I don't know how it works in other countries but in the UK the easiest way is to imagine consent is a glass of water. They are far from independent when it comes to criticism of the police and the CPS. But... the scrutiny that victims of sex crimes are put under before anyone is ever charged is like no other crime. What was the misconduct the police admitted to out of interest? Because the facts here would suggest attempting to pervert the course of justice which is way more serious than professional misconduct. The real CCTV will not be freeze frames like this and it always worries me when someone shows partial evidence in their defence. The real CCTV would probably show things much more clearly. There are some, there is no getting around that, but often it's a grey area. The larger portion of false allegations are where there is a very strong suspicion it is false and that makes a conviction unsafe, so it never gets to trial. The problem is that society today would crucify the police if they did nothing just because she lied in the past.
