I could tell you mindfulness/meditation would make a world of difference in that category, but it's one of those things you have to decide for yourself you are going to take on and stick with. It's difficult, takes time, and isn't medicine so most people discount it pretty quickly.

I really appreciate the honesty there. I know it's not easy to come forward and admit that there was something within that you just couldn't come to terms with. I am really glad that therapy has given you the ability to confront yourself and really tackle the issues instead of sweeping them under the rug. But I'm sure that whatever it is you are dealing with is ongoing, and probably will be for a while. You can never fully leave behind what you've experienced. The most important thing is to figu…

Wow, I'm really sorry to hear that. If you could find a way to report him you definitely should, because it's the therapist's obligation to report accurate information. I would also look into seeing if your insurance would potentially cover going to a therapist not associated with the VA. At this point, you may have enough of a negative experience with LCSW therapists to not really trust them which is going to hinder your progress if you still are in need of therapy. If that's the case, try find…

Because he wasn't a doctor doesn't really indicate why he was so terrible, but it seems like he was probably really bad at keeping up with his documentation. Therapists are supposed to take note of your appearance, as that is relevant to the cases, but the fact that he mixed yours up is an indication that either there was a mistake in the filings, or he was just a bad therapist. I don't think therapists really want to sabotage people, some just aren't as good as others. If you don't mind me aski…

Again, I don't want you to think i'm patronizing you for your comments or saying your wrong. I do understand you are probably in a world of hurt that I can't really understand. But I also think you can take in this experience and make some good out of it. Take measures to make things like this more aware in your community if you are passionate about it. You can't change what happened with your friend, but you may be able to change someone else's mind or help them see another way in the future.

I agree with this, but I think we need more mental health bridges for everyone. Mental health is stigmatized even today, although the trend is towards acceptance. The problem is there are people that still don't believe in mental illnesses (trust me I could name one). The problem lies in societal conceptual models. Men are supposed to be strong leaders, women are supposed to be submissive caretakers. The only way break this mold is, again, to teach equality to your children, your friends, your f…

I am sincerely sorry for your loss. Though while I agree that some feminists or maybe just society as a whole is responsible for the Cowboy Syndrome plaguing men, it needs to be said that other men do this too. I'm not saying your post doesn't imply it, but to be sure it's overtly stated as a male myself I see other males putting each other down for expressing emotion, being themselves, not conforming, etc. I think this discussion of men's and women's rights has become too us versus them overall…
