U.S House passes bill banning "Genital and bodily mutilation of a minor" - Doesn't include circumcisionIt sickens me that prepucectomy (circumcision) isn't listed. Apparently, it's OK to remove part of the penis but not all of it (penectomy). I find it odd that clitorectomy isn't listed. Granted, it is included in the vague A: Female Genital Mutilation section, but then vaginoplasty and vulvoplasty are, too. | /r/MensRights | 19/12/25 01:46 PM
Am I wrong for really only caring about circumcision?Ditto. Saving boys, and the men they will become, from this particular, insidious form of sexual assault is the only issue I donate my time and money to. Oh, I'll be staffing the Intact America tent at Indy Pride on June 10. | /r/MensRights | 14/05/23 11:57 AM

What feminists think of male genital mutilation.I've been actively working to stop male child genital cutting (aka circumcision) for 25 years. I'm on the board for Intact America. We just had this conversation a week ago. I appreciate your position. It is just like mine. I've had the same thoughts a hundred times and in dozens of conversations. Protecting ALL children from genital harm seems like a slam-dunk, to me. But diehard feminists and many anti-FGM activists don't think so. They think of it as a competition. It's not. Sad, but true. | /r/MensRights | 15/02/23 02:12 PM

| -30 | Woman protesting infant circumcision in Ocean City, MarylandThey are not asking because they want to know. They are asking if the reader knows. My guess is that they can't recite the so-called 16 functions, but for some reason they think the rest of us should be able to. | /r/MensRights | 18/12/22 02:46 PM |

Woman protesting infant circumcision in Ocean City, MarylandSounds like hypospadias. It is the most common intersex form. In most cases, nothing needs to be done if urination isn't painful, the boy just needs to learn to pee more carefully or pee sitting down. In other cases, less invasive plastic surgery will do the trick. Amputation is rarely indicated. More than likely, you were cut because you didn't look 'right.' It is called gender-norming surgery. Sorry for your loss. | /r/MensRights | 18/12/22 01:32 PM
Woman protesting infant circumcision in Ocean City, MarylandThat photo was taken about five years ago. I know the woman. And the intactivist movement has a LOT of women involved. The largest group, Intact America, is lead by a woman. | /r/MensRights | 18/12/22 01:23 PM

Woman protesting infant circumcision in Ocean City, MarylandI'm sure that's what they told you. It is likely that there was a safer alternative. | /r/MensRights | 18/12/22 01:19 PM
Woman protesting infant circumcision in Ocean City, MarylandMale genital cutting removes a functional and valuable part of a newborn boy's sexual organ. Eventually, he'll become a man. It reduces most of the penis's sensitivity, thereby reducing sexual gratification for him and his partner, too. A cut man is 4.5 times more likely to acquire ED. And, since it is an early trauma, it causes permanent damage to his developing brain. So that's a lot of bad, right? | /r/MensRights | 18/12/22 01:18 PM
FeminismI've been saying the name sucks, too. But they've had 30-40 to change the name, which tells me that the leadership has a hidden agenda. You can't promote equality with a biased name. | /r/MensRights | 04/08/22 02:44 PM

Why don't more people care about circumcision aka male genital mutilation? It's not MOSTLY a religious ritual. Less than 1 in 40 newborn circumcisions are performed within the context of a ritual. And, that ratio is getting smaller every year. | /r/MensRights | 05/02/18 02:23 PM
The ACLU supports banning surgeries on intersex children but fought against a ban of Male Genital MutilationAnd male circumcision, and female circumcision. It's called a medical exemption. | /r/MensRights | 28/10/17 02:29 PM
The ACLU supports banning surgeries on intersex children but fought against a ban of Male Genital MutilationSo? Even the zero tolerance FGM law which forbids even a ritual nick has a medical exemption. | /r/MensRights | 28/10/17 02:28 PM
The ACLU supports banning surgeries on intersex children but fought against a ban of Male Genital MutilationI have to begrudgingly agree with you. To the ACLU, rights of adults trump the rights of children, even if those rights are specious. Note that the Federal FGM law does not have a religious exemption. And the Supreme Courts' Prince v. Massachusetts ruling says parents' cannot use their religion against their children. The ACLU is straddling a very narrow fence and it is getting narrower by their statement protecting intersex. Soon that fence will be too weak to support their sexism. | /r/MensRights | 28/10/17 02:27 PM

