A lot of the responses focus on why that likely isn't a representative number, but even if it were, so what? That's no reason to ignore due process and evidence standards.

The idea that men can't have close relationships and deep connections with each other is the invention of a culture that is terrified of anything "gay," and it's deeply sad that men nowadays are brainwashed by this to the point of being concerned by situations like yours. That said -- and I'm only saying this because you mentioned sexuality, not because I'm sexualizing your situation -- it's also perfectly normal and okay to not be 100% heterosexual. I felt the need to mention this because I've …

Calling for the attorney general to update guidance on the handling of digital material, she said only “relevant, reasonable and proportionate” information should be disclosed. In a world where the individuals and services responsible could be relied upon to fairly judge what is relevant, reasonable, and proportionate, I would agree. In this world, however, it is clear from cases such as Liam Allan's that such fair judgment being reliable is still a ways off, in which case it is obviously better…

I am cynical to the bone, and even I am dumbfounded by this.

On further reflection, I see the point. Thanks!

Still not sure how, though. I'm used to antifeminism posts, but I don't see what this story has to do with that either.

What in the world has this got to do with men's rights? Maybe I'm missing something obvious here.

Okay, so I did not misunderstand you. You think it's "fucked up" to cross the boundary of a non-consensual kiss in order to save someone's life? Why is that any different than the boundary of a non-consensual tracheotomy, or non-consensual CPR, or any similar invasion on someone's person undertaken in order to save them, which is generally considered perfectly acceptable?

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but you seem to be implying that a non-consensual kiss to wake someone up from eternal slumber was considered appropriate at the time, and that we shouldn't censor that part of our past, but that such a thing would be considered inappropriate or immoral today? Maybe I'm misinterpreting what you mean by "it does have to be consensual"; it seems odd to me that a non-consensual kiss should be considered too high a price to pay morally for, you know, not dying.

As much as it is time for any group that perceives itself as oppressed in some way to put on a show to raise awareness of said oppression in the general population, I suppose. I'd say not to expect any sympathy, but neither did the first gay pride participants (I think), and look where it's gotten their cause.

MGM gets my blood boiling, if only because of the disconnect between how clearly morally repugnant it is and how it's perceived by the general population.

Genuinely surprised by the number of highly rated men's rights-related comments. This made my day a little.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
