You are saying that a person who has a subconscious bias nonetheless will be perfectly objective when it comes to hiring practices as relating to that bias? That's a contradiction in terms. You're literally refuting yourself in the same sentence. If that person is biased... they are also objective in behavior? The mechanics of that statement make no logical sense. That's not what I'm saying. Please reread my post. I'm saying that a subconscious bias is not a predictor for behavior. If you point …

See, now, we're venturing outside the scope of evidence-based debate. We can talk about real, measurable variables (e.g. the amount of women employed today vs. 100 years ago) to draw conclusions about discrimination. These conclusions may not reflect the subjective, inner realities of people. But they represent objective reality. They represent real things like barriers to entry, fairness of policies, the amount of opportunities available, etc. Basically, the type of shit that has measurable imp…

I was working under the very first definition of sexism that google gave me. prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, on the basis of sex. My above point very clearly illustrates that discrimination, and in effect, sexism has seen a marked decrease. Not allowing women to vote? To work? To Join the army? Sexist and discriminatory. Reversing those decisions? Less discrimination. Thus, less sexism. Slavery of Africans is illegal, did racism go away? Civil Rights happened…

You're not even trying. Citing an established, non-controversial fact is not the same thing as saying "everyone believes it." You might want to brush up on your fallacies. By the way, you just committed a textbook straw man fallacy--refuting an argument that I did not make. Never once did I argue that my claim is true by virtue of other people believing it. It is a fact that women can vote, work, and join the military--when 100 years ago they could not. This is not controversial. This is not eve…

Now you're just being facetious. My claim is non-controversial. It is a well accepted and documented fact that sexism/discrimination against women is considerably less prevalent today. The burden of proof is ON YOU, the person making a claim that goes against established fact. This, kids, is why we need philosophy classes in high school. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophical_burden_of_proof If there is a dispute, the burden of proof falls onto the challenger of the status quo from the pers…

Man, the mental acrobatics you go through to avoid admitting that your claim is not justifiable. Now, if you said something like "sexism still exists," we could've avoided this discussion. Sexism DOES still exist. But to say that we have as much sexism today, as we did in an era where women were not allowed to vote, work, divorce, or talk about their sexuality is just plain ridiculous. There's no way you actually believe that. It is prudent to ask for evidence when such a ridiculous claim has be…

No, I wanted you to back up your original claim, which was "there is as much sexism today." You have not done so. Not even close. Again, I reiterate, you provided a statistically insignificant, and grossly unrepresentative sample. This is not good evidence for supporting the claim that there is JUST AS MUCH SEXISM today. It's non-evidence. I agree that TRP/PUA are hotbeds for sexism. I disagree that the philosophies themselves are inherently sexist. But because of the immature and dogmatic natur…

So this is how you think debates go? You make a claim you can't back up. I call you out on it. Then you drop any pretense of having a debate, and resort to tribalism? "Your team is evil, so you lose!" LOL. Carry on.

Yeah, this sub is tedious as hell. We get the same posts every week, with the same hardline blooper/terper divide. Virtually every CMV post is a disingenuous attempt at playing "GOTCHA!" But there is value in the sub. There's some really solid, moderate debate happening in the comment threads. This is usually where people take the time to post sources and explain their positions without being fallacious. But I usually ignore the hardline "debating." Shit's cancer.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/05/17 05:59 PM

You did not provide a source. You pointed out to a statistically insignificant, and woefully misrepresentative sample. This is bad logic. I have no interest in debating with someone who can't grasp the basic concepts of intellectual honesty. Have fun with your trolling.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/05/17 05:53 PM

You made a claim, and quantified it all by yourself. You claimed there was just as much of something today as there was before. The onus is on you to provide your sources. I made no such claim about sexism. There's also a reason I asked you to define sexism. I find it to be a nebulous "catch-all" term that can be defined in any way that fits the argument.

When I joined TRP, the angry dogmatists were in the minority, and were often shut down by more reasoned voices. I recognize that being a dogmatist, for a short period of time, was necessary for me to regain my focus in life. But that is not the same thing as saying that dogmatic voices should be at the forefront of the sub. Newbies in the anger phase need to STFU, learn, and make progress.

