That is a situation with no good outcome. I've seen something like that go down with a friends relative, messy divorce, crazy mom and all that. One thing that helped me with that exact problem is this: How many people do you see outside whenever you walk up and down the street? Now how many of those people stay in your mind for more then 10 seconds after you pass them? People don't usually care about any random person walking around, we just overly obsess about that. Keep in mind that he will need as much time to process what you said to him as you needed to come to the conclusion of what he did to harm you. Realising you harmed your child is painful, so he probably doesn't want to admit that to himself, so he'll always dismiss it at first.
