I don't think I've ever been offended by a compliment but back when I was dating, I was always found it incredibly off-putting when a suitor only/primarily complimented me on my physical appearance.

I'm in my late 20's and am very rarely approached since I began wearing an engagement/wedding ring. Prior to this, I would say I was cold approached approximately once a month. In college, when I was on campus every day and at a bar or a party every weekend, it was more of a weekly occurrence. For the most part, I enjoyed being approached. It was flattering and I did my best to respond graciously regardless of my interest level. The only problem I had was when a man would become hostile and/or a…

It is said on here often enough that RP information isn't inherently abusive or manipulative. Regardless, it would appear that many TRPers apply RP information in ways that many non-RPers consider abusive or manipulative. Reading your example here, the commentary in my head is: "OK. So this is just guys teaching each other flirting 101. They make up silly terms to describe bitchy women saying bitchy things and silly terms for what the rest of us call bantering and quipping." However, reading a g…

This is exactly what I was thinking. I'm reminded of an old Sopranos episode in which Tony is talking about something "dirty" he did with his mistress. His therapist asks "why don't you try and do that with your wife instead?". And he gets pissed off and says something like "that's the mother of my children, she kisses my kids with that mouth!" Because of course, a good mother/good girl/respectable lady would never participate in or enjoy certain sexual activity.

No. My stomach is actually turning just thinking about it, primarily the being dehumanized bit. meanwhile you were spanking her ass and shoving your cock down her throat not 5 minutes before. It sounds more like he's talking about rough sex, which many women enjoy. That poster could very well be reading the negative reactions from women here, thinking the good old trusty "watch what they do, not what they say!" - when many of us wouldn't consider a woman who likes to be spanked on the ass during…

I think many men (at least outside of TRP) do care about these qualities in women. But it's true that women are more likely to verbally state a preference for these qualities in men than vice versa. I wonder if it could have something to do with the negative connotation of the phrase "strong, independent woman"? If the next time my husband gets together with his friends for football and beer, he brags to them: "Guys, my wife is so assertive and opinionated!", what do you think their reaction wou…

I think what matters is whether the woman in question fluctuates between quick, casual sex and a thorough vetting process depending on the man or if she has switched from the first strategy to the second entirely following negative experiences/outcomes with the first. I have seen the latter happen a few times, but I wouldn't exactly call it a problem - it seems reasonable and understandable that a woman who has had a bad time with quick, casual sex would stop engaging in it. I, too, quit doing t…

Yes, I would respect him the same. Yes, I could still be attracted to him. Depending on the circumstances, I may feel less secure about his ability to protect me, but I don't feel the need to be protected by a man; I own a gun so that I can protect myself. I don't find male rape to be a comical topic in the slightest. I suspect that anyone who laughs about it holds the erroneous opinion that it is not possible for men to be raped.

Just a thought, but maybe health-related negatives. Perhaps the obesity epidemic would spiral further out of control if the romantic/sexual incentive to be in shape ceased to exist?

No. I would not trust anyone to drive me around like that. It would be a completely unpleasant experience for me. But if God decided to swoop down upon me and told me I had to pick between being scared three quarters to death by being driven around by someone of my choice driving like a maniac or absolute and immediate death, yes, I would opt for a professional driver. I feel certain my husband would use his rational male brain to understand the logic behind my choice :)

There have been studies that have found a link between the physical arousal/adrenaline rush of scary situations and sexual attraction. I remember reading one where participants ranked their dates more attractive after riding a roller coaster with them than before (or something to that effect). So it may not necessarily be the behavior of the man per se, but the adrenaline produced in the situation. It's a great weekend to take a date to a haunted house and give it a try!

I only watched the first video. It's hard to tell. She seems to vacillate between terror and exhilaration. I'm inclined to think she is actually enjoying herself for the most part - in which case I would not call him a jerk. Personally, I would be beyond furious. My husband knows I'm fearful of reckless driving/car accidents and thus doesn't drive like a jackass when I'm in the car. If he were to decide to do something like this with the knowledge he possesses (or without enough knowledge to kno…

I believe Trump finally signed a pledge that he will not run as an independent and will instead support the republican candidate after all the heat he took for initially refusing. But who knows if he will stick to that.

BP's (and to some extent PP's) are Liberals Probably true for the majority, based on the political commentary that gets made over at TBP. But I'm a BP Libertarian. About those elections. I don't particularly care who gets elected here in the States as I think the majority of candidates from either side are corrupt and morally bankrupt and that applies doubly so to those who actually have a chance of being elected. I will most likely be voting 3rd party.

