That advice is in one way stupid; because if the woman knows more about a process telling her to shut up leads everyone having their finger in the machine. aka you cannot generalize on default who knows more on what matter so to generally suggest the girlfriend/wife/mother to shut up on everything the guy thinks he is good at, isn't something advisable.

If a guy is filling you with doubts the rule of thumb is to just continue dating other guys, no dumping required. So long you haven't discussed exclusivity, you can just meet new guys. Other things are maybe 'starting a fight' aka, defining what the hack you are as he seems to mean something to you but he is not really clear what you mean to him.

It could originate from Romantic frustration. I mean we used to have 1-2 kids by that age.
