How do you handle being undermined while trying to discipline children? I feel like I'm stuck between two shit tests and the only way to pass one is to fail the other.Yeah, I think I'm leaning towards this one as well. Like if she doesn't back off immediately there are only three viable options: 1) Move her away from him. 2) Move him away from her. 3) Walk away from both of them. 3 still feels too much like a cop out to me, and 1 has too much potential to backfire and/or spiral out of control. 2 only requires physicality with him, doesn't involve paying attention to her when she's acting out, doesn't escalate the situation and requires much more effort on her… | /r/askMRP | 27/03/17 03:03 AM
How do you handle being undermined while trying to discipline children? I feel like I'm stuck between two shit tests and the only way to pass one is to fail the other.I'm buying a house and have another kid, stress in the situation is a given, the source of it isn't relevant. Asking r/parenting for strategic advice about how to stop being undermined in general is very different than asking r/MRP tactical advice about how to react in the moment of being undermined. Two completely different questions. It's rare now but it still happens. I work with computers for a living, I never game while kids are awake, thus completely irrelevant. Never told her about MRP, s… | /r/askMRP | 25/03/17 01:47 PM
How do you handle being undermined while trying to discipline children? I feel like I'm stuck between two shit tests and the only way to pass one is to fail the other.Yeah, that's def her. We're like polar opposites on that scale. Where is that from? Before the crack of dawn on a workday I find it difficult to be amused about any of it though, but I guess the same goes for her holding it together as well. I swear 90%+ of our arguments in the past 15 years started before 8AM. | /r/askMRP | 25/03/17 12:26 AM
How do you handle being undermined while trying to discipline children? I feel like I'm stuck between two shit tests and the only way to pass one is to fail the other. No, I was actually just trying to get some perspective on a very specific situation that has more than one obvious answer, and as expected there's not really a clear consensus on it. Lots of good advice though. If all you've ever seen associated with my name is top shelf drama then it makes sense that you'd fill in the blanks with more of the same. Didn't think anyone would remember me TBH so I didn't bother with a throwaway. For obvious reasons I can't really do the field report thing. But as y… | /r/askMRP | 24/03/17 11:50 PM
| -1 | How do you handle being undermined while trying to discipline children? I feel like I'm stuck between two shit tests and the only way to pass one is to fail the other.I dunno, I didn't even talk to her about it. I assume she saw how disturbingly quickly you searched through both our post histories and/or remembered far too much information about our personal lives off the top of your head despite not having posted here for like a year, and she got creeped out too? Maybe you are genuinely trying to help but it's a bit too stalker-y for my comfort. Thanks but no thanks. | /r/askMRP | 24/03/17 10:49 PM |

How do you handle being undermined while trying to discipline children? I feel like I'm stuck between two shit tests and the only way to pass one is to fail the other. He has no input from my wife, he did the same thing with her post history, going on even less. It's all based on assumptions piled on assumptions piled on assumptions. It's SO CREEPY, seriously. It's enough raw material to run with to paint a magnificent tale of woe...but it's still fiction and I'm not interested. | /r/askMRP | 24/03/17 08:01 PM
How do you handle being undermined while trying to discipline children? I feel like I'm stuck between two shit tests and the only way to pass one is to fail the other. What's there to address? The story you just told is a fiction you weaved together from a few tiny shreds of knowledge about me gathered from a bunch of Reddit posts. TBH the whole digging through someone's post history to psychoanalyze them is super creepy anyway. | /r/askMRP | 24/03/17 07:48 PM
How do you handle being undermined while trying to discipline children? I feel like I'm stuck between two shit tests and the only way to pass one is to fail the other. The toddler shit test comes from a far more innocent place, that's for sure. It's not that I expect resistance on everything, but you and I both know it's impossible to avoid and is often wrapped up in total nonsense (ex. the blue cup vs the green cup.) I try my best to acknowledge as little of it as possible. I've done plenty of #2, it generally hasn't been a problem for months until very recently because there's lots of other stress piled on - buying a house, moving, potty training, an 18 mont… | /r/askMRP | 24/03/17 07:40 PM