Really? You are met with as much outrage as the men who post things like women are worthless outside of sex and reproduction? I've been reading/lurking on here for a few weeks and have come to view you (and several other users here) as reasonable men with interesting things to say which don't evoke any anger from me, even when I disagree. But perhaps I haven't been around long enough and am in the minority.

Sure. It's just an ideology I disagree with - I'm not personally mad at it's existence. The last sentence of my comment reads: I haven't seen any posts over there about how single mothers or fathers are subhuman scum or how an entire gender is literally only good for sex and reproductive purposes. To clarify, I think many, if not most, of the people who get angry reading TRP do so because of all the hateful and malicious "anger phase" nonsense. I doubt, for instance, that the rationale male webs…

What is there to get mad at RPW for? I'm pretty sure the primary reason they have a negative reputation at all is just because they associated themselves with TRP. But they mostly just seem like a group of like-minded women talking about their similarities. I haven't seen any posts over there about how single mothers or fathers are subhuman scum or how an entire gender is literally only good for sex and reproductive purposes.

The bit about her romantic and sexual past, sure. That's fact based, and I take no issue with someone wanting to know that information or getting pissed off if they were lied to about it. But the rest is just opinion and speculation, don't you think? We haven't received any information to indicate Nikki was actually following the AFBB strategy (unless I missed something) besides that someone who reads about AFBB on the internet said she was.

about Nikki’s past guys Sure, this is something Nikki's fiancé should know about if he cares to know. that she is settling for him, that she was only into White guys, and is only marrying him for security. I'm confused about how Nikki's cousin even knew these things? Did Nikki explicitly state these things? If so, yes, even more so than the first one. But it sounds more like these were just opinions - and probably very biased ones as they were coming from someone so heavily influenced by TRP. so…

Oh, I wasn't challenging her existence (besides the no morning breath part perhaps). I know a few women who sound like this, to various degrees. I was just curious if his views about women are mostly formed on his relationship with this one woman in particular.

TRP attacks the woman's chastity because TRP thinks it's important, not because the woman thinks it's important (she clearly doesn't). What about women as a group could TRP possibly attack that all, or the vast majority of them, place high value on? That's the thing: women as a group are much larger and more heterogeneous than TRP as a group. It's simply easier to determine what a huge percentage of TRP places high value on, making them more vulnerable to a more personalized attack. But, all in …

I think you bring up a good point about some of the nasty comments that get made over on TBP. I'm not a big fan of that. But I don't think they are made in the spirit you are attributing to them. I don't think the average BPer hates or looks down on virgin or incel men. I think they just assume that a large portion of men who go about spewing hatred of sluts and whores are probably men who have very little sexual success. Also, some people at TBP get angry when they read TRP posts. And people fr…

I felt like I was on a rollercoaster just reading this! I'm curious, is this woman the primary reason you believe women will always leave/cheat on their partner for a "better" man?
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/15 09:28 PM

As presented here, I do. But I do not buy the hyperextention of the idea that all/most women are constantly looking for an upgrade and will leave/cheat on a man she has committed to just because a better looking/wealthier/more "alpha" man comes along.

Well, I certainly agree with you that this does happen and it's a problem. But how big of a problem? I know my personal experience doesn't carry any particular weight around here - but when I was in college and went out frequently, my girlfriends and I all always took precautions to protect ourselves. I knew of people hooking up and having sex while drunk all the time; I never heard of one instance of someone crying rape in the morning when they regretted it. I mean, there would be dozens of fal…

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. There is a lot going on here, much of which I don't have the time to address. I haven't read Brave New World in several years, so I'll not be responding to your take on it. It sounds about right from what I remember. Based upon the links you've provided, I think you've made the mistake of assuming that I must be a liberal feminist SJW who goes about screaming and raging about gamer gate or whatever other silly non-issues. I don't even identify as a feminist. …

I don't think anyone has claimed that empowerment = happiness. The connection you're trying to draw reminds me a bit of a scene from Huxley's Brave New World: "But I like the inconveniences." "We don't," said the Controller. "We prefer to do things comfortably." "But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin." "In fact," said Mustapha Mond, "you're claiming the right to be unhappy." "All right then," said the Savage defiantly…

