Everyone who works sells their body. The rest is just minor and arbitrary distinctions

Why is his money not him but other aspects are? Feels like an arbitrary distinction.

Everyone is thinking about extremes. Either a super hot guy with no money and status, or some crusty rich old guy. For the 99% of men who are in between those extremes, your money and status are just two of your characteristics along with 100s of others. They are not somehow separate to your being or essence, as much as your height or heir color or sense of humor are. There is a big difference between a woman being a gold digger and deliberately targeting you because of your money, and a woman b…

I'm a happily married gainfully employed father of 3. I was a serial monogamist before that with stints of man whoring in between. Never really had any issues with women. I don't know why I find this shit so entertaining to think and talk about but here I am. I have an academic background in behavioral economics and love drawing parallels. That's likely it.

Why can't you? Everything can be modeled financially, even if you find it distasteful. Or are you one of those "can't put a pricetag on a human life" idealists

I'm a predator because I'm happy to offer to pay on a date? Where are you getting some sort of transaction from? Talk about an aggressive way to engage with someone.

While it's not useful to go down a who has it worse contest, those are somewhat arbitrary framings. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, childbirth Entirely optional, and can just as easily be thought of as a privilege. Maybe men should be compensated because we cannot have these experiences. Orgasm gap Multiple and stronger orgasms more than compensate for it to be harder to achieve one. Healthcare costs Maybe in America. Civilized counties have socialized healthcare Wage gap. Has been debunked time and t…

What part of equal rights = pay own bills doesn't sit right with you? I struggle to see how you can possibly expect equal rights without equal obligations
/r/PurplePillDebate29/06/26 03:08 AM

Individuals as people works when you're talking about specific people. But when were talking about society we should think of people as abstract entities. The point isn't that anyone is suggesting that women's rights to consent should be taken away. The point is to look at structural factor and incentives that would encourage the average woman to be interested in the average man.

In what way is it cruel? If you drink and drive and cause an accident it's your fault. If you drink and hook up with a guy and in the morning realize he's disgusting and you feel embarrassed, it's your fault. Only the latter example isn't the end of the world. No one is hurt, you have a laugh about it with a friend and move on
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 02:15 AM

You don't see women being vulgar? That's a laugh
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/26 01:49 AM

There is a very fine line between someone being so drunk as to not be able to consent, and being drunk enough to make bad decisions. The latter is completely ok in my book. Anyone who makes the conscious choice to drink signs up for the consequences of any bad decisions made

You're delusional. The person who wants commitment may want someone who they see as a high quality partner who has never had eyes for anyone other than them. When that becomes unrealistic, the only two choices are a lower quality partner who has only eyes for them, or a higher quality partner ready to settle down. Or a guess holding out and waiting for a unicorn. But that has predictable results

Only if you phrase it as "things will vaguely work out in the future" and hope for the best and keep trying and hoping. If you have a deliberate strategy to do one thing until a certain age and then change approaches and successfully execute on that strategy that's the very definition of success. I.e. sleep around but then lock down someone who hasn't done the same thing. Or maybe sleep with lots of people with characteristic X cus they're hotter but marry someone with characteristic Y because t…
/r/PurplePillDebate09/06/26 09:37 AM

That entirely depends on someone's own metric of success. If someone wants to sleep around as much as possible and then settle down at 30, a bloke like that may be very successful.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/06/26 08:55 AM

I don't really want to fuck one of these things. But would be cool if it could clean the house and look nice doing it

When described like that, you're absolutely correct. People shouldn't over specialize to that extent and everyone should be able to do activities of daily living, whether it's changing a nappy or a tire. But gender roles are extremely useful when it comes to the interpersonal, especially courting/dating. Gives a framework of what to expect and how to behave.

Gay people are advantageous to the group in small numbers. They serve a similar role to grandmothers. Infertile people have the same programming as everyone else. From a drives and motivations perspective they don't really know they are infertile

I wouldn't promote it to teenagers the same I wouldn't promote trying to be a DJ, or a supermarket worker, or a unskilled laborer. Because it's not a very good job. But it still is a job.