How do you handle being undermined while trying to discipline children? I feel like I'm stuck between two shit tests and the only way to pass one is to fail the other.Good point. I guess what you're saying is if I'm not bothered by letting the kid scream in time out, why get bothered by letting both of them scream when a little chaos isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things? | /r/askMRP | 24/03/17 06:32 PM
How do you handle being undermined while trying to discipline children? I feel like I'm stuck between two shit tests and the only way to pass one is to fail the other. With respect...can any actual parents vouch for the "walk away and let chaos reign" approach? It'd be the easy right call if it were just between me and her, but it feels like a cop out and a failure of leadership from a broader POV. Like what kind of captain would say "fuck it, you drive the ship, I'm going to my quarters" in the middle of a storm? | /r/askMRP | 24/03/17 06:12 PM
How do you handle being undermined while trying to discipline children? I feel like I'm stuck between two shit tests and the only way to pass one is to fail the other.Ideally I'd want her to leave the room. Problem is that she doesn't always, so what then? Like the other day he did something shitty, got put in time out, and kept trying to get up and run out of the spot. She's hovering over telling me how that doesn't work - because it doesn't work for her, because she's not consistent enough with it. So I know he's only screaming cause she's hovering. It's hardly the first time she undermined me so I tried establishing a code word to like snap her out of her … | /r/askMRP | 24/03/17 04:23 PM
How do you handle being undermined while trying to discipline children? I feel like I'm stuck between two shit tests and the only way to pass one is to fail the other.Physically hitting your wife when she talks back to you isn't an acceptable response to a shit test, so why should I hold to a different standard with the kids? I feel like spanking is like cheating and ultimately undermines my authority. I'd prefer not to lead by fear. | /r/askMRP | 24/03/17 04:13 PM
How do you handle being undermined while trying to discipline children? I feel like I'm stuck between two shit tests and the only way to pass one is to fail the other. The hard part about this is I agree with you 100% and I've done all of the above. Wifey understands in principle when logic prevails, but she's simply not as good as holding the line as me. I keep telling her to stop indulging him when he's acting like this, but it's just not natural for her. Whenever there's some other pressure like needing to get out of the door and to work on time, if he pushes her she'll crack, because she can't stand to let him scream in time out when the clock is ticking. … | /r/askMRP | 24/03/17 04:09 PM
How do you handle being undermined while trying to discipline children? I feel like I'm stuck between two shit tests and the only way to pass one is to fail the other.I can handle the toddler on my own just fine. When he's screaming in her presence she gets emotional - so her lizard brain takes over and all of that planning is out the door. Sometimes shit goes down and you have to handle it, I'm trying to figure out the best thing to do in the moment. | /r/askMRP | 24/03/17 03:49 PM
Stronglifts Update - 5 weeks inI started with StrongLifts but I moved back to a moderate weight routine (~100lb free weights with higher reps, ~150lb weights on machines) once the weights started getting really heavy. I'm sure it was due to poor form but I also started to feel pains during certain lifts. I powered through it but it only got worse until one bad squat took me out of commission for over a week. SL def works but the risk and severity of injury is so much higher as the weight increases, I'm just not sure it's wort… | /r/askMRP | 06/01/17 09:26 PM
[FR] – Using MRP and RPW in a marriageTBH I think ADHD is very poorly understood. It's not a disorder. The ADHD brain functions just fine, it's just not very well suited to a lot of things about the modern world. It's not an attention deficit, it's a pathological intolerance to boredom. If something is interesting to me I can get sucked in for hours. If something isn't, my brain goes on an adventure to somewhere else whether I like it or not. It's not that I've run out of attention, it's that I have an excess of curiosity/mental ene… | /r/MarriedRedPill | 09/08/16 02:06 PM

[FR] – Using MRP and RPW in a marriageI can only speak for myself, but introducing RPW to my wife was very helpful. I'm sure my situation is not the typical MRP, since I didn't really need to "fake it until I made it." While the re-emergence of alpha behavior and boundaries was sudden and confusing to her, it wasn't out of character. And I was working with a SMV surplus, not deficit. But to me, MRP basically boils down to "how to become a man worth fighting for." And likewise RPW is "how to become a woman worth fighting for." Like t… | /r/MarriedRedPill | 08/08/16 05:21 PM
