Whose fault is it for prioritising messages from advertisments over your own, actual experience?

The OP is hopeless. Of course women will publicly claim to have loads of empathy when asked in public. Their actions speak louder (as always). Can women show empathy for men? Sure, but it is way less than I’ve seen in reverse. Women give out more “man up” type responses than men do, and tend to run out of patience with struggling men (individually and collectively) way faster. Female empathy is like female attraction: highly concentrated. Male empathy is much more evenly spread out (with an obvi…

Where are you walking? In London it is not “every so often”….it’s CONSTANT.

I really don’t get the PPD thing where if you want to leave. Normal comment you have to do it down here. It is a complete and utter waste of everyone’s time and attention. Anyway, as someone below 5’7” the height thing was obviously the most depressing.

I don’t get women being insecure about their bodies, while also CONSTANTLY fending off suitors. It is a complete failure to match inputs with analysis.

If men were being regularly selected for sex they wouldn’t be open to manipulation or suggestion in the first place! Think before you post.

If you match with a beautiful woman WHY WOULD YOU NOT MESSAGE HER!? This isn’t the olden days of OLD when you sent messages out to whomever, without a “matching” system.

I’ve travelled all over the world and have eaten countless amazing and interesting cuisines. There is a huge variety in the precise way people construct their diets, but after 1492 and the global convergence of pre-contact foodways almost every culture on Earth has adopted more or less the same basics: a staple starch, a source of fat, a sample range of vegetables (some root vegetables and some leafy greens), protectives (spices, garlic, onions), usually a notable source of plant protein, and al…

Why Judaism? If you “want to convert” doesn’t that mean you already believe…and if you already believe aren’t you already converted (in a way)? (I respect there’s all the study and ritual of formal conversion, I mean more philosophically)

What counts as walking? I would kind of agree with you (I much prefer people who exercise), but I don’t include your normal walking/cycling to work as “physical activity”. For me it has to go above and beyond the bare necessities of life.

This 100%. The people who say “sportsball” are always the most obnoxious, preening, superficial types trying to win lame status games in particular (almost always very young and very left wing) social groups. I like American football, and I don’t mind if other people like or don’t like other things…but to act like enjoying a sport is somehow “not what an intellectual does” is just so back-breakingly cringe…
/r/PurplePillDebate15/05/24 06:40 AM

Only the most boring, culture-less morons “experiment with new diets”. Eat like a human. That’s all you have to do to be healthy. Lots of veggies, some carbs, and a little protein (ideally from an animal). It’s not hard. Every “diet” is pure quackery for people who’ve become totally detached from normal human diets and rhythms of life.

Public etiquette is absolutely critical for me as well. Imagine the paradise we would live in if people took tiny steps to make transport systems work more quickly and efficiently (like moving down inside the carriage).

I hate when people walk side by side, especially in a busy city. It causes absolute chaos for everyone around them. (Not as bad as people who insist on riding their bikes side by side…they deserve to be run over)

“Vetting” in general isn’t a problem….its that women vet for narcissism (i.e. they actively select for it), and then turn around and get upset when the narcissist they chose turns out to be….a narcissist. Likewise, women vet for “confidence” (shit-testing of various kinds), but not for things like honesty or financial literacy. If the tests were well designed and produced reliably good outcomes then no one would complain….we’d all finally be playing the same game.

Not low self esteem, just reality. I’ve never been in a situation where someone thought I wasn’t great and also wanted to stay with me. They typically just leave if it gets to that point.

I’ve never once said, let alone screamed, “af/bb”. I don’t believe in it. If I’m with a girl I like, and she likes me, I don’t make it any more complicated than it needs to be. Her reasons are hers, and that’s ok.

Does anyone else think it is sick how often women use “great guy” to mean “unfuckable”? I couldn’t imagine a man EVER talking about how “great” a woman is as a way of rejecting them. Women are screwed up in the head.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/24 08:44 AM

What does it mean to “feel safe”? This is not even remotely “self-explanatory”. When I ride my bike to work am I “safe”?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/24 08:42 AM

Even in this well-meaning post you have a funny contradiction: “valuable/adored” and “excited”. If a man values you it is VERY hard to also make you feel “excited”.

What is LA? I never really understand what people mean by “LA” (a place where I grew up). Anything within the county?

It’s not just about big or small. I live in what Americans normally would call a “college town” (or at least the closest British equivalent). So, the city itself is relatively small, but is full of young-ish, interesting, international people. It can be hard to pin anyone down, however, because people are always coming and going.

The sun gives you cancer. You can drown in a puddle of bathtub. Automobile accidents are a major cause of death pretty much everywhere. Where is this “safety”?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/24 04:27 AM

Maybe we understand “safety” differently, but people are arguably never “safe”….the best we can hope for is “safe enough”.

Why? I guess people sort of assume Jay Z is ugly, but I don’t see it. He looks pretty normal to me. If he’s normal and she (in my eyes) is also pretty average (a reasonably pretty face with a very unappealing body)……that is looks matched to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/05/24 07:35 AM
-4

Jay Z and Beyoncé are lokksmatched….they even look similar to each other. (Then again I’ve never thought B was attractive, and I don’t understand why other people do….easily the most hyped person, all around, of the past 20 years)
/r/PurplePillDebate12/05/24 07:12 AM

Fine, when I was 25 I dated a 19 year old (I was a grad student, she was undergrad, obviously). While it’s not a 20 year age gap (obviously), it still needlessly falls into your “weird” category. Gen Z really need to get over their endless hang ups.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/05/24 07:16 PM

The girl I’m seeing is six years younger than me. We’re both in our 30s. Are we “in the same age range” to you?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/05/24 06:47 PM

Without statistics this is meaningless. Every time I’ve looked for confirmation of this I’ve found NEGLIGIBLE increases in any likelihood of birth defects (rising fractions of a percent….).
/r/PurplePillDebate11/05/24 06:41 PM

The odds are against you, let’s be honest, but there’s no harm in going on a date and seeing how it feels. If it works, it works. If it doesn’t, then at least you know and you can move on.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/05/24 06:39 PM

You can’t act like that is a regular occurrence though….you’re being a bit disingenuous. I’m fortunate in that I have a job where you meet new people often, and socialising is a huge part of the work culture (we regularly eat together, drink tea/coffee together in a shared space, etc). I’m fortunate to be in a world where I meet new people all the time….but I very strongly doubt that most people live like that.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/05/24 01:52 PM

