Please expand on your comment. I should not support my son? Do you have grandparents that love you? Do you have parents who love you? Does anyone love you?

Yes! I stand corrected.

SHE wants to withdraw funds from HER 401k and wants my son to sign so SHE can take money out so SHE can pay for HER attorney. It’s like saying can you loan me money so I can sue you? Just clarifying.

Still confused. Why does my son need to sign? I’m thinking because they’re going through a divorce and their assets are frozen no he has to sign some thing so she can get some money out of her 401K so she can hire a lawyer to screw him over.

I really don’t want to play dirty until I have to! I will get it sturdy and dirty if she does.

I know it will be hard. I hope you will be able to spend time with the rest of the family. Your parents , siblings , nieces and nephews. My son is going through this crap. I am kind of dreading it. I am afraid it is going to drag us all down all during the holidays because of his situation. It’s hard to put a happy face on. Maybe do some volunteer work. Ring a bell. That will make you feel good

Not quite sure. I just heard the judge say every other weekend and every other holiday. My son’s lawyer just had a baby two weeks ago and he doesn’t want to bother her right now. I guess we’ll take it up possibly after Thanksgiving. Maybe we can have the girls for Christmas. They have to go through a custody evaluation before anything is permanent. Unfortunately, his weekends are not on ether holiday.

Nope! Why did I say that? Not giving up. I just need to adjust to the fact that I will only see my granddaughters once in a while. We used to see them all the time. Took care of the 9 yo since 2 yo. My husband and I are going to continue to support our son. Plus we have some cash and I’m willing to spend some to keep the granddaughters in our family.

See my comment. This is a TPO hearing. Not a custody hearing. I have learned quickly the difference.

Red State here as well.
/r/Divorce_Men25/09/22 01:24 AM

Well, maybe not. This was the TPO hearing, which hasn’t been resolved. So I was happy that he got to see his girls even with TPO. This is not the custody debate. That comes later.

Awe! Thank you for responding. He got drug tested voluntarily the day after his children were ripped out of his life and he has been voluntarily drug testing every week. Not even court ordered at this point. Son is being proactive.

He does have some kind of not so good stuff on her, bad stuff really. My son is saving that. He does not want to throw her under the bus if he doesn’t have to. But he will if needed.

Thank you. He is going through Hell right now. He is a journalist and just starting his own paper. Thank goodness, he can keep his mind focused a bit. We are preparing for warfare.

That’s the question. Could be his or could be hers. Could be both. Could be a set up. Who knows. I think my daughter-in-law thought she was going to sail through this easily. Not so much.

They haven’t had their first hearing yet. Do I get a lawyer now? Should I wait and see what the first outcomes are? I guess I should just consult a lawyer now. I just don’t want to complicate the proceedings for my son.

That’s a bit disheartening, considering she actually spent probably a third or better with us. We took her camping, picked her up from school, taught her chess, took her to children museums, bought each bike she has had, paid and took her to swimming lessons, paid and took her to dance. Lots of sleep overs, Chaperoning field trips. I could go on. I am so sad. Thanks though.

This is the statute in my state. Not sure what the difference is between with or without petition. 25-4-52. Visitation rights for grandparents--Enforcement by circuit court. The circuit court may grant grandparents reasonable rights of visitation with their grandchild, with or without petition by the grandparents, if the visitation is in the best interests of the grandchild and: (1) If the visitation will not significantly interfere with the parent- child relationship; or (2) If the parent or cu…

Yes, very. She has a TPO. My son was out of town for a few days. When he returned they and all their belongings gone. I did speak to my son and he agrees to let the lawyer know that we are a big part of their lives. Thank you. Edit. The day after my son returned to town, DIL called my husband and said she filed for divorce and it was not her intention to keep us from the kids after things get sorted out. But still worried.

I am unfamiliar with the rules. New to Reddit. Has anyone tried to get grandparent supervision? My son and daughter-in-law are are just starting proceedings for divorce and custody proceedings. Should I wait until the outcome to ask to see my granddaughters? As a side note, I retired early to be granddaughter’s day care since she was 2 years old. She is now 9. I am thinking I need to wait for the hearing.
