Is the discussion of “sex preferences” here comparable to the history of female infanticide in China, India, Pakistan, etc.?

There’s several genuine comments on here asking like that so I wasn’t sure 💀😂

The book includes other types of couples (lesbian, straight, etc.) - but you wouldn’t know that because this is probably the first time you’ve seen the book, right? And it’s about parenthood - not propaganda 🙄

The authors of that book are a married couple with kids. The book also includes other types of parents (2 moms, mom and dad, etc.)

It’s a drawing depicting the authors - Ryan Brockington and Isaac Webster - who are a married couple with kids.

A book regarding a girl having 2 fathers. Is there an issue with those men being fathers?
/r/MensRights18/05/22 10:40 PM

It’s literally not front and center - but on the bottom right corner. It’s displayed with the other father-related books because they are fathers. When its 2 dads, you’re suggesting it’s “shoving sexuality shit down children’s throats”. Would you have the same issue with the majority of books that depict heterosexual couples?

Depends on how you define Patriarchy — Regarding the US Government’s system, of the 117th U.S. Congress’ membership: “Counting both the House of Representatives and the Senate, 144 of 539 seats – or 27% – are held by women.”

Do you notice how you’re the one saying that? You’re the one manifesting that energy and claiming that I’m wrong in how I help? How is that healthy or helpful? killallmen is hate speech. I’m not disagreeing about that whatsoever. It’s like you can’t accept that I’m agreeing with you yet you’re still adamant on proving me wrong somewhere. Why?
/r/MensRights15/03/22 05:48 PM

There’s not as many as you might think - Not without getting told we’re lying or victim blamed. My apologies though. Like I said in the edit, I was meaning to show empathy. I didn’t realize I couldn’t share that here. I must have missed it in the rules. Sorry, again.

Are you really trying to disagree? It literally supports the point that the OP made.
/r/MensRights14/03/22 09:41 AM

Nowhere am I disagreeing with that. On the contrary, I’ve stated that the statistics for men is low due to a severe amount of unreported cases along with that being the entire point of my comment - I tried emphasizing the parts most relevant to the OP.

Unfortunately, too many on every side 😕 A lot of sexism vs sexism which doesn’t fix anything. Tbh it’s not even as bad on here as it is on Facebook - which is weird considering the anonymity on Reddit. And thank you! You’re the 2nd to say that and it def made my week 😂
/r/MensRights14/03/22 09:33 AM

Idk if you would consider it relevant but your comment reminded me of some research I did for a class last year regarding the steps of cultural competence. Definitely one to consider. Also the significance of CBT (again, not sure if it’s super relevant but there’s a lot of cognitive distortions I’ve seen on here and other similar subreddits)
/r/MensRights14/03/22 09:21 AM
1

We do. And you can see in the comments here what happens. And thank you for acknowledging my question about the movement. The initial feminist movement was to get those rights. It was fighting for them. The current one isn’t cause to hurt them but is instead focusing on social injustice - aware of and advocating for not only women but men (recognizing that the original toxic structures are just as harmful to them as they were to us)
/r/MensRights14/03/22 09:19 AM
1

I don’t expect every single person to do research but I do hope that people have valid information to base their positions on when they voice them. Men didn’t have a movement? But how did they obtain the right to vote, work, access to education, etc. without one? Unfortunately, due to the spread of misinformation and other toxic idealistic repercussions, there is a lot of sexism vs sexism 😕

/r/MensRights14/03/22 08:31 AM

Notice you’re the one saying that which is further perpetuating it, not me - who has stated what feminism actually stands for. Men and women who don’t support feminism just don’t support it. That’s their choice.
/r/MensRights14/03/22 08:04 AM

I’ve literally said that men get raped… can you at least pretend you can comprehend what I’m saying? Why are you putting words in my mouth? Are you not able to make a point without deflecting through insults?
/r/MensRights14/03/22 08:03 AM

My stats acknowledge that it happens to men too. And stating that they’re definitely underreported You’d notice that had you actually read what I stated.