When I was 23 I dated a 30 year old. When I was 25 I dated a 19 year old. I did not notice ANY difference in either relationship that could be based on 'age gaps'. Just find someone you like and go for it. Don't over-complicate it.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/05/24 01:00 PM

Ah, yes.....200,000+ years of social evolution will be undone by a single generation of white, middle class, Americans. Sure. Good luck with that! I'll tell my West African and Eastern European friends, I'm sure they'll get a good laugh out of it!
/r/PurplePillDebate11/05/24 12:58 PM

What a bizarre post.... Date whomever you want. Anything else is just over-complicating things.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/05/24 12:31 PM

Good luck finding a culture in any time or place in which boys do not consistently 'act like boys' from a VERY young age. I've been all over the world and I've not found any culture yet in which gender norms are even mildly divergent from 'what you'd expect'. Just give up with the hopeless projection. YOU are the one trying (and laughably failing) to engage in social engineering. What you call "patriarchal society" the rest of us just call "normal". You're the weirdo, not the 98% of people livin…
/r/PurplePillDebate11/05/24 12:11 PM

"The question was a trap to make us look unhinged." Nah, you just are unhinged.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/05/24 11:39 AM

If you spend enough time around very young boys (i.e. not online like a weirdo) you get used to different 'boy'-type behaviour that you rarely see in girls. Sometimes it's easy to pinpoint (stereotypical stuff about trucks, or trains, or whatever), sometimes it is a bit more subtle (ways of acting or moving or speaking). It's hard to explain (and I know you're desperate to jump down my throat for any given example with a "well, actually!"), but it's still real and obvious. You just have to actua…

This. I've NEVER heard a normie talk about shit-testing, even though it is absolutely pervasive once you learn to recognise it. I definitely blew loads of opportunities when I was younger because I thought I was being asked a legit question by a woman, when really I was being shit-tested.

Feel free to play with language all you want, like a good little comrade commissar. You cannot, and will not, change biological reality. “Boys will be boys” is the simple recognition of biological fact. No more, and no less. How one reacts and responds to boys’ behaviour is a whole separate matter, and inherently case-by-case.

No man thinks “everyone is into them”….rather, we have to shoot every shot that comes our way, however narrow the odds, because we are not the sexual selectors. Barking up the wrong tree is common and unavoidable, so long as women refuse to be more explicit (and much less fickle) about their views and intentions.

The quality of life thing is a bit misrepresented here. Quality of life can only be considered relative to everyone else. Otherwise, you’d say a Roman emperor had poor quality of life because he had no internet. The fact is that, pound for pound, everyday people had a much larger slice of the economic pie 50-70 years ago. It was a short-lived period (the trente glorieuses), but it was real (particularly if you were white, although even my Chicano ancestors did better in this period than they had…

This is moronic. Capitalism has produced more ‘free’ people than any other economic system in history. You think that feudal societies are more free? Really? I’m on date four right now and no sex in sight. It doesn’t bother me. If anything, it’s probably for the best based on where both of us are right now. Previously sex tended to come fairly quickly. "Military uniforms, rigs and armor are baggy and unisex enough to fit most women though. " This is factually incorrect, as far as Ukraine is concerned. Do you know any Ukrainians? I work with people who have been intimately involved in the war effort since 2014/5. Trust me, they DO NOT have much kit that actually works for women (so much so that even women currently serving are dependent on clothing and uniform supplements from home/the private sector).
/r/PurplePillDebate06/05/24 02:02 PM

"Many countries were liberated purely through volunteers including my own. " Fighting an insurgency against a colonial power is radically different from trying to fend off an invading army (thus skipping the whole 'colonialism' part entirely!). Imagine where Ireland would be is the English had been kept out, full stop....
/r/PurplePillDebate06/05/24 01:59 PM

The Troubles were a TINY insurgency with a total death toll in the low thousands after DECADES of fighting. The casualty bill of the Troubles was surpassed SIX times over in the first 24 hours of the Somme. When you're fighting an existential, industrialised war of survival you CANNOT survive based on volunteerism alone. It is not, nor has it ever been, possible.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/05/24 01:57 PM

Yeah! People should have just politely asked if anyone wanted to storm the beaches of Normandy in 1944. That would've worked great! (What did Ireland do in the war again? Remind me.... No guilt over sitting on the sidelines twiddling your thumbs during the single greatest military crisis the world has even known?)
/r/PurplePillDebate06/05/24 01:55 PM

"So, what exactly are US tax payers getting in exchange for funding Ukraine?" The serious degradation of one of America's oldest rival's military for the cost of 5% of annual Defence spending, and not a single American killed. That is a strategic BARGAIN. That's even before you get to the massive deterrent effect. Once you say "military conquest is politically acceptable again" you open up Pandora's box to old-style land invasions and occupations.....tens of millions would die over the next 50-1…
/r/PurplePillDebate06/05/24 01:47 PM

"I hate war and conscription in general, and I would flee the country and try to get any male relatives to flee too. From an individual perspective, it's such a silly thing to die for." /r/PurplePillDebate06/05/24 01:44 PM

“Third world” means “neither capitalist west (the first world), nor communist east (the second world)”. It doesn’t mean “poor country”. Some third world countries were decidedly better to live in than some communist countries.

My understanding is that false accusations are pretty rare (less than 10%, and probably less than 5%). Even if you’re just running the numbers you’d be far more right than wrong by believing an accusation, at least in the first instance. The real problem is the rate of unreported sexual assault, which remains sky high.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/05/24 07:57 AM

The OP’s question is moot. Ukraine, like most militaries, has very little equipment to fit women (and I’m just talking the absolute basics: uniforms, body armour, boots, etc.). Even if women were conscripted there’d be no easy way to actually integrate them into the army in the first place (although this is slowly changing). When the initial invasion happened in 2014 Ukrainian women working for the army (training soldiers how to use drones, organising logistical efforts, etc.) were formally unre…
/r/PurplePillDebate06/05/24 07:47 AM

This is why the median age of a Ukrainian soldier today is 43. They’re actively trying to avoid conscripting young people, to avoid having an anti-baby boom after the war.

You've got this wrong. Men will excuse shitty behaviour in hot women. Women ACTIVELY PREFER shitty behaviour in men. One's a bug, the other's a feature.

