About FGM: Common perception is that this is a misogynist patriarchal practice prevalent in Islamic societies, practiced in order to repress female sexuality and therefore control, oppress, dominate women.... We know the story, However, looking more closely, the country with the most widespread practice of FGM is Ethiopia. So, by above logic, Ethiopia must a misogynist Islamofascist hell where women are second-class citizens existing solely for male pleasure! Well, actually, there are a couple o…

So, she wants boys to wear dresses and be soft and meek. OK, sure. But later on, when those boys find out that they can't get laid and complain about it, can she promise that she won't call them incel terrorists and will instead show compassion and understanding for their situation? Probably not.

She's not oppressed because she's a woman!!! She's oppressed because a boy called her 'bossy' 20 years ago!!!

Saudi Arabia is, by all possible metrics as far as women's status goes, better than United States in 1980s. One can say that even today women are not taken as seriously as men in the West and are treated like children. Karen Straughan says just this in one of her videos.

Even taking that into account, Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia both have more women in parliament percentage-wise than USA.

One obvious mistake that author makes is that he assumes that various men;s movements are equivalents of feminism. But they are not. TRP, MGTOW, PUA... are not male versions of feminism, but something completely different.

We don't need and have never needed feminism anywhere. We need feminism in this safe, free, western country because women are oppressed in Saudi Arabia Actually, women in America are 3 times as likely to be murdered as in Saudi Arabia. So much for "safe western country", lol.

Manosphere doesn't mean anything other than catch-all term for everyone from tradcon anti-feminists, to MRAs, PUAs, MGTOWs, all the way to incels, ..... There is no idea behind it other than some vague anti-feminism and focus on men.

Main idea: The incredible success of feminism (and popular support for it) comes down to the very basic membership criteria required to benefiting from its gains and victories. To put it another way- any woman can benefit from feminism. Sure.. women from some groups might benefit more than women from other groups, but in the end they are all better off than before. Being white, black, hispanic, asian, fat, thin, hot, ugly, hairy or smooth is secondary to being a woman - as far as benefiting from…

Well, there is a problem with most of the manosphere. I mean, PUA sites, RooshV, Return of Kings, then the Red Pillers and all those masculinist blogs, and then MGTOW Youtube community, which started OK with Barbarossa and RAzor Blade Kandy but is now degenerated into right-wing macho posturing, then the incels, then stupid right-wing anti-feminists and so on ...... However, these people don't call themselves MRAs. RedPillers, PUAs, MGTOWs and others explicitly reject MRM and consider MRAs delud…

The one thing that will always fascinate me is how people who have actual MULTIBILLIONAIRES on their side (or in their families, as is the case with the owner of this website) can still pretend to be oppressed.

Actually, I'm pretty sure there are more female directors, producers and company owners in porn than in mainstream film industry.

Men still have 2 "advantages". They make up majority of political and business and other elites, and they make more money. Actually, these are the only 2 advantages men ever had. If they are advantages at all.

The author is no friend of men (duh, this is The Atlantic). This is just damage control, like so many articles in MSM in recent years. The overwhelming majority of feminists want equality, not male abdication of power and responsibility. In the name of feminism, Walters advocates for a future that few women want within a framework that mistakenly treats their project as zero sum. Even this person who argues, “We have every right to hate [men],” will likely keep teaching them without much controv…

I know. What I meant to say is that just as feminists shame weak men with 'incel', 'creep', 'neckbeard', right-wingers and PUAs and RedPillers do it with 'soiboi'. They want to say that only weak effeminate soy-fed millennial men enable feminism and leftist politics. This is silly, since it wasn't millennial soibois who gave us white feather campaign, nofault divorce, alimony, female only scholarships, duluth model, harassment legislation, 'patriarchy' and 'rape culture' theories, campus reeduca…

> I think inceldom is not a men's rights issue, since there is no right to have sex. Obsessive shaming of incels is a mens issue. When airheads in MSM give dumb condescending advices to incels (like 'treat women with respect'), that's a men issue. Pretending that incels are danger to national security is a mens issue. Pretending that men who cannot get laid are defective or even evil and that they will all become incel terrorists is a mens issue. Finding incels in all sorts of unlikely places is…

So, it's like "commie" or "nazi". But the funny thing is that all these terms refer to weak men, and not to powerful men. And people who are using these terms are often feminists and their allies who supposedly hate powerful men, ie. rich white men who maintain the patriarchy.

Perhaps even in earlier days if you attempted to school all children many unruly boys would drop out. But in earlier days nobody attempted to school all children but only some children and only to the degree it was economically necessary and economically feasible.

Well, maybe women generally do "normal" things. Today, education is the norm and women will observe that norm. However, men still take majority of money-making degrees and majority of intellectually demanding degrees in theoretical science which may not necessarily make a lot of money. Who knows.....

Complacency and career success are a bitch. Maybe they deserve understanding. Do you remember how long it took you to realize that women are not oppressed in the West? It was probably a painful process, full of shocking revelations, sometimes a bit scary. Now imagine going through the same thing, but with 3rd world in question. Ain't easy, especially if you're middle aged, successful, well-adjusted to your environment, with a career to preserve, legacy to worry about ....

Problem is that many of these "anti-feminists" are heavily invested in defending "Western civilization" (in case of conservatives) or "free-market capitalism" (in case of libertarians) or "White rac"e (AltRight). So, what pisses many of them off about modern feminism is not so much the fact that modern feminists criticize men but that they criticize Western men, or White men, or Western civilization, or capitalism.... As long as feminists criticize non-White non-Western men living in non-Western…

Its like they literally havent read data/studies from the previous decade Heh, I remember articles by Christina Hoff Sommers and Cathy Young from late 1980s, in which they were writing that the West no longer needs feminism, but the 3rd world still desperately needs it because of widespread misogyny and sexism. And guess what, when you look at their recent articles, they are still saying the exact same thing: "3rd world needs feminism. The West doesn't." Even though almost 30 years have elapsed …

First you need a journo who is opposed to feminism. And not just a journo who is opposed to Western feminism but also feminism in 3rd world. There are hardly any such journos. Conservatives and libertarians may take a stand against Western feminism, but they still believe that feminism is necessary and good in 3rd world. They don't care about deconstructing feminist myths about the 3rd world.

Even without Rwanda, it seems to me that that part of Africa has more women in parliament than any other world region, with exception of Scandinavia. What are the reasons for this, why is it so different from Western Africa where women rarely make up more than 15%, I've no idea. 61% is not "balance" btw.

Men are better educated than women only in countries where people in general are very poorly educated. (Sub-Saharan Africa). As soon as levels of education rise, women overtake men. In other words, where education is an exception, education is a male thing. Where education is the rule, education is a female thing. Hmm....

That's an interesting question. Many people in MRM instinctively say "It's feminism!", but there is something else to it. There are other social processes that contribute to it. (By the way, I think that feminism itself is a result of those same processes. Feminism is simply a reaction to things that are already happening, such as industrialization, women joining the workforce as a result of jobs becoming more bearable, loosening of family bonds... Feminism is a reactionary movement. )
