Bottom line is I need to not drink. Example of where I slipped up this weekend, went out to a bar had 4 tall beers, split some chips and queso, and had some chicken tenders and fries. That one meal was well over what I should have had for the day. Disgusting? You might be right. I allowed what was supposed to be 1-2 beers and some grilled chicken turn into 4 beers, and fried food loaded in calories. To be clear, I'm dropping weight every single week consistently. I'm happy with that, but not hap…

OYS #7 41yo, 6'0", 258lb, FAT. LTR for 19 years, 5 kids I've read the sidebar and most of the books, working on implementation now. Vacation is 2 weeks away, it's clear I'm going to miss my goal weight. I've seen progress, but missed the mark overall. I've de-prioritized my long term goals for cheat meals on the weekends/date nights. Lesson learned, I have more plans 6+ months from now where I can see if I've truly learned here or not, as I want to be much lighter by then. In June of '22 I have …

OYS #6 41yo, 6'0", 259lb, FAT. LTR for 19 years, 5 kids I've read the sidebar and most of the books, working on implementation now. I was banned a month ago for rule 9, disagreed with it and failed at being as disciplined with my diet for a couple weeks following that. It's not directly related to the ban, but I allowed myself to take a victim mindset in a few areas all at the same time. I've been pissed, about a lot of stuff. I feel like I'm changing too slowly. I want the cheat codes, cause I'…

OYS #5 41yo, 6'0", 261lb, fat. LTR for 19 years, 5 kids I've read the sidebar and most of the books, working on implementation now. I lost 1 pound this week, putting me at 36 pounds lost total. My weight was up and down this week, but averages at 261. It seems like my scale progress has slowed, however clothes are fitting better, and I'm getting comments from people noticing a change this week. I plan to keep at it as-is. I feel more confident in my lifts, though I still have a long way to go in…

Awesome - very helpful. I'm slightly above .4 pounds a day lost, but just like you said I did a re-feed this last weekend and put on 6 pounds. I was fairly confident I was losing actual fat prior to that since it was steady after the initial few pounds, but the fact that I added back on so quick had me questioning. It's been several days, and I'm still 3 pounds heavier than my low previously, but I'm not changing anything just yet.

Maybe consider changing to low impact the day after lifting, definitely on an empty stomach. You'll burn fat as your fuel source & keep more of your muscle gains Roger that. Agree 100% on an audiobook or similar while doing cardio. That's what I'm doing each morning while fasting. Checking out audio books from the sidebar, or here lately the Rule Zero guys. I sprinkle in some financial content as well, but generally I've been enjoying learning while getting moving, makes the time pass faster for…

You always have good advice for the physical aspect. I'll apply your feedback pain creeps back up, for now I've had 2 additional cardio sessions pain-free so I may have lucked out. 1 directly after leg day. Keep in mind part of what I'm fighting against is my mental toughness. I'm working hard to push through any discomfort or excuses and keep progressing towards my goal. That said, aggravating an injury that's developing won't help me hit the goal either, so I appreciate you calling it out. Fin…

Dude, that link is awesome, incredibly relevant and helpful for me. I'm going to have to read it a few more times, but will make it a point to kill the goblin at least once a day. This timing is good, my mother in law is in town from Spain with her new husband - I'll have plenty of chances to kill the BSG this week. I don't have anyone to talk about these thoughts with yet. I have a small social circle, and the guys I normally hang with are very blue pill. I plan to drop some more weight and p…

I got part way through SGM, but felt like I wasn't ready for all that. I'm not attractive, which I guess is still being stuck in my own mental prison, but it's true. As I'm writing this, I guess it's a covert contract I have in my mind around: "If I get more fit, she'll respond more or better to the efforts I make in bed". I have been much more aggressive in bed recently than I have been in the past, because I'm just tired of not getting the sex I want. It seems to go well in the moment, but the…

I think my problem is I am trying to fix everything at once and this is a mistake. I turned the tv off feeling beaten and useless and went into the garden and lifted for the first time in a few weeks Doesn't sound to me like you're trying to fix anything if you haven't lifted in a few weeks. My waist is the same size as yours, and lifting is everything to me right now. Not sitting on the fucking couch after jacking off.

OYS #4 ( OYS #1, #2, #3) 41yo, 6'0", 262lb, fat. LTR for 19 years, 5 kids I've read the sidebar and most of the books, working on implementation now. I lost 2 pounds this week, putting me at 35 pounds lost total. However, at the time of writing this I weighed in at 266, 2 days ago I was 260. I'm trying to focus on the average over the week, but I'd be lying if I said seeing the 266 this morning didn't piss me off. I guess though, I've been pissed off much of the week. My lifts are improving, I'm…

OYS #3 ( OYS #1, #2 ) 41yo, 6'0", 264lb, fat. LTR for 19 years, 5 kids I've read the sidebar and most of the books - now I'm focused on taking action. This week I’m down another 2 pounds. Overall I'm down 33 pounds. My goal was to hit 235 by mid sept for a vacation. I started off with more aggressive weight loss, could have been water weight, but am now thinking it's a stretch to hit 235 on time. I'm ok with this, as 2 pounds a week seems healthy and is still good progress. My original goal was …

OYS #2 ( OYS #1 ) 41yo, 6'0", 266lb, fat. LTR for 19 years, 5 kids I've read the sidebar and most of the books - now I'm focused on taking action. This week I’m down another 2 pounds. This is averaged across the week, with a weigh-in each morning first thing. Overall I'm down 31 pounds. I remain on pace to hit my initial goal weight of 235 by mid-sept. I'm continuing my compound lifts for upper body and isolation exercises for lower body. I had reached out to a power lifting gym, and had an appoi…

'Haven't missed a day' meaning I haven't slept in to my previous wake time. I agree on the snooze button, so far this week I'm up right on time. I've found if I don't get out of bed when I first hear it, I start to rationalize sleeping longer or skipping. Also, I've had to tell myself even if I did sleep in, it wouldn't be quality sleep, I'd still be tired, etc.

Your OYS is one of the reasons I decided to start posting again. That said, my focus right now is discipline, lifting safely/effectively, and consistency vs. training for max muscle gains. No doubt I'll be to that place soon, and will keep DC in mind when I get there. The guide is great, I bookmarked it.

OYS #1 41yo, 6'0", 268lb, fat. LTR for 19 years, 5 kids I've read the sidebar and most of the books - now I'm focused on taking action. I've lurked for a year, made it to OYS 10 before, thought I had the cheat codes, slacked off, and now I don't like where I am again. I yo-yo'd down from 297 to 243 last year, and got back up to 280 as of a month ago. So, overall I'm down 29 pounds currently. My first goal was to hit 243 by the time I go on vacation with extended family mid-sept. I set the goal o…