That's not "nice".....that's co-dependent. As usual the bar is lowered dramatically when trying to find a female equivalent to a pervasive male problem.

Complete and utter bollocks. This is the weirdest gaslight of the dating world in the past 15 years. I've known LOADS of genuinely nice guys....the one's that are mean, transgressive, or dangerous all boast a Moscow victory day parade's worth of red flags that women simply choose to ignore because they're hot.

Honestly, I don’t think it will get better….it will get worse. We’re exiting the post-SWW economic boom, and have been for some time. The middle class, Western society is failing and within a century or two things will return to the way they’ve always been: an absolutely tiny number of people with near inexhaustible wealth, and a huge number of people living short, brutish lives of quiet desperation. The male mental health crisis is a direct reflection of this, since economic strength is how mal…

“I dress in a way thats comfortable and not expensive. ” So you dress REALLY badly. Got it. Why? There seems to be this weird belief that dressing well is “uncomfortable”, which I’ll never understand. A well-made suit is as comfortable as jeans and a t-shirt. A good quality polo is usually MORE comfortable than a crappy one, etc. Also, “not fat” is a low bar. Go work out, if just for your own sake. Your older self will thank you!

Most women’s public interactions are a lie. Women evolved to be constant politicians due to a risk of male threat and intra-sexual competition. This is the basis for “believe what they do, not what they say”. I don’t entirely blame women for this (although some cowardly hide behind it to a gross degree), but I do wish that as a society we placed a much higher value on ‘truth’.

I live in the UK. I don’t need to “find out the particulars”. UK law is meant to protect prostitutes from being further victimised by the state…it is not intended to “legalise” prostitution. We’ve always had a small industry (pictures of naked women posted in phone booths), but AT BEST you can call it “decriminalised”. Saying prostitution is “legal” here makes it seem like we’re Amsterdam, when we very much are not.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/24 07:09 AM

Not in the space of a reddit comment, no. I just think it is personally and morally degrading to everyone in question (the customer and the service provider). I don’t think it is something someone can do without seriously damaging themselves and others.

98% of women probably don’t even know what “red pill” is, let alone have any idea what it might be. Absolutely none of them are changing their behaviour over it (and rightly so….if we all changed our behaviour based on what anonymous randos said online the world would be an absolute hellscape).

Sex workers (strippers) already pay tax. Illegal prostitutes do not. (This is why overly-broad terms like “sex worker” are abysmal….easily the worst thing Gen Z and younger millennials have given us so far).

I don’t think it would change much at all. If you’re willing to buy sex (an absolutely vile proposition, in my view), then you’re not going to let legality stop you. A bit like ‘hard’ drugs, I don’t think legalisation would dramatically increase the use of prostitution. Cost, convenience, and privacy all give porn a massive edge anyway.

Like 99% of women problems this is entirely IN YOUR HEAD. Men do not like 'the chase'. We hate it. You went after Chad, and you got pumped and dumped. Instead of learning the real lesson (do not go after Chad/enter the kitchen unless you can stand the heat) you retreat back to a position that saves your ego and will be less effective. Well done.

How can young women today, the GRANDCHILDREN, of women who were actually oppressed, feel or be subject to biases that existed decades before their birth? Also, breathtakingly false? In the US and U.K. women got the vote over a century ago. Women were granted access to male-only parts of universities by the 1970s at the absolute latest. Western nations (except the US) have had female leaders going back decades. How, exactly, are women not emancipated?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/05/24 05:15 PM

Where did you grow up?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/05/24 05:11 PM

I've never understood this. It would seem SUPER awkward to go out of my way to reposition myself when walking down the street with a woman. The other day I was walking down the street with a woman (walking back home after a date). I was on the street side. We crossed the street and continued on down the road. That put me on the inside. Should I have physically crossed over her to protect her from the empty street? That sounds absolutely mad, and would've been awkward (if not outright insulting).
/r/PurplePillDebate03/05/24 02:46 PM

"Yes, it's true. Marriages 100 years ago were based on survival and resources." Kind of...but not really. Especially among the working class (i.e. the VAST majority of people) couples absolutely married for love. Haven't you ever spoken to your grand- or great-grandparents about their lives? This idea that women were chattel passed around with absolutely no agency is wildly blown out of proportion. I have a relative who'll be 88 this year. She married at the age of 17. Honestly, neither of those statements bother me, even your caricatured 'extreme' statement. Sometimes people get upset and they have a little outburst. It's life. No big deal. /r/PurplePillDebate03/05/24 12:02 PM

The OP sounds like a reasonable point until you realise that women have been emancipated in the West for AT LEAST 50 years, yet the dating market has only really become unbalanced in the last 15-ish years. Smart phones and changes in culture exist, and they matter. The fact that more people (men and women) are single today than at any other known time in recorded history is striking, and should be a genuine cause for concern.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/05/24 11:45 AM

I'd be interested to know how broad the study was (I'm going to assume they did not include African men in the study) and would REALLY like to know if they controlled for weight. The preference for East Asian women probably correlates 1-1 for a preference for slimness.

Children don’t need loving parents and caretakers (although they are obvious advantages). Many children don’t have this and manage to survive. In theory we could ALL live in tents and survive. Again, I don’t see how your comment rises to “entitlement”. If a man goes on a tirade because he’s sexually frustrated that is sort of the OPPOSITE of “expecting” or “being owed” sex….its just wanting something and not getting it. Is a starving person upset because they feel “entitled” to food, or are they merely hungry? Words have meanings and you simply refuse to accept them. First off, brevity is the soul of wit. Secondly, wtf is this rant? It’s wrong that men hit on women? Can you not distinguish between “desiring” and “expecting” something? If I go to a restaurant I EXPECT food. If they fail to deliver food after I’ve paid, then we have a problem. If I am going out with. Girl I DESIRE sex. If it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen….no big deal, because there is no unspoken agreement on the exchange.

People use dating apps because they’ve exhausted (or are at least adding to) the supply of potential partners they might meet organically. It’s not like people don’t go out anymore. Also, sex on a first date is rare in general, let alone first OLD dates. Generally you’ll go for coffee or a walk (at least in my town), have a chat like you would with any stranger and go from there. It’s no less natural than meeting someone “the old-fashioned way”.

