Yes, I think this can happen. I think it’s exceedingly rare in the first place and even more so when it sticks, but yes I think it happens. It happened to my parents and it happened to me. I am weary of posting this comment because I feel like I’m going to get downvoted for it, but here goes... my boyfriend and I recognized something in each other immediately, within the first three hours of knowing each other. We exchanged I love yous within a week. He introduced me to his family and friends wi…

Lol I recently broke up with someone I was seeing for ~3-4 months. One of my biggest reasons for doing so was because he would never put the toilet seat down after using the bathroom in MY apartment. I asked him, got shitty with him, had conversations with him about it like seriously every single time he’d pee at my apartment because he’d leave it up without fail. Came down to me realizing he either (1) didn’t give a fuck enough to remember, which seemed unlikely given how many times I told him …

I’m very upfront with men I date about the fact that I do not intend on changing my last name. At most I’ll hyphen it. I will not be going to grad school, publishing research, potentially getting a doctorate one day under my maiden name just to change it to someone else’s name who DIDN’T DO all the work. Plus I really like my last name and I don’t have any brothers or male cousins, so hell no I am not changing it.

I spent two years of my life so lonely in my first serious relationship. We would see each other 1-2x a week on a good week (despite living 10 mins apart and going to the same school), there would be stretches of weeks that we'd go without seeing each other once, he would lie to get out of spending time with me and cancel last minute, he never once prioritized me. I didn't have many friends during this time period and I was so painfully, heartbreakingly lonely with him. The event that made me fi…

What women are you fraternizing with that openly discuss their past hookups/ relationships with men they’re dating. I give that info up on a need to know basis and that’s it. It is in extremely poor taste to discuss other things so nonchalantly and idk any of my girlfriends who do this

People... change? Do men only think with their dicks? Is that literally the only thing that matters?

How would you find out? Why do you even care? If the person makes you happy and you trust them, what does it matter? I could not give less of a shit about the number of people a potential partner has slept with

I needed to be reminded of this because I’ve been talking to my fearful-avoidant LVM ex recently with the idea of potentially getting back together. I put down one of my pets yesterday and asked him for a hug and he immediately began giving me excuses as to why he was too busy to spare 5 mins to see me. We proceeded to get into an argument in which he said he didn’t understand why he had to show me why I was important to him. Lol that’s why I broke up with you loser. But yeah needed a FDS remind…

I fundamentally do not understand where you are getting this 50% figure from though. What are you basing that off of?

Ew this is a really gross way of looking at it. The more dating experience you have, the more you understand what your wants, desires, non-negotiables, etc are in a relationship and are able to make better informed romantic decisions. This takes time of course before you find out what you really want and the person who best matches up with that ideal... there isn't a "wall" if you're a good hearted, interesting, attractive person. I can't comment for people who aren't generally attractive but th…

Can we stop with all of the memes and screenshots? At least make a stickied post for them or something? I feel like the quality of the sub has taken a sharp turn for the worst.

This is a really interesting point. I had never thought about the historical parallels before, but you’re totally right! Thanks for bringing this up, gives me something to think about.

Yes, thank you! I don't understand the hatred of FDS. That sub has helped me improve my self esteem and my relationship with men significantly. I have been a lot happier since I've been reading that sub. I think it helps women who are looking for serious relationships navigate the awful world of heterosexual dating in the 21st century. A lot of the posts there are basic emotional intelligence lessons that tons of people miss out on for whatever reasons. I think it's generally a positive communit…

My ex of two years and I waited at least a month to have sex, maybe longer. It was an excellent slow burn because we still spent lots of time making out and learning about each other’s body before actually having penetrative sex, and to this day it was still the best first sex I’ve ever had. I have never wanted to wait with anyone before and have absolutely zero qualms about sleeping together on the first or second date, but I was serious about him so we waited and it paid off incredibly well.

I think that it’s a fucked up combo of fetishism and mental illness in a lot of cases. I think men get confused by being turned on by cross dressing and think that makeup and tight clothes = I must be trans! I also think that porn has a lot to do with it. I have felt myself slipping down a very cynical and jaded path re: trans women lately and I’m trying to pull myself out of it. But the more I think about it the more insulted I get that these men think that being a woman boils down to liking tr…

I’m not an English major but here was what I took away from it: that women are conditioned by the male gaze and everything we do in some way or the other is influenced by men’s perception of us. Even our own understanding of self is viewed through a male-centric lens.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by this?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/01/20 06:09 PM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
