’t an active pursuer of his old friendships, so they tend to fizzle out. Friendship fills a lot of the relationship needs of women.

You can! It’s definitely possible to bring in some income while staying home most of the time!

Two days per week, I work for three consecutive hours. I have childcare on these days. I hire a woman from my church to come to my home while I work upstairs. I pay her a competitive rate for six total hours of work. On two other days each week, I work for two consecutive hours. These hours fall during nap time, so I do not have childcare these days. When my older toddler drops the nap, however, I will likely need childcare for four more hours each week! I do several hours of lesson planning and…

You cannot work from home with a one-year-old without childcare. I work from home as a teacher and my two toddlers and have childcare that comes to the house. Work from home jobs are increasingly easy to find, but the ones you will qualify for depend on your education level and previous work experience. Try using a website like Indeed and search for words like “remote.” As for the guilt — you and your family need to be able to eat and keep the lights on. Your first obligation to your kids is to …

I am a textbook INTJ. I like to run hard, lift weights, and I’m an amateur carpenter. That being said, when I’m not covered in sweat, mud, and sawdust, I make an effort with my appearance. I have figured out a haircut and color that flatters me. I wear mostly dresses and skirts, even around the house. I put makeup on maybe 5 days a week. I balance my more conventionally “masculine” hobbies with feminine ones like sewing, baking, and fiber arts. One of the biggest ways I’ve found to express my fe…

I love to crochet, sew, run/lift, bake, and read. I’m not much of a TV watcher but I do love to listen to a good audiobook or podcast while doing one of the aforementioned. I have a hard time with hobbies that don’t produce a tangible product, so I don’t have very many non-crafty hobbies.

Learn a skill, get a degree, or learn a trade! Even if you’re not planning on working after marriage, you can never 100% guarantee you won’t end up divorced, widowed, or with a disabled spouse!

I’m not gonna discourage you from getting married and having kids young as a rule. I got married at 20 and had my first kid at 21. However, you need to be really, really careful. Is your job enough to support you and several kids in the event of a divorce, death, or life-altering injury? Do you have full time hours and life insurance? I highly doubt it if you are working in a journalism job that doesn’t even require a high school diploma. If you’re not in a career, you need to train for a career…

A few things: 1. How long have you been with your fiancé? Cause I have some red flags here. He kind of sounds like a pedophile. 2. Go to college or learn a trade. Even if you don’t end up working for a wage, you need to have some way of earning an income in the event he leaves you or he dies. I have a bachelors and masters degree (might be excessive, but oh well) so that I always have a skill set I can fall back on. 3. If you are overly concerned that a kid will ruin your relationship, your rela…

28F, one — my husband. We met and married very young, though. Had I been playing the field longer, I realize I would have likely dated men who had had more partners. That being said, a high number of partners would probably indicate that we had different values, and I think I would have a hard time dating somebody who had more than 3-5 partners.