RAINN was established by Scott Berkowitz and Tori Amos — it operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline, as well as the Department of Defense (DoD) Safe Helpline, and carries out programs to prevent sexual assault, help survivors, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice through victim services, public education, public policy, and consulting services. THAT is their agenda.
/r/MensRights14/03/22 08:00 AM

Not if you’re unwilling to research and comprehend without listening to the extremists, sure.
/r/MensRights14/03/22 07:56 AM

You’re acting like those videos don’t exist regarding women though. It’s not a goddamned pissing contest to see who’s more of a victim. It should be Us vs Society’s repercussions of toxicity.
/r/MensRights14/03/22 07:55 AM

Ah my statistics were US based. And yes. I completely disagree with that ideology. It should be considered rape no matter the gender of the perpetrator.

I said it was recorded cases and it’s still super significant. It’s lower than what’s the actual number most likely is because a majority of people (especially men) don’t report being attacked. Also I got these numbers from organizations such as RAINN and the HRSA.

In case you choose to not answer, Ill say that I consider Rape Culture as an environment in which rape is prevalent and (sexual) violence is normalized/excused in the media and popular culture. — which I noticed as the main subject in the OP. I know the phrase was coined in the 70s during the 2nd wave feminist movement with a focus of violence towards women - but it’s just as applicable today regarding men and women as victims. It perpetuates the idea that victims are blamed for their own assaul…

By no means do I support war and it’s repercussions. But I’ve had interesting conversations with people regarding mandated service - including discussions of who established those laws / who’s been in power to initiate these wars / etc.
/r/MensRights14/03/22 07:16 AM
2

Yes. That’s the difference between Equality Feminism and Radical Feminists. Are you referring to the headlines from International Women’s Day that was acknowledging the Ukrainian female soldiers and civilians who stayed to help fight / or those providing care on the front lines? And yep. I also call out misandry when I find it. It’s despicable.n
/r/MensRights14/03/22 07:10 AM

I was taught by medical professionals to yell “fire” the next time I was getting raped because it would ensure people to help. And no one “allows” rape whatsoever. That’s the point. Yet it happens (recorded cases) to 1 in 5 women and 1 in 33 men in the US. Are those not significant numbers to you? Also, actual Equality Feminists don’t say that men want to own women. You seem to be confusing them with Radicals who project misandry.
/r/MensRights14/03/22 07:05 AM

What was your takeaway about my comments regarding rape culture? Because I mentioned it includes gratuitous gendered violence in movies and television (which I felt was very relevant to the OP), assuming that men don’t get raped or that only “weak” men get raped, and that it refuses to take rape accusations seriously (including men and women). But you’re saying you don’t think those happen to men? May I ask why?
/r/MensRights14/03/22 07:03 AM

That’s what I think they were hoping it would showcase. Why the specifics now? I thought we were talking about characters who’d been given consequences for sexually attacking another?

Also the only comment I made about “teachers” - specifically regarding gender - was correcting someone who said 90% of teachers are women.

Can you send me the links to those? I’m intrigued. And what are you talking about? My comments advocate for the men and women that are victims. Is that not something I should support?

I noticed a lot of headlines, regarding male or female perpetrators, mentioned rape while interjecting throughout the rest of the articles with terms regarding “slept/had sex with___” Like with Mary Kay Letourneau, Rene Elena Carter, Stephanie McCrea, Sarah Sellers, Ramsey BethAnn Bearse, Brittiny Lopez Murray, Heiry Calvi, Melissa Blair, Adrianne Hockett, etc.

The recent post on my Reddit page is the same stuff I post on my IG to expose that behavior. Because a lot of people accuse me and other women of lying saying “it’s not that bad”.

/r/MensRights14/03/22 04:55 AM

Thank you for agreeing it was unnecessary to make a comment on considering we are all nobodies on the internet. I know they’re the ones who obtain more power because they play extremists and use fear tactics. It’s still not feminism nor is it okay to perpetuate their ideologies.

