It sounds like some of his panic is because you expect him to plan a date night that matches your interests more than his interests. I think @lateralthinker13 made an excellent point - he is reticent to plan another date night that you won't like. When you want to do a more adventurous or active date, I think you need to continue to be the person that plans this. Plan all the details for kayaking day trip, and make that a date that you lead. Consider yourself the host - pack the lunch, dry cloth…

If leadership actually cared about hiring more women, when they find that they don't have qualified female candidates, they should be evaluating their recruiting process -- not hiring unqualified women. Take down the job posting, try something new -- new job boards, new advertisment, new wording, and then start the recruiting process over again. This lazy hiring just gives women like you (awesome and competent at your work) a worse reputation.