My point is just that people of both genders are probably at their least logical and most emotional when it comes to romantic relationships. So a person who only dates women is going to see this heightened emotional state more frequently in women. And a person who only dates men is going to see this heightened emotional state more frequently in men. I don't believe either gender is superior or inferior to the other. I view masculinity and femininity as complimentary energies rather than adversar…

I think this has can be explained by women's understanding that there are some men out there who would, if not entirely lose respect for her because of immediate sex upon meeting, at least stop seeing her as LTR material. So, basically, what this hypothetical scenario would suggest to me is that the girlfriend in question did not care about Chad's opinion of her, but she does care about your opinion of her. She was not looking for a LTR from Chad or she probably wouldn't have banged him the firs…

Well, at least you're consistent! I do agree that stereotypes exist (and are frequently humorous) exactly because they contain some truth. We just disagree about how large and comprehensive those truths are. One last point: (though the "Husbands are stupid and lazy" is a recent development existing only in feminized societies) Could I not make a similar point (to the one I think you're hinting at here) that perhaps women were historically portrayed as crazy, or medically diagnosed as hysterical,…

Interesting information and quotes; thank you for providing those. But in the interest of being consistent, surely you must believe all of the tropes and stereotypes about men as well? Men as the villains and abusers (of poor, innocent, victimized women)? Men as incapable of thinking with their heads in favor of thinking with their dicks? Men as emotionless? Husbands as stupid, lazy buffoons who are little more than children (for their mature, responsible wives to take care of)? Have you ever he…

This is most evident when you date women, because it's when you can see them at their most vulnerable. Have you considered this right here is the very answer to why you are only experiencing and witnessing women toss logic out the window in favor of emotion? You date women, not men - so you see women at their most vulnerable, not men. I'd argue that it is romantic relationships, after all, that bring out the worst in all of us. (But hopefully the best, too.) It would seem to me, based on my expe…

The same ideas can be expressed in a different way that would make it acceptable to TBP. How? How could "women are incapable of logic, loyalty or empathy" be expressed in such a way to be acceptable to TBP? If you mean by saying something like "SOME women do not demonstrate an ability to think logically and/or do not exhibit loyalty or empathy" then, sure, that's acceptable (at least to me, personally). But that's not just expressed differently; it's an entirely different thing, no? I absolutely…

I'm a little confused here. You think TRP and TBP are the same thing just because they both claim/concede that women want to have sex with men they are attracted to? I mean, of course women want to have sex with men they're attracted to. I have no problem with TRP making that statement. Nor with TRP telling men to get in better shape or dress better to attract women. TBP disagrees with TRP for many other reasons. Like TRP's beliefs that women are incapable of logic, loyalty, empathy, etc. Or tha…

I suspect this is simply a result of interracial coupling becoming more acceptable than it was in the past. White women who find black men attractive are now more free to act on that attraction without social repercussion. Also, I literally can't think of one woman who has ever expressed a preference for exceptionally large penises to me. And believe you me, women like to talk about this stuff amongst themselves.

Comments that do not subscribe to popular opinion get down voted into oblivion, even if said comment is not pro-TRP.

This is sort of difficult to answer because I don't think I actually know anyone who practices TRP. But I did have an old boyfriend who, looking back, practiced something similar to dread game in our relationship. He was very keen on making sure I was aware other women fancied him. If he didn't like something I'd done, he'd subtly remind me he had other options. If a woman chatted him up while we were out, rather than politely removing him from the situation, he'd bask in the attention and flirt…

Wow! I'm glad to hear things have improved and you are successfully co-parenting your son. Just a quick question, if you don't mind. How do you reconcile the perspectives brought forth by the book "Sex at Dawn" with the perspectives of Rationale Male and the like? I really loved "Sex at Dawn" as well, but isn't it pretty much at direct odds with the TRP stuff?

Yeah, absolutely. I agree with you and even gave the same example of myself having been blacked out on nights where other people have later told me I was functioning properly. If I had sex with someone during that period, I'd never, ever consider it rape, but there are some situations where I'd still feel taken advantage of. And that's when I'd accept responsibility for my own decision to get that drunk and put myself in a vulnerable position for that to happen, and hopefully go on to make bette…

I'd consider it morally wrong to knowingly have sex with someone who is "blacked out", but I'd not consider it rape so long as the other person was conscious and gave consent. I think that's a harmful idea to foster, not only for the person who is going to get their life ruined by an accusation of rape, but also for the other person who isn't going to learn to take personal responsibility for their actions and exercise some caution when it comes to drinking. Unfortunately, it's not always clear …