So there’s no popular artists with songs or celebrities in movies/shows perpetuating rape and violence against women for several decades? Must have been my imagination. And says who? I know so many women and men who would advocate for the victim and step in to stop the violent behavior and hold the actual perpetrator accountable.
/r/MensRights14/03/22 04:53 AM

I agree that we should apply the same standards to women as men. Regarding rape culture within society in a social and legal structure. Why aren’t many attackers convicted? Wouldn’t the men (who make up a majority of judges in the US) be aware that men are victims too? It wouldn’t be appropriate for anyone to be groped - and that scenario happens to both, unfortunately. Same for situations with the police. They don’t take most victim’s seriously when they report it (which is why there’s so many …

To be more specific, she is a “radical” feminist Radical feminism promotes harmful resentment for men. Don’t confuse feminists with radical feminists who punish men for being men. Listen to the feminists who want all men and women to treat each other with equal respect and have an equal presence and rights in society. Feminism involves the idea of equal treatment in all aspects of life between all sexes and refusing to be subordinate to those who demean them due to their sex.
/r/MensRights14/03/22 04:30 AM
2

Would you like to try that again without deflecting to insults? Like I said, that’s not actual feminism. I’d suggest doing actual research before identifying feminism based on false and harmful information from someone claiming to be a feminist.
/r/MensRights14/03/22 04:21 AM
2

Since forever? Actual feminism strives for obtaining rights and gender equality. I’ve found a lot of people associate feminists with extremists or misandrists despite the actual history and ideologies of feminism.
/r/MensRights14/03/22 04:09 AM
1

Oooh. Whoops I meant The Boys (Homelander) I remember he went to jail but not for the women he raped 🤭 And my bad. I thought you were initially referring to those who were convicted of attacking vs others taking it into their own hands. That’s a different conversation to have regarding violence.

There’s so many different kinds of feminism but extremists, who advocate for misandry, have given it a bad name, unfortunately. I’ve noticed there’s a lot of people who agree with actual feminist points that disapprove of the name because of those giving it a bad association. Also noticing more descriptions added to differentiate from the extremists - such as “equality feminism” where the ultimate goal is the equality of the sexes in all domains (adopting the objective of gender equality)
/r/MensRights14/03/22 02:50 AM

That’s not what actual feminism supports. And I hate it being portrayed like that.

/r/MensRights14/03/22 02:33 AM

I mostly hear men telling other men toxic shit like that with a lot of women showing more empathy (expected nurturing nature/majority of female therapists/etc.). I know there’s also women who say it but not to the extent of men projecting it onto others because of the outdated and harmful expectations THEY were taught regarding our roles in society as men vs women - especially prevalent in sports or regarding emotions (hence the insane amount of male suicide victims).
/r/MensRights14/03/22 02:30 AM

Unfortunately, yeah. You’re right. It’s not spoken about anywhere near as much as it should. Too much of its based on toxic expectations. 😕
/r/MensRights14/03/22 02:25 AM

Is that true percentage or was it assumed? Just please consider: Who had the original power to make these laws? Who do you think has the majority power to convict? A LOT of equality feminists think the way I do. Too many are quick to assume we’re extremists who participate in misandry.
/r/MensRights14/03/22 02:21 AM

My comment history shows the progression of it turning into discussing Rape Culture, regarding men as victims too. (italicizing the very applicable parts) Unfortunately, yeah - I see that a LOT. Especially on Facebook and here. I have a plethora of screenshots. I’m also a trauma victim which is why I advocate so hard for all victims. Not sure why you’re claiming I’m being disrespectful and inconsiderate when I’m discussing the root cause of OPs post, agreeing it is unfortunately normalized again…

Like I said, I admit that that’s new information for me. And trust me when I say I’m furious about it — Because men are also victims. It’s a National law for any adult to be prosecuted with rape if the victim is under 18 (as it goddamned should be) But yeah.. I wouldn’t say it’s men as the root cause of things wrong but modern feminism is fighting “toxic masculinity” which effects everyone. **by “toxic masculinity” I’m not saying that masculinity is toxic. That’s the exact point I’m making. It’s hard for either because it’s a toxic expectation set on either side. Usually having to be past a certain age, have kids already, and their partners permission on both ends. I know there’s also a history of women who were given psych evaluations for requesting it - so I’m sure men were too or would be surprised otherwise.

Please at least try to prove me wrong. I’d love to have the conversation without you attempting to deflect with insults.

There’s shock when anyone expresses not wanting to be a parent. What are the typical rules for men and women to be granted sterilization?