I am totally in favour of age-appropriate sex education, but I think you would be VERY hard pressed to link a reduction in school-based safe sex education with any demonstrable rise in unwanted pregnancies. People are not as dumb as you seem to think they are, and people usually have unwanted pregnancies (carries to term) when they’re already in a horrible position….45 minutes spent with your gym teacher describing how to use a condom is unlikely to make much of a difference.

Social shaming is NOT bullying…and social pressure absolutely works. There’s a reason why if you walk the streets of Paris, or London, or Tokyo, or Barcelona, or Warsaw you see people look GOOD just going about their daily business. There is social pressure to dress appropriately when going outside. Try to do this in most North American cities. At best you’ll see adults dressed like children (men in baseball hats, graphic tees, “edgy” facial hair, and shorts). At worst you can’t tell if someone …

Clothes are borderline irrelevant for me (as a man). Body language is everything. Without it, there's no shot at all.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/24 03:56 PM

I can answer you: a woman being accountable means being respectful in how she talks about men's struggles, and perhaps cutting guys a little slack if they make minor slip ups in dating (i.e. try to not get the 'ick' for ludicrously petty reasons). It's really not much, but I think everyone (women included) would be happier if women were a bit more empathetic.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/24 02:51 PM

You can't argue against evolution and game theory. If 'men' decided to only pursue a narrow range of women then a small handful of guys who approached almost every woman would have WAY more children than anyone else....and we'd be right back to where we started within a generation or two.

This simply ain’t true. Every study of happiness and wellbeing places conservatives noticeably above progressives. Because FWB doesn’t exist outside of a small number of depraved individuals. In the vast, vast majority of cases at least one of the pair actually wants a relationship, but is too scared/immature/selfish to actually have one.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/04/24 08:55 AM

"Men piss on the toilet seat and floor. I don't." Well, maybe you should try a bit harder! ;)
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/24 09:41 PM

How old were these men? They sound like children. Anyway, you misunderstand (unsurprisingly). Yes, men want other people to know if they have a hot gf....but the opinions of other people WILL NOT impact how attractive they think their partner is. (In part because it is rare for men to have a mismatch in either direction...if I am dating someone I think is hot 99% of my male friends will agree, because our standards are highly, well....standard!).
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/24 11:17 AM

This is not even remotely how men work. Men have more or less objective preferences that are shared by more or less all other men. It's a standard scale, whereas women's scales are HIGHLY idiosyncratic, and also very much shaped by peer opinion.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/24 11:05 AM

Leagues ABSOLUTELY exist. I will never date Margot Robbie. Even if we worked together, saw each other every day, got along great, etc. Doesn't matter. She is wildly out of my league and both of us would know it. Leagues are loose, fuzzy, and somewhat permeable....but they absolutely exist.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/24 11:03 AM

I would say 2-3. Most women do not stay single for very long. Those that are long term single tend to prefer zero sex to 'some sex'....which is often why they're long-term single in the first place. The vast, vast majority of women in their 30s are either in long term relationships/marriages or are spinsters. Single 30+ women who are reasonably attractive, actively looking, and even remotely stable tend to be VERY rare, and are snatched up very quickly.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/24 11:02 AM

"The arrangement suits us both and nobody has to lie about anything." Come back in a few months and tell us how it worked out. I guess you've elected the way of pain...

You're moving the goalposts. You said "better to be single". I showed, mathematically, how this is not true. Everything else comes down to relationship particulars, which are unique in every case, making them impossible to talk about here.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/24 05:25 PM
1

Couldn’t disagree more. Occasional sex with a non-partner doesn’t offer a lifelong foundation on which to build a sustainable relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/24 03:06 PM
0

Your maths are all wrong. Even in quite a bad case (a man who makes MUCH less, and only does, say, 20% of the chores), that’s still a net win over being single. Doing 80% of housework is better than doing 100%, even accounting for the (slightly) lesser quantity of work maintaining a single vs a couple household.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/24 02:20 PM

Humans are social creatures. Your ‘future’ will ALWAYS rely on other people. It is normal and HEALTHY. Trying to be ‘independent’ is what is unhealthy. The truly independent are homeless beggars or unwashed, stinking mountain men. Being ‘independent’ is practically a death sentence for humans.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/24 09:49 AM
1

Men don’t have a static attractiveness. That’s the catch. Men have a ‘range’ depending on the woman. Most men’s range is pretty broad, as well….especially if you’re somewhat middling. I’d say I range from a 2 to a 8 depending on the girl. So, it’s best to not think about it at all.

/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/24 09:42 AM

If ‘the one’ is purely ex post facto then it is a meaningless concept….
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/24 07:55 AM

/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/24 07:54 AM

Every FWB situation I’ve ever seen is built on a lie. You can define something however you want, but in actual practice it is a relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/24 07:49 AM
2

All of that is bollocks. First off “want to fuck” is not an on/off switch. If you are attracted to someone 5% that’s not the same as someone you’re over the moon for. Level of attraction matters, and as long as level of attraction is below a certain point (for whatever reason) there’s no real barrier to friendship between otherwise potential mates.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/24 05:30 AM

/r/PurplePillDebate23/04/24 05:35 PM

….are all those women working the same hours in similarly intense jobs compared to their husband? In my experience men really don’t care about any of the things you listed. We’re quite happy at home, in our pants, playing video games. The events that women plan they basically plan for themselves.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/04/24 07:55 AM

I’ve never in my life seen a woman aggressively stay in shape AND complain that their husband didn’t keep the romance alive. Usually, the wife lets herself go (a little, or a lot), and then wonders why she doesn’t get the same sort of attention she got previously. In any case, I don’t know why anyone expects the dating stage to last forever. It’s a stage. You can’t expect couples that are married for 10-20-50 years to still be structured in the same way as a newly established young couple.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/04/24 07:52 AM

/r/PurplePillDebate23/04/24 07:44 AM

No, it’s the game where people with basic historical and geopolitical literacy use accurate terms. 40 years ago there were three ‘worlds’). The First World (Democratic, capitalist countries aligned with the US); the Second World (countries aligned with the Soviet Union); and the Third World (everyone else). The Cold War is over, hence there is no ‘third world’ anymore. Calling a country ‘third world’ is like calling Germany ‘the Holy Roman Empire’.

