That was me at your age. I was a pretty boy, skinny, not really an assertive type or provider type. I would get chubby girls who would hit on me and women who were more assertive types, which I think may have spoke to how I came across and who I was at that age.

Being on the spectrum definitely adds to the problem. When I was 19-22, when most people are probably f7cking the most in their lives and having fun, I was suicidal and didn't expect much of a future. It took me years of therapy for shit, learning social dynamics for things that should have come intuitively, studying psychology and philosophy, toying with social media in how to communicate which is a lot easier than having live group conversations, toying with my persona. Hit the gym- bulk up if…

Keep her as a friend and a network contact that might come in handy. Ditching her seems too high expectation and butt hurt.

Joe Rogan? Eh, listen to Terri Gross interviews on NPR, read Plato, Aristotle, and listen to Philosophy podcasts. I've never given Rogan a chance, but I'm sure I'm not missing much. Read Oscar Wilde for wit.

Btw, don't worry about stealing him away from someone. All's fair in love and war.

I had just put myself out there to someone I have mutual friends with, just a week ago. I was writing a much longer storyline, going into push/ pull details, etc- but basically I haven't smashed that. We're both around 40 though, I've ruined a lot of friendship circles by sticking my dick in too many friends and friends of friends over the years so I'm been there, done that- I'm going to be a little more cautious with this one. I actually like this girl as a person and I like our mutual friends …

This is seriously a cute post. I like seeing a girl out here and this brings back memories of past jobs I've had where I was in your spot. Him having a gf complicates things, even if he finds you attractive and interesting, he may not want to give up the security of that for something that's hypothetical; he probably wouldn't know if he could have good chemistry with you if you haven't interacted much. Sometimes it's nice just to tell someone you're into them with no expectations. It's a bold mo…

I have a girl who cuts my hair who touches my arm in a playful way, my shoulder unnecessarily, says babe a lot. I started to think she wanted to fuck, I've never tried to chase her down because I wasn't that into her, but after she said she wanted to hang one night and I texted her later and didn't get a reply- I think she just does it for the tips. Hopefully that isn't your situation.

A small pinch. Mostly helped with getting out of my head, reminders to take advantage of situations where I could make small talk and to be more playful. I really just kept trying different approaches. I hooked up with more crazy needy girls than if I had not tried talking to them at all. I hooked up with girls I had zero interest in, but that still helped in giving me more confidence when it comes to girls I am interested in. I'm less attached to outcome and less bothered by rejection. So yeah.

Btw, a big reason I started trying to learn pickup was just to learn how to get better at interacting and making small talk. Toast Masters was not helping me in that area. It helped me just to try to obsess on pickup. I'm far from being a pua, but it did improve my social game. I'll consider any improvement a success.

Before I had a clue I was on the spectrum, I knew I didn't know how to deal with social situations that came intuitively for others. I ended up venturing towards sarcasm if I didn't understand someone instead of looking stupid myself- figured being a dick was better than just staring awkwardly. I'm a little too good at negging- according to a serious gf I ended up with (who's on the spectrum). And though she ended up getting me and we clicked, before her my negging just attracted really clingy g…