It depends on how you look at it. Though a humanist lens, Men have just as much inherently value as human beings. But through a more biological lens that's just biological reality. If you take any group of humans and kill most of the males, they will bounce back. Kill most of the fertile age females, and it's game over for that group

I think I do. From the perspective of a rational woman, getting a date is trivial, getting a data with someone who doesn't scare you or repulse you is harder.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/26 08:38 AM

That's a descriptive not a prescriptive statement. What I'm trying to say is guys looksmax because it works
/r/PurplePillDebate21/03/26 01:19 AM

/r/PurplePillDebate21/03/26 01:10 AM

Agree with red pill Attraction cannot be negotiated Only ~5% of men are considered physically attractive by women Being 'nice' is not in itself attractive Woman are primarily lead by their emotions and justify it rationally after the fact (important caveat: so are men) Women are generally socialized to be more consensus seeking Disagree with red pill AWALT Nice guys finish last (being nice is great, but you also have to be attractice) Women are attracted to dark triad/assholes (this is just inco…

For? It's a pretty great point.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/03/26 12:58 AM

I guess there's a spectrum. From brushing your teeth and putting away the Cheeto stained shirt on one extreme, to leg lengthening surgery on the other
/r/PurplePillDebate21/03/26 12:49 AM

I guess it would take women to stop sleeping with the looksmaxxed guys. In the same way as men generally find thinner women more attractive. So it's not going to happen.

What I'm trying to get at is that women who were more 'ok' (for lack of a better term), with being taken from one partner to another by force out reproduced women who were more 'loyal'. As a result, women as a group are more ok with switching partners to whoever is most powerful. But for that to be true, a massive majority of women would have to be taken by force at some stage, which I don't think is likely. I have zero evidence of course, which is the big flaw in most evolutionary biology theor…
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/26 09:37 AM
-3

That's fair. I don't know what sort of proportion of women throughout evolutionary history were stolen/conquered as in the original group of males they were with were killed and they were taken into a new group by force. I wonder if that happened often enough that women who had a temperament that tolerated this arrangement (as opposed to fighting and being killed) were selected for by evolution. While that wouldn't fit the definition of hypergamy as you say, it would lead to the same effect.

Not from a humanist perspective. But from a reproductive perspective objectively yes.

If you genuinely were friends and feelings genuinely developed that's fine. If one party secretly had feelings the whole time, that's cowardly and scummy behavior. Women are right to be disgusted by it. Same applies other way around.

I don't know if I would necessarily believe her. Not that she's lying, I just think it's very difficult for humans to have sex without making an emotional connection as that's what we're wired for. But generally, I think there's a gender difference in that women need at least a start of an emotional connection first. The ideal would be if she went to a male sex worker. I would be 100 fine with that. Because that way it's guaranteed she's not choosing any particular guy. Just turns up and picks f…
/r/PurplePillDebate01/01/26 10:31 PM

I feel the exact same way. Women are always saying that they need to feel some connection or attraction beyond physical to hook up with a man, so it feels more like a personal betrayal. Whereas most men myself included are perfectly capable of having sex with women they feel absolutely nothing for or even don't like beyond physical attraction.

It's basically a mixture of the just world fallacy and growing up playing video games thinking maxing one stat leaves less points for others.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/10/25 09:27 PM

You're misunderstanding how evolution works. As long as these women get pregnant and their children reach maturity, the behavior is adaptive.

You're overthinking it. I'm in a happy relationship and simply find this shit entertaining. I also studied sociology and to be these kinds of debates are an extension of that. Also have tons of downtime in my job to argue with strangers online.

You have a good given right to have whatever preferences you want, and no one can do a damn thing about it. You don't get to decide how others feel about your preferences full stop
/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/25 04:00 AM

Your back-flip analogy isn't a good fit. You're implying that the only thing standing between most men and their success is their flirting skills. I strongly dispute that. You can't out flirt (by that I mean completely negate) bad physical characteristics, or low status, or personality flaws. No amount of confidence makes a bloke's ugly face non ugly.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/08/25 02:42 AM

Sure. But lots of other activities are also considered intimate, personal and/or dangerous and people do them for paid employment. What makes sex fundamentally different? Is it an arbitrary line? Lots of people think sex is one of the more intimate activities. But that view is not universal. And there are far more dangerous professions.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/25 06:18 AM
1

No. I have nothing against sex workers or sex work. So what is that special fundamental attribute?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/25 06:10 AM
1

And what is it about genitals and intercourse that changes the relationship between labor and exploitation compared to other types of work that doesn't involve genitals. Is there some special thing about sex that makes it fundamentally different to all other human activities, which are commodified?

You've done it again. Why is it different in the context of this discussion. What is the critical characteristic?

Calm down then read what I wrote more slowly. I didn't say cooking with my children, I said cooking for my employer.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/07/25 07:46 AM

Sex work is intimate What's the definition of intimate that you're using? I find cooking for my children an extremely intimate act and a very pure expression of love. Does that mean I'm being exploited if I'm forced to work as a line cook to survive?