So, essentially, you're not interested in holding any evidence-based beliefs? You made a quantifiable claim. That there is as AS MUCH of something, as there was 100 years ago. Then you point out a single, statistically insignificant example as evidence? This is akin to me claiming that there are just as many blue-eyed black lemurs as there were 100 years ago, and then pointing at a zoo that houses all of them as evidence. (Hint: they're an endangered species). Zero intellectual honesty. Why even…

Who taught us that? Our favourite celebrities. The news stories we listen to every day. Our teachers. Our professors. Our female friends. Now, as for the second part of your question, "who taught me that it was my personal fault?" Why is this a necessary condition for A. internalizing these concepts, and B. Being impacted negatively by their existence?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/05/17 03:26 PM

First, define sexism. Second, just as much sexism as 100 years ago? Please show me your receipts.

In the same way that people no longer want to call themselves feminists despite believing in the original, fundamental tenets of feminism (equality for all). Let me ask you this: from an evo-psych perspective, what do you think is the purpose of carrying a visual symbol (like a flair), identifying with a particular tribe?

I'm glad we're in agreement then. Because the pendulum has swung way too far to the other end.

You're not wrong here. A "typical" woman probably isn't worth much of anything. Why settle for typical? But if you're a firm believer in AWALT, I guess that applies to any woman?

I partially agree with the first part of your post. TRP =/= RP. In the same way that the bloopers here will argue that SJW Feminism =/= Feminism. As for the second part... Pretty far off the mark. I'm more of an anarcho-capitalist (although I can't stand those guys :P). I prefer feminine and submissive women, but I don't really give a flying fuck what anyone else does--as long as it makes them happy, and they don't prevent anyone else from doing what makes them happy.

Imagine that TRP was the dominant cultural influence for 50+ years. Every popular show, movie, news agency promoted TRP ideals. All women are branch swinging whores waiting to happen. Women are children who shouldn't be given too much responsibility. Women need a captain to lead them. Would women have a right to be angry for being raised in a culture where their gender is demonized? Oh wait, that DID happen. And they WERE angry. And they had to fight for decades to overcome (what they believed t…

Not a whole darn lot. Like I said, I've internalized most of it, and still believe in the heuristic nature of the sidebar. I rejected the dogma surrounding the tenets. The confirmation bias is very strong on TRP, and there are too many people turning heuristics into rigid and binary life philosophies.

In my case, fence is not an apt metaphor ;) I'd liken Blues/Reds to warring religious tribes with incompatible ideals, and Purples to wandering nomads seeking refuge from the zealotry.

This is a good point. But: A. This doesn't refute the root argument of this thread (women have a much better safety net than men). B. This presupposes that women's protection is more important than men's. The main point of contention, which some ladies here are vehemently denying (like /u/goatismycopilot), is whether or not these safety nets even exist. Clearly we're in agreement that these safety nets DO exist. It's a completely different debate to talk about whether or not these safety nets SH…

Like the other lady, you conveniently ignored the point of the post and decided to interject with an anecdote. Granted, your second point is a fair one. Homeless women are indeed at higher risk in sex-related crimes, whereas homeless men are higher risk in violence related crime (http://nationalhomeless.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Hate-Crimes-2013-FINAL.pdf). I'm not going to moralize or try to compare the two. You can draw your own conclusions. The point I'm making is that there are also inh…

Except you would. Female only shelters would take you in if you had nowhere to live. (bet you have at least half a dozen in your city) Female only professional services would help you get a job ASAP. If you belong to any religious community, you'd find housing in no time. If you went and got yourself knocked up, you could receive a steady paycheque from the government. As a low income woman, you could also go back to school, with bursaries and grants covering a large portion of your living expen…

I'm not sure if you understood my post. I wasn't saying that YOU took advantage of any of these things. It's actually kind of cool that you're a self-made woman. Props. But that was not the point. The point is, if your entire life fell apart tomorrow, you'd have a million places to turn to (government funded, private, and social) before you ended up on the street. Not so with men.

Let's see... Female only shelters Female only grants and bursaries for education Female only training and employment agencies Female only community centre programs Female issue charities Free female only clinics And this is just scratching the surface. Then we have a whole load of social conditions which make it much harder for women to hit rock-bottom. For whatever reason, men in dire straits are MUCH less likely to be put up by friends, colleagues, or even family. A woman in dire straits, even…

So then we agree, that starting Starting Strength isn't inherently going to fuck you up? What WILL fuck you up is doing Starting Strength for a year, quickly loading up to a 300 pound squat, and never bothering to check your shitty-ass form. Which I totally agree with. That's not even a point of debate.

