I'd say you handled the situation exactly as a man would. A little rough around the edges, but you responded to the challenge, you remained composed and handled your emotions well. And putting on the mask wrong was a perfect way to respond. Many would've fired back and gone out of bounds. You also did the right thing to confront him, and you complied with the other people asking you which is awesome. I assume a lot of people would tell me I'm wrong and should just put the mask on and be quiet. N…

Yeah! I just wanna add that you should also surround yourself with people who simply aren't interested in being part of the structure. They might not always actively fight it, but there are good people out there as well.

This. It can be hard to break out of a rut alone, especially if you've had many years to cement the pattern. I'm going through this with my parents atm and it's like we're talking different languages sometimes. A therapist is invaluable as a mediator.

I used to feel like this as well. I actually got girls in the end, but I didn't feel better, just more inadequate. The turning point was when I realised that sex, marriage and stuff isn't everything. I can derive just as much, if not more pleasure from my hobbies, growing as a person, learning new skills etc. I struggled to learn skills as well, but in hindsight I think being occupied with constant anxiety inducing thoughts made it hard to focus enough to read. I went through therapy, and with p…

Yeah, I was traumatised by both of my parents. Dad was violent, mom rigid and they almost never paid attention to me except for when they got mad. As an adult I have an insecure, anxious attachment. I don't let people in, I push people away, I break down in anxious spirals and unravel like if someone were pulling on a string. I recommend therapy. I haven't been able to undo all the damage that was done to me, but my quality of life has improved drastically over the years. Hit me up if you wanna …

I think you and your family should give your sister some space. She's obviously not in a place where she can be around you, and you shouldn't have to take unnecessary abuse. If she seeks you out looking for a fight, simply shut her out and call the police. She'll have to respect your boundaries. You won't have to press charges, but police can evict her from the premises so that you won't have to physically confront her. Be consistent about it. She'll need time to sort her head out. Don't press h…

As a guy who pulls a lot of women, I'm mostly just crunching numbers. I get rejected by most. Even if I had top game one night, there are so many reasons for being rejected that are outside of my control, so I try to not make a deal about it. Even if everything about me is absolutely 10/10 I'd still get no more times than yes. Also, try to forget about getting laid/finding companionship. Your self-worth does not stem from dating. Sorry to hear girls were mean to you. They're a lot crueler when t…

I get it, you didn't know my intentions and without those I can see how it must've looked. It's absolutely a common and well known side effect of SSRIs. I didn't realise that I gave off an impression that they were mutually exclusive, sorry about the confusion!

And since none of us are able to accurately guess the underlying cause for the anhedonia, the most helpful thing to do is to provide different perspectives. OP is looking for help to brainstorm the problem, not for a diagnosis.

Have been, still am. I'm taking mirtazipin and Wellbutrin at the moment, but I've tried at least 10 different kinds ranging from tricyclic to modern. It's individual how we're affected by SSRIs, but lifestyle has in my nearly decade and a half experience of being on medication a larger effect in our mood than the medication does. Of course, that is dose dependent and there's a lot of other factors. Generally speaking, though.

Also, two months is nothing. I worked on it for years before I finally got rid of the anhedonia. It's not just about doing new things, it's an internal process that needs to follow as well. Meditation and mindfulness has helped me develop a sense of presence. I also had to stop using screens to the excess that I was, start to build up a sense of accomplishment, give myself time to space out and rest, start exercise. I had to learn to be present even in boring/scary/anxious situations, it was lik…

I'm not so sure I wanna put the blame on SSRI's here. I recognise the feeling you describe, and I associate that feeling with only doing brain numbing tasks all day long, sticking to the same routine every night and repeating it day in and day out for week after week. People need a sense of novelty, adventure, awe and curiosity. If we stick to our routines and never let some new air in we stagnate and experience anhedonia. So my recommendation to you is to break up the pattern. Maybe take a nigh…

Sorry about that. I'll read the rules now.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
