It wasn't so much I didn't think it existed as I couldn't imagine the type of person who would cheat. I just kind of imagined everyone was like redditors who'd loudly and vehemently condemn cheating. But then, like you, I met people in the workplace who'd pretty casually flirt and cheat with people despite being in a relationship or even engaged.

Yeah. Like it's unfortunate that SMV ages are unaligned, but I can't blame women for not being chaste or whatever for a single good man when there's absolutely no guarantee that that "single good man" won't divorce you for an hot 20 yo when you're both 50.

It's game theory. Say all men collectively agree not to chase women because they're assets, and they'll let women chase them. If one man defects and starts chasing women, he'll get tons of ladies. Then all the other men are forced back to chasing or it'll be the other guys who chase who get girls.