I usually love your posts, but this one reeks of self-promotional marketing. Controversial title? Check. Play on insecurities? Check. Create fear? Check. Casually mention your services? Check. End post with a CTA? Check. I wouldn't even have such a big problem with you promoting yourself if you didn't resort to blatant fear-mongering to push your agenda. Firstly, no one should be starting with a loaded bar. Even if you did some sporadic lifting in college and feel like you should be able to lift…

Nothing wrong with olive oil, or fat for that matter. We need fat to function. Fat is metabolized slower than carbs, fills you up more, and gives you a more stable source of energy for a longer period of time. OP, ignore that particular remark (everything else is spot on).

First of all, you're wasting your time by not having a proper workout program in place. You don't have to build one yourself. There's a lot of amazing beginners programs out there for lifting. I recommend Starting Strength or 5X5 Stronglifts. Second of all, despite what you've been told since you were a wee lad, cardio is not the secret to losing fat. Eating well is. Turkey vs. beef is not a real health change. White vs. whole wheat isn't a real health change. Real dietary changes that will help…

Aikido and Kung Fu are just about the worst martial arts for practical fighting skill. Krav Maga CAN be decent, but most gyms don't teach it properly (with true sparring).

You're right, I became absolutely pathetic over the course of my marriage. But I would argue that most males in LTRs gain weight, lose their spark, and see a sharp decline in testosterone. There's a reason "dad-bod" is a thing. There's a reason 68.8% of adults in the US are overweight. There's a reason that such a high portion of marriages end in divorce. By your narrative, "most" non-RP men are attractive, outgoing, and great with women? That's ridiculous. Most of ANYBODY isn't ANY of those thi…

I'd like to point out that you're fixating on one sentence, and disregarding absolutely everything else. That's intellectually dishonest. But I'll respond anyways. Getting to 25% bodyfat was a process that took more than 10 years. I didn't have an obvious comparison, because of how gradually it happened. I also had short bouts of fitness throughout. At one point (about our 4th year together) I dropped to 14% bodyfat. I was "above average" in my country (US). Still didn't change a single thing in…

Point by point: I don't care about the MRA bullshit some red pillers peddle. It's not a rallying call for me, or for many of our rank. But I do care about being realistic. The potential for getting destroyed financially in a divorce, for example, is a very real threat to our gender, and I'm definitely conscious of it in order to make better decisions. I could see why the TRP's image of a woman may bother you. But you're ignoring the actual philosophies, and (presumably) getting your information …

I've always known this instinctively, but didn't start harnessing it properly until TRP. I was always much more motivated and creative when my libido sky-rocketed and there was no release in sight. Unfortunately, after getting into an LTR, my sexual energy was redirected towards keeping my wife happy. The amount of patience, effort, and sacrifice a married blooper has to exhibit is nothing short of astounding. Instead of transmuting my urges towards my own pursuits, I transmuted them towards bei…

With the exception of younger, over-compensating betas, that's exactly what most people training in a martial art will tell you. If you have a choice, don't fight. It isn't worth it. But you're conflating being READY and ABLE to fight, with actively seeking fights out. That's silly. Being proficient at a practical martial art isn't going to make you a roided-out macho-man looking to put hands on every dude that holds eye contact for more than a split second. That's a blue pill myth.

Don't train straight up MMA until you have a solid base of grappling and stand-up (striking). Most MMA gyms offer separate classes for different arts, but you end up getting a lot of "cross-discipline" instructors (a judo guy running a wrestling class, or a kick-boxing guy running a "muay thai" class). MMA schools can teach you the basics of striking and grappling, but unless you train these arts separately with top instructors, you'll never be truly proficient in either. If you want to learn to…

This is a lesson. You've finally seen AWALT first-hand, and need to double-down on the TRP fundamentals to make it out of this situation. Step outside of your perspective for a second. Forget the fact that he's your brother. And let's review. John meets Lara, starts dating her, and develops oneitis. Her attraction fades quickly, because, you know, neediness dries the pussy up. Around the same time, Lara meets an older man, Kevin, with a higher SMV. Kevin has a higher social status than John (hig…

You care too much. You've also clearly ignored just about every fundamental red pill lesson, and focused on gaming tactics instead. First off, not every girl is going to like you. Suck it up, and move on. Secondly, you don't have abundance mentality. You have scarcity mentality. You're chasing this girl around, constantly fighting for her attention, warming her hands up like a little beta bitch, and making yourself too available. Your neediness is turning that pussy into the Sahara. Reread the b…
