She wants you to kill the puppy because she's too scared to do it herself. You've got four kids with her. They are your priority right now, not her. STFU, lift and be the best dad possible for your kids. Either the 1000 ft rope tightens up or throw gas in the life boat and burn a fucking hole in the water.

I agree here as well. I have some good close friends but they don't want to talk about feelings any more than I want to talk with them about feelings. Whiskey and shop talk soothes the savage soul.

It's the peat taste that keeps me away. I prefer the cask finish on a good bourbon or rye.

OYS #6 Last OYS 1/30/18. 43, 5'11" 265 lbs (-2 lbs), Married 17 years 3 kids under 16 Health/Fitness I have been down and out the last two weeks with a ridiculous chest cold. I tried to work out late last week and it knocked me down for two days. I'm resting and recouperating. I felt I had plateaued with SL 5X5. Yesterday I downloaded the 5/3/1 app by Sarasoft and I ordered the newest edition of Wendler's book. It should be here today. I'm excited for the change. I'm going stir crazy. I've tried…

I don't care what you're into. It is your life to live. People take jabs at me for being a cishetero white male all the time https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinteresting/comments/7gtyzt/found_this_in_my_university_today/dqpp412/?st=jdvz0xo7&sh=cb7a3420

According to your post history, you have described yourself as a white cis male hetero and you are into femdom. That lifestyle is not congruent with MRP. How can your wife submit to your leadership when, if even covertly, you want her to dominate you?

I'd have to guess it's a stress response. Cortisol does some wacky shit to your brain. Above all, don't do anything stupid. You need to make sure you're around for the kid after it's born.

If you don't want to buy her the ring, then don't. If you fear her reaction then you are solidly in her frame. I stopped buying gifts for Valentines day a few years ago. I buy her a modest flower arrangement because I like to see her smile. I cook a nice family dinner because I like good food.

I've been going to the gym 3x/wk min. Stronglifts 5X5. Squat 260 (+125) I haven't had a failure on squat yet but I feel it coming. OHP made it up to 110 then failed at 115 had to deload. It was a collaboration of errors and the uprights were sub standard. They were home made and gifted to me. Needless to say it was a lesson learned.

I agree on both items. Isn't this sub for men to share when they are not at their finest in the effort to be better men?

I stopped working out this time last year after I knocked over one of the free-standing squat rack sides with 175lbs on my shoulders. Thankfully I didn't have collars on the bar and was able to dump it without hurting myself or doing any damage. At the time, I did use it as an excuse to stop, but it did show me how dangerous it can be. When I re-started this past fall I joined a commercial gym. Though not as convenient, I like it way better. I actually work out more than I did with the home gym.

I found myself unconsciously slipping back into old behaviours or not progressing if I failed to do this step. If my days were so busy that I skipped this step my progress stopped. I took one day off from my lifting schedule last week because "busy". Just that one day off led me to thinking "Just one more day off". I checked that shit real quick and left it on the gym floor in a puddle of sweat two days in a row to make up for it. The old me would have still been "busy". I still have to take it …

Wecome. I'm new to OYS also. The only comment I have is that it might not be a bad idea to get your GP and maybe even a dietitian on board with your fitness plan. Taking care of your ticker when starting out should be a priority. When I was pushing 300lbs, 1600kcal/day was like throwing a stone down a well.

OYS #3, last OYS 11/7/17 43, 5'11" 262.4lbs (-3.6lbs), married 17 years, 3 kids under 16 Health/Fitness Moving up steadily on 5x5. I missed one workout last week. SQ 135#(+30), OHP 80#(+15), DL 1x5 155#(+30), BP 100#(+15), Row 100#(+15). I'm down weight wise from my last OYS which is good. I haven't started using MFP yet. I'm eating smaller portions and drinking a big glass of water. It's helping to feel satiated. Alcohol consumption is down. I'll go a couple days a week with no alcohol at all a…

frame things so that I get to play the victim, show the woman how she was shitty to me, and gain concessions from her by showing how I'm hurt, unjustly mistreated etc. - which she was supposed to "see" and react with compassion to. I still cringe at the thought of how many times I've done this in the past.

Thanks for your input. I've used MFP and likely will again. I agree that CICO is the way to lose it. It's simple mathmatics.

OYS #2 43, 5'11", 266, Married 17 years, three kids under 16. Health/Fitness, Improving. two weeks at the gym and moving steadily on 5x5. Squat 105, OHP 65, DL 125, BP 85, Row 85. I feel good. I'm not losing any weight which surprises me a little. I'm eating better and less, and drinking less alcohol, especially on evenings before the gym. It's tough to get out of bed at 4:30 after a couple drinks the night before. I'm not focusing on the weight loss yet, just keeping at the pace I'm on. I think…

OYS #1 A little has changed since my first post in MRP. I had a life threatening allergic reaction. It was a short time, but was a major period of introspection. Stats 43, 5'11", 264lbs (+ 5lbs doctor ordered inactivity) Married 17 years, 3 kids under 16 fitness/Diet After a period of inactivity I joined a gym and went this morning for the second time this week. I restarted 5x5 from the beginning at the recommendation of my doctor so I don't strain my heart after the course of epinephrine. The w…

This is the truth. I was angry for close to two years. I was still stuck in the "if I, then she will" loop. I wasn't able to begin to turn things around until I realized it was all my own doing.

Yes, I agree. I don't subscribe to that mantra anymore. It was more of a look back at how I was raised by my mother. Agreed. Still a fat ass. Scale is currently moving in the proper direction overall, but lifting and cardio are forthcoming. We are away for the holiday weekend. I'm bringing my bike and I'm going to put some miles on it. The family's schedule is changing with the start of school. Lifting is going on the schedule. Talk is cheap when you're a fat ass.

This is why I decided to post. When I WAS lifting I found it incredibly difficult to lose weight. I was so much hungrier. I did feel better, and I was losing inches, but the constant hunger was my demise. That's why I chose to start slowly this time. I've began to lose weight again through diet. Adding lifting and cardio is coming in very short order.

I'm not lying to myself. Calling it an "off cycle" was a poor choice of words. I am not lifting and it is pure laziness. It's been 6 months. Taking a long hard look at myself is why I am here. I agree. I aint shit.

You are not wrong. I went Rambo. Big time Anger phase. I came really close to blowing the whole thing up. I was ok with that at the time. I'm glad I didn't now though.