Women who are way too online and live in a bubble say that. If women in reality wanted to die more than risk sexual assault then the “freeze” response simply wouldn’t exist. This is only true in some cases (i.e. in some parts of the United States). Sub-minimum wages for restaurant staff is not a reality for MOST Americans (the few remaining places with mandated lower pay for servers, iirc, tend to be low-population, rural, conservative states and districts). It is not true anywhere in Europe.

“ If a woman is laser-focused on that type I’m the next level down from guys who are really big-time.” I found this simultaneously hilarious, poignant, humiliating, and invigorating. I’ve been the “next level down”, but in a very different milieu (small, cultured, and bookish). It’s really not a bad place to be, all things considered….

When I was 23 I dated a 30 year old woman. Our ages were never ‘a thing’, or even noticeable. We were just people. When I was 25 I dated a 19 year old….same story. Just people. People who rail against ‘age gaps’ have VERY strange ideas about how adults interact in real life. I have close friends that range -14 and +18 years apart from me. Occasionally you can feel the age difference in terms of reference or slang, but generally speaking we’re all just adults, and we relate to each other as such.…

I’m a historian who, among other things, teaches the rise of Liberalism in the 19th century. Liberalism was (and remains) centred on being ‘free’ from governmental interference in business (particularly in overseas trade). It was a reaction against mercantilist and protectionist regimes that predominated in the previous centuries. So, a liberal would say that, rather than have chartered companies be given sole right to trade in a given geography ANYONE who has the capital should be able to do so…

This might be accurate in “uneducated but wealthy” circles. In “educated and successful” cultures, however, it couldn’t be more wrong. Female insecurity, ironically, comes from a total failure to understand men. A girlfriend gets insecure because she thinks that men choose girlfriends like women choose boyfriends (i.e. they think men have a choice). In a weird way, female relationship insecurity is a subtle form of misandry.

This is wrong on almost every level. Until VERY recently the vast majority of men did not “choose their profession”. Exactly how much does a man need to know or care before it ceases to be “objectification”?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/04/24 05:05 AM

“Objectification” discourse is fundamentally about women not understanding (and ultimately hating) men. Men see a hot woman and want to have sex with her. It’s that simple. Men and women can be friends, but it usually works best if there is some kind of obvious barrier to being anything more. I’m a short man, and I don’t think it is an accident that all of my closest female friends tend to be VERY tall women. There is obviously no possible interest from either of us, so we can safely invest in a real friendship.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/04/24 05:12 PM

For the millionth time…what is ‘autistic’? The word is way too thin to really mean anything without SUBSTANTIAL context. I’ll say this: if your friend is ‘autistic ‘, but can hold down a professional job and make good money….then he has no excuses. If he was non-verbal living in a group home, then that would be different, obviously.

The human population is irrelevant. You don’t have access to 99.9999% of people on Earth. They live in a different country, speak a different language, move in different circles, etc.

Being in a relationship does not preclude fucking other women (cheating).
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/24 08:03 AM

This is very context specific. In my circle (high academia) the vast majority of 30+ year olds are unmarried. Settling down in your 20s is more of a rural/suburban/non-cosmopolitan activity. (Which is not to say it’s a bad thing….people in those settings often lead perfectly contended, if not very rich, lives)
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/24 07:59 AM

A lot of this is geographical. For whatever reason red pill frameworks tend to reflect major urban areas more than anything. I don’t know any rural or suburban women who are facing ‘the wall’. They all settled down young. The idea of a woman approaching 40 without having found someone to marry is overwhelmingly an educated, professional sort of phenomenon. Yet, I don’t get the impression that most red pillers are in that same demographic. It’s all a bit of a conundrum to me.

I don't know what other people do when they're not working/sleeping/eating/fucking. Personally, I have hobbies. I play music, work out, learn languages, etc. Even if you are having daily (long, drawn-out) sex that still leaves 14+ hours to fill with other activities....

If someone gives you a compliment then take it. Don't overthink it. Rumination is the cause of the vast majority of psychological distress in the developed world. Rumination is a choice. Be strong, and don't give in.

All three of my sisters married in their mid-20s. So did virtually all of their friends. In provincial/suburban parts of the developed world people still marry young (I fled...couldn't stand the inanity of it all).

This is culturally dependent. Taking care of yourself in Europe (i.e. how you dress/look) will attract similarly put-together women. It might be harder in North America or the Antipodes where the culture is SO casual that there aren’t many subtle ways to display class without seeming culturally out of step.

I’m not sure how useful population-wide metrics are. After all, the ‘median’ man doesn’t go to university at all. The vast majority of people in every society are poor and struggling, and people in that position tend to marry and reproduce young. I would imagine people on PPD tend to be much more educated than average, and also better-off than average. So, that’s the crowd we should be focusing on. At least in my circle “age-gap” relationships are the norm. Usually 4-6 years, with the man being …

100% biology, and it has everything to do with fertility. While sperm quality declines with age a man can still easily conceive until MUCH later in life than women. It’s not even close. I don’t think young women’s standards are too high. I think that for some (too many!) there is a severe mismatch between what they select for and what will ultimately make them happy. This causes all sorts of weird dynamics that wind up making dating worse for the vast majority of people (men and women).

/r/PurplePillDebate10/04/24 09:19 PM

It’s not a binary: single or “committed relationship”. The status “dating” exists for a reason. If you were dating someone even if just for a few weeks or months, then you weren’t “single” in any meaningful sense of the word.

Fewer options, not “less”. Women’s option are NOT increasing as she gets older. That’s absurd. Best case scenario is things more or less stay the same for her (and even that is very rare in my experience). Do you see the difference? For many men time improves them. This is very rarely the case for women, who usually just try to stave off decline (which hits them a full decade earlier than comparable men, give or take).

