Oh give me a break. You act as if everyone is training boys to be sex fiends from the day they were born. It's more subtle than that, and not so deliberate. That's what makes it so challenging to change it. If you want to go that route, how about we train our girls not to assault or abuse boys and thinking they can get away with it. Generally sources aren't needed for common knowledge. Maybe if they made a more explicit one like "98% of rapes are committed by men" they would want to cite some sources. While there will be variation in the actual number from study to study based on the population studied, variations in the definition of rape, and correction for underreporting, the tendency is still pretty clear and I've yet to see a study which hasn't found that a majority of rapes are committed by men. because it's kind of true? i mean, i know sexual violence against men (especially by women) is under-reported and that is definitely an issue, but let's not delude ourselves into thinking that the vast majority of rapists aren't men.
