With my ex-wife, it wasn’t that she gained a lot of weight, it was, she just stopped caring. She stopped, caring about how she looked, became incredibly lazy and obnoxiously gluttonous. Add that to her in increasing problem with anger management, and she became utterly repulsive.

Apparently, you didn’t read up on this. This is not “neutering“. I had one after my second child because I was done with babies. My sex life has been great since then. in fact, it’s better because I didn’t have to worry about birth control. Most insurance companies will do it for free, because it saves them a ton of money on pregnancy and newborns to cover. It’s amazing how ignorant some of the comments are on this thread.

If the adults are the only one involved, that doesn’t bother me personally. I don’t even really understand why people get married if they aren’t going to have children. Marriage exists to protect families in general and children in particular.

That’s not what OP said. They wrote that ypu don’t need a reason or excuse. Addiction , abuse, abandonment or adultery are reasons. Damn good reasons. Your personal happiness is not. The institution of marriage is to protect a family, children in particular. The legal mechanisms exist to put the needs of the children before the happiness of the parents. Some people simply aren’t happy, no matter what their situation is. If they shouldn’t even be in a relationship in the first place, so be it. Bu…

Because there are usually children involved. The children’s well-being comes before either parents personal happiness. You may stumble into a poor relationship, but once you have children, game over!

What marriages are you talking about? Doesn’t sound like a 20th century or 21st century marriage to me

You don’t have to research basic logic, but what you gave wasn’t basic logic. It was just a gut feeling that you pulled out of thin air. Nobody said anything about being a sociopath. nevertheless, sociopath stay married sometimes. Some people are just obsessed with instant gratification and have bought the myth that you are entitled to constant happiness. Constant happiness is not living in the real world. Everybody live through struggles and difficulties. The whole purpose of a committed partne…

Marriage isn’t supposed to be about total happiness. No one is happy all the time. Marriage is supposed to be about working through the tough times. I hate to be traditional, but “for better or for worse, for richer or poorer” etc. that is what a partnership is about. The way I see it, if you are willing to destroy a commitment just because it doesn’t vibe with you, you are pretty self-centered and pretty shallow and should probably not try to make any commitments.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/25 11:20 PM
5

So basically, you’re telling me that you didn’t research anything and you’re just shooting from the hip. This is what Stephen Colbert calls “truthiness”. there is no data to back it up, it just feels right.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/25 11:16 PM

And you’re basing this on carefully studied statistics? Or maybe………nothing
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/25 10:25 PM

If you are that capricious about commitments, then don’t get married. Ever. Marriage is more than just happiness or lack there of. Marriage is legal and ethical contract. You make vows when you get married, whether it is secular or religious. If you break the vows on a whim, you are basically telling society that you are Essentially a liar and not reliable to keep your word.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/25 09:49 PM

Well duh! Marriage is a legal contract and in many ethics, a sacred contract. Women initiate 80% of divorces in the US. If they are professional women 90% of divorces. Walking away because you just “don’t feel happy” is simply not justified. that mindset means that woman, or man, who walks away from a legal contract because they’re just not happy cannot be trusted to keep the word on anything. In other words, they are lying. I hate to think of what would happen if no fault divorces returned, but…

My point was simply to say that things got better for me after I had hit 60. A lot of those reasons were simply self-care. I lost fat, gained muscle mass, grew a well groomed beard and updated my wardrobe to dress like a big boy. Before I took that effort, I was a freaking slob. Of course, what works for me might not work for anyone else. But things can get better. I’m not saying they will, but they can and statistics bear that out. I know it can be brutal in the prime years. I’m not gonna lie a…

No, I’m not dating celebrities. 😅Or bikini models . Just average typical women of a certain age. Some are fit, but ,most have their the physical and emotional flaws . But I’m no Calvin Klein underwear model either. The younger woman I had a fling with is a self described plus size, but she was great for me anyways. Until you’re above your fifties and sixties when it gets dramatically better for men. I’m 65m and I get a lot of attention dating both online and offline. I can go on 2-3 dates a week easily. That’s because there’s less men with a much larger poll of eligible women. For example, I just finished a date with a woman two years younger than me. Earlier this month, I had a fling with a woman who is 48. I was just doing a video chat with a woman I met online who is 45. That isn’t going anywhere, but s…

