| 1 | Divorce Scotland, early stages, looking for infoMy own experience if that a near 50:50 split is best for mine, and I suspect close to that is best for kids in most circumstances. Child maintenance - the person that earns the most pays. I still really resent it. She chooses to not work any where near full time, and me and the taxpayer both have to support her in making that choice post spilt - essentially until all the kids are grown up. Seems mad to me, but best make your peace with it. There is no fighting it. House and the specifics of fina… | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/08/23 01:19 PM |
| 1 | Divorce Scotland, early stages, looking for infoFellow Scot here. Sorry you are going through this, but reading through what you are saying, it's sounds like planning for the worst is probably a good idea, even if you still end up trying in the meantime. The default in Scotland is 50:50 on everything after spilt, including martial assets and child access. For my three kids child maintenance is about 15% of net monthly income at 50:50 and you can use the UK government calculator to model it. | 10 | Female Nature: Never take responsibilityMe too. All my fault. I'm not perfect but I didn't cheat, worked hard, decent salary, loved my kids, did a good share of housework, didn't get physical with my family (or anyone), wasn't abusive, wasn't an addict. And here I am, all my fault, and apparently always been a shit husband. Problem for me was that i believed it for a while. Some mutual friends seem to have fallen for it too. I don't know if it really is female nature, but there's a lot of us left feeling this way. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/01/23 08:58 AM |
| 4 | Who can blame that dumb Adele song for their ex”s thought and idea to get the divorce .Same idea, different singer. My ex's narrative of our relationship and break up is heavily influenced by the last Taylor swift song she listened to. It's like a Disney movie in her head. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/01/23 08:52 AM |
| 2 | Wife wants divorce UK (Scotland) - advice neededAs a Scottish guy (usually a lurker) going through divorce I agree with all of this. The only things I would add is you should keep in mind that pension/child maintenance/house spilt arrangement is all negotiable. A 50% of everything split will be enforced if it really comes to it, but you can arrange things between you. My advice would be to have a game plan and package to offer her, and clear boundaries you won't negotiate on. Aim high and be prepared to concede something. This approach really… | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/11/22 09:19 PM |
