No, the maternal names only last one generation. The child takes their dad's dad's name and their mom's dad's name.

It goes down later in pregnancy, but it's still higher than normal. I'm a medical lab scientist and when ever we break out a new lot of bHCG tests we QC then with manufacturer controls and also patient controls. For the positive patient control I always just grab a sample from L&D and it tests positive.

Good point. My work has nearly 15:1 women (hospital) and our restrooms are like this. I don't complain because it makes sense. (Although I do wonder if it would go the other way in a male dominated workplace, honesty I hadn't thought about it before)
