Well, compromise starts with empathy, and while entirely understanding where you're coming from, I think it's equally as important to acknowledge that sometimes we can't see where others are coming from. And because of that, we can't judge its validity at face value. So the best option to hear people out, and do so with good faith. The biggest mistakes I've made came from situations where I assumed someone's character or intention because of what they say or how they say it without further inves…

As far as who is "more dangerous", that's down to your definition of dangerous. But by most definitions, I reluctantly agree with the idea that men are more dangerous. That said, is it worse to kill a person, or make them want to kill themselves? Because as far as I see it, that's the reality of the underlying argument. Put another way, would you rather live every day with nothing left but the breathe in your lungs, or would you rather not experience that at all? It's subjective, and that's a bi…

People like you are as bad as the feminazis. Okay, I can't disagree more with that other person. I know nothing about you or what you're going through. And I can't pretend to begin to understand. But where "feminazis" try to control behavior and tear other people down for not agreeing with them, you have shown absolutely none of that here. I'm still a lurker in this sub because it's one of the last nontoxic places on Reddit that tries to discuss men's problems in a non-aggressive way. I see this…

I noticed that too. But think of it like this. Most people are being civil. And a lot of people don't really know HOW to talk about this stuff in a healthy way. Exploring these concepts together is what helps us learn how to approach them in a more sincere and even-handed manner. It's healthy for all of us as long as things stay civil.

Who wants love that is unconditional? Love earned every day is the greatest experience, because the human condition requires effort for us to value anything for any real long-term. I don't know about anyone else, but the idea that my wife would still love me if I beat her would make me respect and value her less. I WANT her to leave me if I don't prove myself worthy by treating her with the respect she deserves.

But why bring gender into it at all? Can't we for once just have posters talking about how generalized abuse is wrong? I mean, hell, lesbian relationships have a higher instance of abuse than ANY other combination of men and women, so it's not just men. I think a lot of men get defensive, not because of the validity or lack thereof, but instead because the only PSAs that are produced seem to be about man on woman violence. Sure, this isn't saying "only men are abusers," but again this poster cou…

I actually agree with you there. Santa was hard for me as a parent, because my wife and both our families wanted to keep the Santa myth alive. I basically felt compelled to lie myself, or show my daughter everyone around her was lying to her. It was terrible. In the end, I refused to support the myth, but I also never outright said Santa didn't exist. By the time she was 6 and a half, she'd figured it out. I'm glad we're past Santa.

We should all be open to civil discussion if we want any hope of bridging gaps. Downvoting is censorship, and using it to suppress viewpoints you don't agree with makes you as bad as the SJWs and misandrists you vilify. I've enjoyed this sub for over a year now, but I'll say this experience has left a terrible impression on me. You'll probably be pleased to hear I likely won't be around much longer. Hope everyone here can eventually band together and stop pushing away potential allies. You don't…

They're getting massively downvoted when they are trying to contribute to the discussion. Even if they aren't doing so to your standards, it's clear effort is being made and we as a community would better serve ourselves and those we purport to stand for by having patience and engaging in open dialog, instead of shutting others down in an incredulous rain of downvotes. TL;DR Be civil and not an asshole, or you make us all look bad.

For the record, all of your comments in this thread have been rational and reserved. I'm also a bit ashamed at how you're being treated. I'm upvoting you where relevant to try and offset the asshatery.

I felt this was a good article on the matter I also want to say, as an aside, despite the middle part being clearly their biased opinion, the way the information is presented (and the posted responses at the bottom) felt refreshing considering what qualifies as journalism nowadays.

It is R rated. It also features the return of Mark Hamill as The Joker and Kevin Conroy as Batman. I couldn't be more stoked.

Not true! They can be rapists, misogynists, cheaters, aggressors and full of privilege. Hell, most of them are by default! /s

Except both of these are so indiscernible that it should render the entire conversation moot. Whether genetics or environment are the reason a boy or girl wants what they want doesn't matter. If it makes them happy, and they hurt no one, who are we to try and "fix" that?

I don't think I've ever posted anything here before, but I needed to share this experience with those who understand. I generally don't let stuff like this get under my skin. Hell, I rarely even partake in conversations like this. But I hoped, for some reason, this would go better than those I'd seen online. I just don't understand how a group of people could be so filled with hate that they don't understand they are being as bad as those they purport to hate. Where is this "privilege" I'm suppo…

That kind of response does more harm than good to all parties involved, as well as those merely associated.

To be fair, I don't see the logic in the outcome described by OP. But I agree. /u/Yodude1...wat?

I will fully agree that the general mindset of this sub, and even yourself, falls in line with a far more rational line of thinking. That said, this sub, and even yourself, seem to fall pray to the fallacy that wasting your time discussing how bad another group is does wonders to further your ultimate claimed goal of equality. Acknowledge injustice when injustice happens, but words are not injustice. They are just words and not worth ours.

Dude, I TOTALLY get where you're coming from, but don't forget the name of the sub we're in. Someday we're gonna have to let go of fighting for men's rights, and women for their's. Because ultimately, we're fighting the right fight in the wrong towns. Our camps want equality, and when THAT'S what we call what we fight for, not feminism or men's rights or whatever, that'll actually be when we've already achieved it and can move onto focusing on bigger and more important things. Like ending global…

I thought this was an incredibly well put-together collection of gender-equality violations in the gaming industry. One example that really upset me was God of War's promise to show no violence towards women in their newest game. Apparently violence against men is acceptable, though, so carry on. Nothing to see here :P EDIT: A word

Right, but the way it's worded is bullshit. While being under pressure at work may increase the chances that they might lie, the fact THAT they lie is not an indication of anything except a willingness to lie.

I have, and per what I said, they are "mostly" allegations. Yes, one person she cheated with has been confirmed, but the others still have not been. 4/5s = mostly. Also, please don't downvote because you don't agree with what I said. That's not using the voting system appropriately. I'm still adding to the discussion, regardless of your feelings about what I'm saying.

sort of like a crucible, it burns away the problems in my argument to think about how my ideas can be misinterpreted, and it makes me think more clearly about what I really understand and believe. I love that way of thinking about making an argument, so thank you for sharing. I'm still only 6 months into REALLY trying to lead with a rational and logical foot. For what it's worth, you've strengthened not only your own arguments, but helped me to learn how to temper my own.

Wow, and again you have to put up with ad hominem, false arguments, and bullying. If you make ANY mistake, it's continuing to reply to those who so evidently will never understand what a proper argument is. What you did here was brilliant, and did a GREAT job at exemplifying the logical inconsistencies of Hercules' "argument". I'm having a literal philosogasm reading your responses. Bravo, friend.

mean0dean0's response was incredibly valid. You're being a bully. You're trying to make a non-personal discussion into a personal one. And when someone provides an insightful, logical argument that making the conversation personal is unnecessary to the topic at hand, you not only continue to push the personal question, but are incredibly rude about it to boot. And don't bother replying to this. I won't attempt a "discussion" with someone so evidently disrespectful and aggressive.