The OP might be half-right, but only due to perverse circumstances. The vast, vast majority of sexual misconduct is never reported. Very few women are willing to put themselves through the wringer only to have a marginal chance of ‘success’ (and even ‘success’ does not necessarily bring closure). For me it was all about finding my element. I am basically non-competitive in the general dating market. Within this circle I have relative prestige, relative good looks (despite being short), and am in much better physical shape than most (since very few men in these circles invest in gym time). So much of this is dependent on when and where. Mississippian cultures (think Cahokia) were highly centralised, hierarchical, relied on mass slavery, and almost certainly were horrible for women. The cultures that followed, particularly in the eastern woodlands of North America (Creek, Cherokee, Iroquoian/Haudenosaunee, etc.) tended to be matrilineal (and in some ways partially matriarchal). Businesses do not pay workers out of the goodness of their hearts. They pay what the have to to get the job done. There is no hard reason for productivity and wages to rise at the same rate (as they once did). /r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 11:14 PM

I've been told, to my face, that I was too short more times before my 25th birthday than you will EVER hear that you're "too tall". If you're 6'3" and not killing it that's your fault. You were born on third base.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 11:13 PM

What women did you post?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 11:12 PM

A poor person can become a millionaire! Exceptions prove the rule. Everything in the universe is probability, and short men are fighting on the wrong side of probability.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 11:11 PM

You’re literally allowed to like big boobs though. No one cares Bollocks. Woman in an office: "I prefer tall men" (no one cares) Man in an office: "I prefer large breasts" (STRAIGHT to HR!)
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 11:10 PM

Having emotions is not the same as letting emotions rule your entire life.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 11:08 PM

50% SAY they don't care....
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 11:06 PM

I assume a handsome but short man will draw fewer eyes than a handsome tall man, but probably more than an ugly tall man? Nope. Not in my experience (as a short, and relatively successful, man). Handsome tall > average tall > ugly tall = handsome short > average short.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 11:06 PM

Tonnes of lesbian relationships work (although lesbian community dating culture can often be fucking crazy, due to everyone swimming in the same small pool).
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 11:04 PM

No, it doesn't make sense at all. The vast majority of people living in industrialised countries will NEVER need 'protection'. The short doctor would provide vastly more real protection (money) than the tall bouncer.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 11:03 PM

This has been my experience. When I started getting really into fitness I had women straight up ask, "Oh, so like, are you compensating?" I assume for every 1 that actually said something like that at least 30 were thinking it. I just like working out...I hadn't ever considered my height in relation.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 11:02 PM

"Just date ugly women!" Wow, great advice.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 10:59 PM

I would be a little careful with a study showing that, since the designations of 'underweight' and 'healthy weight' are themselves cultural constructs. The vast majority of people I know who are of 'healthy' weight are not healthy, by any stretch of the imagination.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 10:56 PM

Nah. I've known loads of women who have been very overt about their strict height requirements (and have lived up to them). As a short guy myself you learn, from a young age, that a majority of women will never even look at you. You gotta focus on the minority that will.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 10:54 PM

It's ok, man. Next time just go up and talk to him. Maybe he's noticed you, too?

I do not live in America. Countries other than America exist. Did you know that? Why would I get my information from 'the US propaganda machine'? Ukraine has lost ground and is having manpower issues. Yes. If you think Ukraine is 'losing terribly' you cannot read a map. You do realise that wars are not sports, right? In most sports you can tell at any moment who is 'winning' and who is 'losing'. War does not work like that.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 10:49 PM

You don't need nuclear weapons to commit genocide (and I cannot think of any nation, anywhere, that committed simultaneous genocide-suicide). All nuclear powers have fought wars since developing (or receiving) their nuclear arsenal....and yet nukes haven't been used since 1945. Take a huge step back and use your head.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 10:47 PM

......America is not in an existential war. You're telling me if a massive Chinese fleet appears out of the blue (impossible, I know, but work with me) and invades California the Americans would respond with 'special operatives'? Are you that daft?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 10:46 PM
1

What do you mean by 'attack'. Words matter. If a few NATO soldiers get killed incidentally, nothing happens. If a non-Baltic NATO member is invaded? Sure, all out war. If Russia decided to tap Tallinn instead of trying to capture Kyiv....I'm not at all convinced that NATO would've done anything. It would've been a fait accompli.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 10:45 PM

I fucking hate this. Easily the greatest land army in Europe for about 450 years, they lose ONE war (by being too aggressive!) and dumb Americans who don't know anything calls them 'surrender monkeys'. Learn some GD history.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 10:43 PM
2

I don't see that happening in America where most young men have guns and the social contract has been sufficiently broken. This is ludicrous. First off "most" American men do not own guns. Secondly, you MASSIVELY downplay the reality of living in a patriotic country in an existential war. France in 1913 worried they would have huge problems with people avoiding conscription (socialists, pacifists, etc.). It didn't happen. At all. People recognised the threat, and they fulfilled their duty.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 10:41 PM

This is insane. Conscription has always, and will always, be essential in major wars.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 10:37 PM

An American civil war is even less likely than WW3.... Why waste time with ludicrous hypotheticals?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 10:31 PM

WW3 means mutually assured destruction. No, it doesn't. If this were true then EVERY war would've been genocidal, and humans would've gone extinct long, long ago.

"Have failed to defeat Russia" In 1916 the Entente had 'failed to defeat Germany'. Should they have negotiated and walked away?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 10:24 PM
1

This is crazy. 'The economy' is far too abstract to talk about in a singular way. The first thing that war (or any major dislocation) normally brings is MASSIVE inflation. In both world wars living standards PLUMMET, and in some cases stay low for a full decade after the war ended. Yes, war is good if you happen to own a munitions factory. For almost everyone else it tends to cause MAJOR issues.

How is "Putin winning" in Ukraine? No one is winning right now. It is a war balanced on a knife-edge that could, very easily, fall in either direction.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 10:06 PM
0

Not necessarily. There's no guarantee that nuclear weapons would be used....and, in fact, it's very unlikely they would. The vast majority (well over 99%) of wars fought all through human history were 'limited wars'.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 10:05 PM
1

This is insane. There is no WW3. How would that even start!? You don't have the alliance system that was fundamental to WW1 and WW2. Old-style territorial aggrandizement is widely discredited, and attempts at it (Ukraine) have been bloody, and embarrassing failures.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 10:04 PM

if he's a nice man, why would he leave his country to find a woman more vulnerable to partner with than the women back home? Are all non-American women 'vulnerable' in your mind? I live in the UK and haven't dated a British woman in well over a decade. Is that a 'power dynamic'?

'Alcoholic' is MUCH deeper, culturally, and is not offensive in anything like the same was 'gay' was used. 'Gay' as a general pejorative didn't last more than 20 years (probably more like 10-15). It was functionally slang....'alcoholic' isn't.

