Nonsense. Yes of course the husbands in these cases assume that the wives still have their best interests at heart. But they have shown, usually for years, that they also have their own best interests at heart. They aren't owed a warning if the woman decides to survive.

Here's the other hard thing. Not always, but OFTEN - USUALLY even, before the wife stops talking, she talked a lot. She asked for support, for you to share the physical and mental load, for time and bandwidth to be a whole human instead of wife/mother/bangmaid. When she stops talking, you already failed. This is why an increasing number of women are skipping that part entirely. No husband & no kids. Peace.

Most of this is just terrible advice. The fact that you say no one cares that you're going through a divorce indicates that people are returning the energy you've shown them when they've been in crisis. It's true that people are busy with their lives but come on. If they care about you, they're there for you. Not every minute, but enough to show you they're there.