If your circumcision (as an infant) was botched you can't sue and have no legal recourse. You CAN sue. An injury incurred in childhood becomes actionable when that child turns the age of majority, 18 years in most states. At that point, the SoL kicks in. | /r/MensRights | 10/09/17 01:23 PM

Mother arranges for daughter to be circumcised and is present for the procedure. She faces 20 years in prison. Father faces life because he has a penis.I've been following the case closely, and even have some of the court documents. You are confused about the players. Here's what has happened. Two Minnesota mothers arranged with female Detroit doctor Nagarwala to perform a religious circumcision on their daughters. Nagarwala, who was working in a hospital at the time, used Dr. Attar's clinic with his permission. His wife assisted Nagarwala. Apparently, this practice had been going on for ten years. | 6 | An interesting form of rape apologeticsLet's be fair. Your comparison should have said "...if you had to choose between having your genitals mutilated by force and..." | /r/MensRights | 26/12/16 03:44 PM
An interesting form of rape apologeticsYou either misread the post, or are using a strawman logic fallacy in order to better attack the claim. Note that the OP said "genital mutilation" and then went on to talk about minors. That conflates to the forced genital mutilation of minors. You then compared that to a procedure elected by a fully informed adult. Think about that for a minute. | /r/MensRights | 26/12/16 03:43 PM
People always say we shouldn't compare male genital mutilation to female genital mutilation because FGM is more extreme, but you hardly ever hear someone say "Oh, no, I'm totally fine with the milder forms of female genital mutilation!"…The real problem is that they use the most severe form of FGM for their comparisons, but then don't select the most severe forms of MGM. Keep in mind that both are rare. The most common form of FGM, female circumcision, is remarkably similar to the most common form of MGM, male circumcision. | 3 | U.S. Code Title 18 § 116 protects girls from genital mutilation. Do you support extending that protection to boys as well? The Severity Argument of whether FGM or MGM is worse is moot. But because of knee-jerk reactions and hearing, "FGM is horrid, but male circumcision is beneficial," I wrote an essay to dispel this nonsense once and for all. https://www.academia.edu/9141152/FGM_horrid_but_MGM_beneficial_Not_so_fast_ | /r/MensRights | 19/01/16 01:11 PM
U.S. Code Title 18 § 116 protects girls from genital mutilation. Do you support extending that protection to boys as well?Comparisons between FGM and MGM are inevitable when this topic comes up. Equally inevitable are those who claim one is worse than the other. I call this the Severity Argument. I've been hearing it for 20 years. Severity is not the measure. In a court room you are guilty or not. Severity of the crime doesn't make you more or less criminal. Severity is simply a mitigating factor in sentencing. | /r/MensRights | 19/01/16 01:09 PM
U.S. Code Title 18 § 116 protects girls from genital mutilation. Do you support extending that protection to boys as well?Yes. The law should be rewritten in gender neutral language. Ironically, if the Equal Rights Amendment had been ratified, this law would have protected all sexes or would have not been passed at all. | /r/MensRights | 19/01/16 01:05 PM

Circumcision and Snarl WordMutilation is accurate. It is a medical term found in medical dictionaries. It is just as valid as the word circumcision. Medically, a mutilation is the result of any unnecessary surgery. Every medical association in the world calls circumcision unnecessary. I think it's time more people called circumcision mutilation so we can stop this barbaric practice. | /r/MensRights | 08/06/15 05:29 PM
| 3 | Can I be a super liberal, Republican Party-hating, Bernie Sanders supporter, while still being a Men's Rights Activist?I think the days of fitting into just one pigeonhole are gone. Being an engaged, critical-thinking person means you'll have many perspectives, some of the differing and even conflicting. I have been involved in gender equity for 45 years. I support men's rights, and for the past 20 years I've devoted my life to stopping male infant circumcision. Did you tell them no, or stop, or please don't touch me? The reason I ask is that I've been in a lot of therapy groups and people who were molested at a young age often fail to develop good boundaries.