It really isn’t, though. A penis can get a victim pregnant…a hand cannot. A penis can transmit STIs, a hand (usually) cannot.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 05:28 AM
1

All true, but the threat of pregnancy and STIs sure creates a concrete distinction between penis and non-penis, does it not?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 05:23 AM

How would it let them off the hook? You’re making a mistake of assuming “penis” to be the standard and all others to be a reduced sentence. You could view forced penetration as the baseline and forced penetration with a penis as baseline+1, or whatever.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/24 05:22 AM
1

Language doesn’t work like that. While the culture in some (highly educated) circles almost never use the word ‘rape’ anymore, the fact is that the word still has broad purchase and is immediately understandable. It’s a heavily loaded term, but in some form or another it will be around for a long while yet.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/04/24 11:08 PM

Would you lump in penetration with the penis the same as with a finger or a foreign object? To my mind the penis should almost always receive a harsher sentence.

I’ve considered dating left wing European women, but they tend to be unhappy and have lots of mutually exclusive goals and beliefs within themselves, leading to a fairly confused and often chaotic existence (which is not something I tend to see in American ‘liberals’, who tend to be somewhat more coherent).

A lot of this is geography and culture dependent. In my circles (highly educated/cosmopolitan/international) gaps of 5-10 years are very common and as successful (or unsuccessful) as relationships closer in age. In particular, 6-7 years rarely feels like a gap at all. Especially by late 20s/30s. If you live in a smaller world (suburban/exurban/rural America) I could see even 6 years being harder to pull off. People’s worlds are a lot smaller in those types of communities, so the small distinctio…

I think you’re taking the language analysis WAY too far. Humorous online terminology does not translate into real-world behaviour (in the same way that engaging with fantasy tends not to crossover into reality, particularly for men….something women seem incapable of understanding). The M/W complex doesn’t exist. It’s more Freudian gobbledegook, we would all be so much better off if we just dropped the idea altogether.

Because cultural pressure means that some women who would otherwise be a good match will wind up being pressured away from someone they actually like because they’ve heard that “age gap” relationships are inherently bad. “What women think” has a massive impact on society, for better and for worse….so addressing and engaging with it is important.

We’ve not established just what an “age gap” is and you come in with that!? I’ve had some people say 5-6 years is an age gap (when it really isn’t, to me), other think only 10+ years (and even that doesn’t seem weird to me at all, once the younger party is in their mid-20s or older).

First off, $54 billion is nothing. You’re talking 5% of what the US annually spends on defence. In exchange for that 5% the US and Europe have dramatically improved their global standing (showing that we still have real teeth, which is best way to fend of future wars), helped defend a sovereign nation from invasion (keeping territorial aggrandisement in the black box of IR where it should stay), and have seriously degraded a main rival army. This is common advice, and it is necessary for breaking the compliment barrier (which has to be broken before the touch barrier, usually)….but has to be discarded, like most things, during escalation. If you tell a girl she’s gorgeous the first time you meet her, you’ve failed. If a girl shows up to a date all dolled up and you just compliment her earrings to avoid saying “you look amazing”….you’ve also failed (and probably outright insulted her).
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/24 08:33 AM
1

Casual touch is necessary (touching the arms/shoulder/hands) in ways that give you plausible deniability. If she doesn’t pull away then invite her on a date. If she says yes then go back to touching, particularly mid-way through the date, but SLIGHTLY escalate. If that works, you’re in.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/24 08:31 AM
2

If you have to tell a girl you like her you’ve already lost. Give up. The second tier of things (like “you’re beautiful”) are perfectly fine, necessary even, but context-dependent (like everything else). I’ve never in my life met a woman who didn’t like being told she was beautiful…this modern idea that you shouldn’t do it is dead wrong (and I have no idea where it comes from). As ever, it is about context, confidence, setting, culture, tone of voice, etc.

There are a lot of factors you’re not considering. The “wall” stereotype is very much a cosmopolitan, professional woman sort of trope. There just aren’t that many of these women around in the first place, if you look at hard numbers, and most provincial people marry younger, and consequently nearer in age, than cosmopolitan city-dwellers. If you lived in a part of the world with culture, style, and class….you would understand. Not everyone is an American living in culture-less suburban hell.

I think people take art way too seriously. The presence of plump women in ancient art (which itself was made almost exclusively for a tiny elite) does not mean that that is what the vast majority of people actively chose and prioritised.

I don’t know any man IRL that has “changed their preferences to thick girls”. I think it is 100% an online thing….

People get frustrated and have moments of weakness. Those moments, especially if they are ultimately low stakes, should not define a person. If you think a person is best summed up by their worst moments, rather than their best (or even their routine)….I think that’s a horribly sad way to move through life.

Nonsense. There’s no such thing as a ‘true self’, and the internet is often just barely distinguished from thoughts inside one’s own head. We have all sorts of strange thoughts in our head, none of which are terribly serious. Have you ever stood by a train platform and imagine throwing yourself under the train? Almost every one has, and it’s not because they actually want to do it. It’s not some manifestation of their “true self”….its just a weird, passing whim. What makes it through all your fi…

I’m a straight man. I’ve always had lots of female friends (even as a child). I have a weird built-in advantage though: I’m short. I have absolutely no desire to be with a woman who is noticeably taller than me, and she has absolutely no desire to be with me either! While this has downsides (massively shrinks my dating pool), the upside is that I’ve been able to enjoy many (true) friendships with women.

Are we not overstating this in the first place? I have never, in my life, had a girl go on a date with me “just for a free meal”. I’ve never had someone date me (or try to date me) just for my money. (Maybe I just don’t have enough to encounter this?) Admittedly, I’m not in America, but I do wonder if this problem is more of a meme than a reality.

I have NEVER known an old married couple (i.e. past retirement) to be 'flirty'. Caring? Attentive? Sure! But 'flirty'? No....

You really want to be 'competing' in your 60s, 70s, and 80s? I sure as hell don't. Quiet contentedness sounds VASTLY preferable.

“Pick me” is just uncool, unfunny, bitter women trying to use social shaming to drag down otherwise amazing women. That’s it. “Oh, she likes beer, sports, and sex!? Such a pick me!” It’s laughable, and I can’t believe anyone fell for it. The world needs more “pick me” girls!

