First of all, YES, you WILL meet someone again that you can trust and who deserves you! Sounds like you've done lots of work on yourself and you're still YOUNG!! 40's is still young! Well that's just a depressing way to look at things. I was going to tell him to believe that he WILL find that person he can trust again, if that's what he wants. All of us are worthy and deserving of a loving, trusting relationship if we are loving and trustworthy! It just takes time. He shouldn't give up on something he wants.

I'll just add don't reach out to the in-laws again. Reach out to your family, not hers and a therapist who you feel comfortable talking to. You're putting the in-laws in a weird spot. Ya gotta think of how they feel too.

You might want to file for legal separation now so that after the date of that, your assets are legally yours only. Also, start stashing away cash when you're able. Keep it somewhere private. You could even get a lockbox for a while at a bank.
