I read an intense New Yorker piece over the summer about how and why the Radical Feminist movement hates the Transgender movement and it just seems that the RadFems come from a place of incredible hurt, hate and victimhood and are entirely unable to think about the problems faced by others. There is a legitimate theory out there that Gloria Steinem was a CIA plant in the Feminist movement to get it to focus not on issues of class and race but issues of sexuality that matter most to upper middle class white women. What I think /u/smatsy is saying, and apologies if I'm putting words in his mouth, is that feminism is a large tent that encompasses many beliefs, some of which are despicable, but most of which are not. /u/TRPACC, I don't doubt that you've come across self-described feminists who spew hate, but the heart and soul of feminism is equality of opportunity and treatment, not to game the system to allow women a leg up.

At the time they knew that the semen on her did not match any of the 5 subjects, but some semen did match that of her boyfriend. It is entirely possible for a rape/mugging to occur without the perpetrator's semen landing on the victim, so a lack of semen would not have exonerated them, especially when they all were in the park that day and "confessed" guilt.

My point is that both Mens and Womens rights movements are great at deflecting the overarching problems with our society by merely blaming the other gender. I disagree that this option is not open to men. Women get college degrees in greater rates than men do. Men also are infinitely more likely than women to marry someone with less education than them. That means there are a good deal of women with high paying jobs who are interested in marrying men with degrees from elite universities. Many of those women will not want to leave the workforce after having kids and then their husbands can have the same opportunity original commenter had.
