When I went through my divorce, I leaned on my family and friends a lot. I never tried to bring the mood down but I never lied or hid what was happening. I had this for the longest time, and essentially in the end I just got tired of not being true to myself. Doing things that I didn’t want to, always compromising, never truly happy. I think the biggest thing is simply being you without expectations. Confidence without bravado is attractive. This comes from being yourself and more importantly being happy and content with who you are. I think it is important to try to escalate things within the first few weeks simply to ensure you are conveying the right message.
