She then said I was mostly right but feminism "needs reclaimed from the misandrists." I'd say she's spot on, there. I believe it should go either of two ways: 1) Feminism can pursue women's issues and support/consent to MRAs doing the same for men, with more collaborative efforts between the two on issues affecting both parties; or, 2) Feminism can purge itself of the misandry within its ranks and tackle both mens' and womens' issues altogether. Australian women are sexually assaulted at twice the rate of women worldwide. More than one in five — or 2.3 million — Australian women aged over 15 are survivors of rape. But only 17% of sexual assaults are reported to police and many do not tell anyone when they are sexually assaulted. And the source they got that from... In Australia, 1 in 3 women will experience physical violence and 1 in 5 women will experience sexual assault at some time in their lives. It is estimated that 126,000 inciden…

I know you're not the one to blame here but I wanted to add that just because some groups can have an overlap of opinion does not mean it's ok to group them together.

Why would any man want to be with a woman who self-proclaims to be high maintenance and expensive? Who on earth wants to date a fucking irritating leech?

I'm of course only speaking anecdotally and I have been overseas for almost a year now, so you can take my comments with a pinch of salt. The majority of my exposure to any "gender-related issues" on mass media came in those TV commercials that aired every night or so. Here's a taste, although they're a bit old. I haven't read what the others have written yet.

Just to add to that, there's a huge domestic violence campaign going on in Australia that IMO has bumped the country towards the feminist side of the spectrum.