“A lot of men want to pegged”? Um, research on that? My guess is that it is a TINY number of largely porn-brained weirdos that want to be pegged. Well below 1% for heterosexual males. This idea that everyone (or almost everyone) is really kinky when they’re behind closed doors is pure cope (or perhaps fantasy?). Kink is kinky exactly because it is rare!

Our experiences must be VERY different. I noticed a dramatic shift in OLD when Tinder came along. The simple dynamic of gatekeeping communication behind mutual selection made Tinder MUCH more effective than any of the older OLD services (I tried both in their prime). Personally, I did way better in OLD than IRL. I tended to operate in very male-dominated spaces (in both work and school), so simple exposure to women was always a problem. OLD basically fixed that for me (back when I was still usin…

I’ll always hate “treated them like a roommate”….what does that even mean? Have you ever seen an old married couple!? They aren’t in list anymore, they act more like roommates. It’s a life goal, not something to break up over.

Rare, yes.....but in the real world examples that I know of the couples are actually very natural. No more 'transactional' than any other couple I know.

This is not my experience at all. I've had women become more, and less, in love with me over time...it depends on the dynamics of the given relationship. I have never had, and will never have, 'love at first sight' because it's nonsense. It doesn't exist. This is teenager-like delusion.

Men are not like women. Most of us can be happy with most women. ‘Love’ forms when we get used to the eccentricities of one particular woman and develop a ‘need’ for them. It’s several phases into a relationship, rather than towards the beginning. The ‘vibe’ thing is very female. As a man I’ve dated a really wide range of women….any number of whom would’ve been perfectly fine, long-term matches. Any ‘vibe’ we felt early on, I usually had to create. The vibe we felt later on I usually had to cult…

Hell yes. I gather this is more an American thing (you guys have crazy amounts of wealth lying around), but if I somehow made enough money to fully support a partner, I would be furious if I also had to do the same amount of chores I currently do.

Going fat was his choice, though, and bald really isn’t a problem for most women.

WTF are you on about? Men (people, really) like partners that share their interests. This is hardly a revelation, and certainly not the gross tale of insecure domination you’ve concocted in your head….

You keep asserting “women’s standards have not changed” without any real evidence. People 50 years ago still mated within a hierarchy, but the communities tended to be relatively small….even if you were living in New York or London…and this has an effect of equalising out the distribution of mates (since there’s less likely to be a huge difference between a 10 and a 5), making it vastly easier for ‘average’ mates to find a partner, and very difficult for one high value man to date multiple women…
/r/PurplePillDebate11/03/24 09:19 AM

Yes, “most”. 40-50 year olds are definitely in the hunt, but there’s far fewer of them (most are married by then), and of those few still looking even fewer still are in good shape, etc. However, if you are in your 40s, interesting, successful, and in good shape dating a woman in her late 20s/early 30s is not uncommon (at least in my experience).

Where did I ever suggest that women (or anyone) should be 'forced' to marry anyone else? In monogamous societies the number of leftover men tends to be small (and many of them wind up dying prematurely anyway, so the 'problem' is largely 'solved' without any real coercion needing, except for some respect for monogamous relationships...call that 'marriage' or whatever else you want). 'Twisted' is not exactly a scientific metric, btw. I have no way of assessing that whatsoever.

I wouldn’t call it “collapse”. I’m not talking about post-apocalyptic North America….we don’t have to fall that far to see really severe increases in violence. You’re right, obviously, that violence (particularly organised violence) is highly multi-causal. No one would reasonably suggest otherwise.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/03/24 08:54 PM

Are you sure about that? Islamic polygyny is one of the most entrenched polygynous systems in the world….and the Islamic world has A LOT of spare, and very angry, young men to sacrifice to civil wars (primarily) all across the heart for the Muslim world from West Africa to Central Asia. (Obviously I am not even remotely suggesting this is monocausal….that would be ludicrous….but it is absolutely a factor.)

Monogamous societies are VERY rare in history (as are, interestingly enough, societies with anything resembling a ‘middle class’). We are in the middle of a reversion to the mean. Isn’t it exciting?

This is a highly presentist view of humanity. For the vast majority of human history we had weak states (sometimes bordering on non-existent), and even weaker judicial systems. Yes, modern bureaucratic states are able to corral their excess male population through effective coercion (China is probably the best example), but these systems do not have limitless power. I know we all want to think that times of lawless brigandage will never return in what are today industrialised countries, but hist…

Have you ever studied history? Polygynous societies everywhere have had this problem of leftover men. I’d do better pointing out the exceptions rather than trying to provide “proof”. Feel free to google “polygyny and violence” or read up on any polygynous raiding culture (the Tuareg, Mongols, etc.).

He’s actually right. Societies with large numbers of single men tend to be much more violent and much less stable than more monogamous societies. ….and those spare men literally do turn to brigandage in many cases.

This is dead wrong. Wanting a partner is as natural as natural can be. It’s not “entitled” any more than wanting food, shelter, and clothing is “entitled”.

Your third paragraph is bang on. A friend of mine who’s been ling term single (bar a few brief situationships) was told by her Eastern European mother: “Just make sure he’s nice, hard-working, and thinks of the future. Everything else will work out.” My friend scoffed at this simple wisdom and her situation has not improved. Now, was the mom’s recommendation anodyne and overly simplistic ? Sure! But there is also a lot of truth to it…. All of us could be happy with a pretty broad range of partne…

I have to disagree with “women’s standards haven’t changed much.” I know far too many beautiful women in their 30s who’ve been single (and some of them more or less dateless) for YEARS. These are all professional women living in major urban centres that I’ve met one way or another. They’re friends of mine. I want them to be happy and to find someone. Every time there seems like a potential match I encourage them to give the guy a chance and see where it goes….every single time they start produci…

“The wall” isn’t about a woman’s ability to attract “a” man…it’s about her ability to attract “THE” man. (I mean, it is primarily about fertility, but even if we use a broader definition it is still at least a partially valid concept)

Coming up with a priori tests for a potential mate is a strategy doomed to fail. Why not just treat men like human beings?

This is a wise woman, right here. Most men want to be providers. The last thing a provider wants is to be provided for.

Bollocks. No one, anywhere, is giving a woman shit for wanting a man slightly taller (and definitely not for wanting a man who is 5’6”). Either you’re not being honest with yourself (and actually have been rejecting guys who are 5’6”, 5’8”, etc merely for their height)….or you’re just trying to score pity points.