I’m a 65 year-old man. I am seeing this woman who is absolutely delightful! She is funny, smart and simply adorable. We have been on two dates and have been intimate twice. I asked her if she was ready to hide her profile she said it was too soon. That certainly means she has options. And it’s just so happens, I’ve had great luck dating. Judge: the reasons the plaintiff gave for wanting a divorce are not justified enough for me to grant it. Now, I want you to to go back to your unhappy marriage, and proceeded to drive each other crazy and possibly kill each other.

Let’s say you must have grounds for a divorce, or it will not be granted. Now you have two unhappy people trapped in a legal contract that could be potentially harmful to either of them, but especially the woman. If the couple live separately, while still married, it can be a very big financial burden. Any other hand, anywhere between 80 to 90% of all divorces, depending on who statistics you use, are initiated by women. I know that abuse, addiction and adultery are big part of those, but how ma…

I hear you. From what I’ve read, it’s the old 90% – 10% ratio. According to this, a tiny percentage of the most “high value men“ have an unending stream of women, throwing themselves at him and expecting nothing in return. These “bad boys“ refused to commit because they simply don’t have to put effort into it. The other 90% of men, end up with less than what they believe they’re entitled to and spend a lot of time whining on the Internet. I guess like I am now!

I tried to keep my marriage together till my ex took the first action. Then I quickly filed for divorce. Her large weight gain was a symptom, but not a a cause of the marriages failure. What you did was taking your time to get to know the person you had met. this is how it could be on OLD, but it doesn’t fit in the business model. And this is exactly the problem. In the internet dating universe, instant gratification takes too long. Men and women expect doves descending from heaven when they meet someone in a 45 minute coffee date. I had met a woman once who said that she felt “no sparkles” when we met. Excuse me? In one hour?

Ok……if you’re out for dinner, you must be in the Uk or Europe. That changes everything. For all I know, the laws I wrote of ,may not apply. Here in the US, the states determine family and matrimonial law. However, most states grant emergency ex parte OOP.

Oh my ex had reasons: verbal abuse, threatening physical harm, being abusive to the kids, alcoholic, drugs. None of it was true. A plaintiff does not need any evidence in an emergency ex parte order hearing. ( ex parte means only one side ). An evidentiary hearing is then scheduled. A judge may extend the order or vacate the order. In most cases, the plaintiff faces no consequences for fabricating or exaggerating the evidence on the order, even though it’s technically perjury. Again, there are g…

Look. I don’t mean to be offensive, but you have obviously never been through this in New York State. Orders of protection by law are ex parte. This is so a woman, and sometimes but rarely a man can testify in a closed session. This is done so the person who the complaint is being leveled against cannot be there to intimidate the plaintiff. Family court in New York State is very similar. Although the defendant is present, most proceedings are not open to the public to protect the plaintiff, and …

Maybe I didn’t make myself clear. The women got an ex parte restraining order, forcing me from the home and making th mother’s the de facto custodians. The orders specifically told me to stay away from the house or the schools. I had to make arrangements to see my kids, and it took months to even have them spend overnights with me. This was not my choice. Again, this was a cynical manipulation of the system. And there is a very good reason why the court will give women an instant restraining ord…

That’s not the case. In both cases ( two in the first , one in the second) the women had the kids in temporary sole custody for months while it worked its way through court. When it finally got in front of the judge, the grounds for the order against me were instantly dismissed. Again, with no consequences to the plaintiffs. Law guardians were appointed and they usually recommend the status quo. At that point, my lawyers made it clear that fighting for custody would be a losing battle. And unles…

Nope! And that’s what pisses me off. I’m a teacher , so I spent my summers as the primary care provider. Both exes did some quick maneuvering in family court to guarantee primary custody. They were strong independent women who, wanted their sovereignty, but in family court they were helpless females who needed protection from me. I’ve never touched a woman in anger in my life.