What's the logic behind that given OPs position? OP claims people want to date 22 year olds because they're attractive. A straight man doesn't care how attractive other men he hangs out with are.

You're so confidently incorrect. The metaphor is primarily about assortative mating. It maybe implies hypergamy and branch swinging type stuff, but only incidentally.

I.e. The economic concept of market arbitrage?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/05/25 11:48 AM
2

I can sort of understand why people find this metaphor unpalatable. But it's meant to be descriptive not prescriptive. It plays out among populations and not individuals. There's still wiggle room for personal preference and subjective feelings of love and all that good stuff.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/05/25 11:47 AM
1

That most people, both consciously and subconsciously care about the propagation of their genes. We have complex brains so we can override our programming to a large extent. However even if we choose not to have children, other parts of our brain, like those that control attraction behave as if we did. In humans, any woman barring fertility issues can get pregnant easily, the difficulty is finding a quality mate. Part of that is so your child survives till adolescence. But that's only half the b…

Sure, that's a perfectly valid perspective. But so is mine.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/05/25 10:51 AM

It's still a market, just a barter market. The labor market also fits really well. There is technically a seller and a buyer, but really its a mutually beneficial relationship.

Yes, but their children are less likely to reproduce so biologically speaking they lose.

Is giving party drugs to an 18 year old so they can have a good time at a rave good or bad? Afterall you aren't "hurting" anyone, they asked for those drugs, your helping them! Why so black and white? Pushing ice on someone to exploit them or get them addicted is clearly bad. Giving someone safe MDMA so they have fun in moderation is good.

Equal pay is already a thing. Equal earnings isn't.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/25 10:30 PM
5

Even if surveys say that, look at what people do not what they say. Who are the men that do best with women? Celebrities, athletes, musicians, the super rich. Basically high status. Would be a hell of a coincidence if those with the highest status were also the kindest.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/03/25 08:56 PM
2

Exactly. Just don't tell them. Just like women don't have to tell you exactly how many people or exactly who they slept with. People have a right to secrets and a past, especially if not illegal or immoral
/r/PurplePillDebate03/03/25 09:34 PM
3

But I don't follow your argument. Someone seeing a sex worker, even somewhere where it is illegal, does not meet the definition of rape. No matter if the sex worker has no other options, doesn't want to do the job etc etc. It's only rape if the worker does not give or revokes consent. And that's not what we're discussing in this thread.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/02/25 09:19 PM
2

Sure. But is a sex worker having sex they don't want, or have they agreed to do it (for money). How's that different from any other job someone doesn't want to do. Either it's not rape, or it is rape but every other job is literally slavery.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/02/25 09:10 PM
2

Of course it is. But that's not what the discussion point is about. The discussion is how is someone doing a shift as a sex worker (and voluntarily getting to the end) different form someone doing a shift at a supermarket. Assuming either one can walk out at any second.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/02/25 09:09 PM
4

I don't understand. A sex worker can still revoke consent.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/02/25 09:05 PM

What kind of derro people are you people hanging out with? I've never been asked for favors or especially handouts by any of my friends, male or female. (Beyond simple stuff like lifting a couch or borrowing a tool)

Its somewhat of an academic term coined by Robert Henderson. A luxury belief is something that imparts status or positive virtue on the person making a claim, and may be indeed accurate for a person in a position of privilege. But those same beliefs cause harm for less privileged/poorer people. Another way of looking at it is high status beliefs that are somewhat hypocritical. A good example may be something like "study what interests you" or "follow your dreams". Great for a investment banker's…

I think victim blaming is a really bad term because it's too emotionally loaded. A better term would be something like 'victim educating'. e.g. "you're not morally/legally responsible to any extent for what happened to you, but pragmatically here are some steps you can take to lessen the chance of it happening in future"
/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/24 10:51 PM

I think based on your observations, it would be perfectly ok to say "in this area, most thieves are black" and not at all racist. It's not a stereotype at that stage, it's statistics. As long as you don't reverse it and say "most black people are thieves". That would not only be racist, but also logically incorrect.

Based on this response, I still suspect you don't really understand the concept of an analogy. No-one saying this suggest that women are objects. The point of the analogy is to point out another context in which everyone agrees something (theft) shouldn't happen, but does. And while the person comitting the bad act is 100% responsible for it, there are thigns a victim can do which don't eliminate the chance of it happening, but reduce it. In both cases the victim should not have to take these pr…
