Also in most western countries healthy weight people are a minority, shrinking year by year. Technically true. There is a huuuge difference though between the USA (maybe plus parts of UK) and "most western countries". The threshold for being seen as "fat" is much lower in Europe. Also, euphemisms (e.g. "thicc") aren't a thing in Europe. It's just called "fat".

Indeed. And those two locations are even just within the USA. The difference is even far bigger when comparing with, say, Europe (except UK), where the threshold for someone to be seen as "Fat" is waaaay lower and euphemisms for Fat (e.g. "thicc") are not a thing.

yeah well, I disagree. I don't even see Twilight as even really matching that, let alone coming close to heavily focusing on that… sorry to have to say it, but in fact to me that seems like a projection of your niche goggles. As for the game of thrones analogy: the point was precisely that while there might be a niche of people obssessing over incest stories and who thus would have a tendency to project their niche goggles onto Game of Thrones and to want to see Game of thrones as "heavily focus…

Of course girls like it… mainstream D/s romance/smut with a powerful dominant male is among the categories most liked by girls, as sales have shown consistently for quite a while. As to "featuring" the niche trope, well for one thing, not having your niche goggles on, i don't really see Twilight as even matching it… and also, even if it did (or for whatever degree that one could even see it as doing so): Every story "features" tons of totally tertiary side-tropes. The point was that it's not wha…

it's kinda odd that you would project your niche onto Twilight to the point of seeing the latter as revolving around the trope of your niche (but when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail I guess). That's just a projection… … especially given how the analysis of the success of twilight is pretty much across the most varying points of view (from mainstream to psychoanalysis to kink to feminism) attributed to being basically a "50 shades" for teenagers and catering to the biggest…

I can count the number of times I've gotten reqs for what you say on one hand. The opposite... Endless times. Nice anecdotic story… but it actually makes OPs point: it's well known that commissions and requests thrive precisely in those small unrepresentative niches that are not covered by the large mainstream. The mainstream for-ladies smut (which incidentally corresponds much more to what OP describes than what you describe) has a readership that (no offense, and without any judgement about th…

Guys who like sex like sluts Nah. Sluts (of both genders) like sluts. Non-slut guys who like sex don't want sluts (that is: not for sex, romance or partnership or anything else where "slut" or not would be of relevance). Your mistake is to absurdly equate "liking sex" with "slut" and "not slut" with "repressed sexuality". The fact is: promiscuity is not synonymous to "liking sex". Those are totally separate things. There are sluts who like sex, sluts who don't like sex (but still engage in promi…

Without even subscribing to his value system that counts abortions as killing (and without opposing the "her body, her choice" principle either - dunno how he sees it and don't want to assume, but pro-lifers tend to oppose it), I'd nevertheless see the boyfriends/husbands angle is a bad argument as precisely those have absolutely no say in the question. You have to choose in order to be logically consistent: either you want the woman to be able to unilaterally decide about abortion or not and to…

I’m not reading a wall of text What a lousy excuse for what amount to admitting you have no valid counter-arguments to a small set of briefly detailed arguments. You'd have to have the attention span of a gold fish to see that few lines as a "wall of text". Why... would a man need to make a choice about abortion? Nobody argued for the man to have any right of choice about that. But given that this is HER DECISION alone, either decision outcome of a pregnancy (be it childbirth or abortion) is literally solely dependent on HER unilateral CHOICE. AND she has the additional choice of giving the child for adoption. And the problem is that while that choice is unilateral, the consequences of that choice is not, because currently the question of parental …

if the medical procedure really was the problem (besides it being odd to argue for that to be more of a problem than going through with pregnancy and childbirth and you never see a woman choosing the latter over the former because of "muh medical procedure"), she'd still have the possibility to give the child to adoption. Either way, her choice to have a child.

Why do you suppose women are more willing to take responsibility for those “18 years for an ONS” than men are? Whether or not they ARE more willing is up to them, but they should be in those cases where they chose, against what he wants (which really doesn't matter), to go through with childbirth and keep the child… …given that they unilaterally hold the power, in the case of a pregnancy, to choose between childbirth and abortion… AND if they choose the former have the additional choice between …

Also: Women have the power/right to unilaterally decide about birth or abortion… without the man having any say about it. So when there's a pregnancy and she enforces it to lead to childbirth against his will (which doesn't matter anyways), what typically happens is a single mother situation. Whereas in the opposite case where he would choose for childbirth but she's opposed to it, what typically happens is abortion and i.e. no single father situation resulting. The fact that the choice of birth…

Abortion is an option that only the woman has, unilaterally. Not the man. AND even if for any reason she unilaterally CHOOSES against that option and for the child to be born (which, again, is a choice that the man, unlike her, doesn't even have)… she still has the additional option of adoption.

I don't see why that would surprise you. On one hand, your line about agnosticism is a good enough approximation of the definition, on the other hand you oddly seem to be surprised about the compatibility of agnosticism with Christianity. So to clear things up: Agnosticism is the position that knowledge (i.e. gnosis) about the existence or inexistence of god(s) is inaccessible, at least for us and for now. agnosticism being an epistemological position purely about the accessibility of knowledge …

In the past, these men would end up as someone's beta husband. Now, there are less available men. Do you think this will affect marriage rates? While I am quite certain that the marriage rates will plummet even far worse, I don't see the above as being the most relevant cause. Instead, the major cause imho is simply that marriage has turned into a legal and financial risk minefield and shitty deal for men. nope. Atheism is merely not holding any belief in any god. That's the only condition (necessary and sufficient) for being an atheist. There is a minority subset of atheists who beyond fulfilling that basic criterion hold a belief in the inexistence of god. Those are so-called positive atheists. The overwhelming majority of atheists are negative atheists. And even among positive atheists, those who hold a "strong belief" in any sense that would be comparable to that of theists… are a minuscule su…

I never understood why it was called the "red pill" It's obviously a reference to the red/blue pill choice scene in the "Matrix" movie, where the red pill allows to see the truth whereas the blue pill leaves you in your prison of lies made to blind you from seeing the truth. Of course, whether or not (or to what degree) that pill analogy is fitting may be a matter of subjective view.

An interesting thing about beauty standards as far as body weight goes is that they seem to be, to quite a degree, influenced by the actual distribution in the population. Exhibit A of this would be the "thicc" wave in the USA (where it was marketed by body/fat positive activists as some type of alternative beauty standard, and does seem to find a lot of pop culture coverage as well as quite a receptive audience and fans)… …whereas in Europe and most of Asia, with their far lower overweight and …

apart from the fact that it's what most of the guys with failed marriages thought as well before it hit them… A marriage doesn't solely depend on whether YOU can pull it off, but also on whether SHE can and whether the two of you can together. The only thing I have against a financial abortion is that the burden of those costs will fall upon taxpayers That's not an argument against financial abortion but a more general argument for making the right to decide to give birth to and/or keep a baby (as opposed to, say, having an abortion or giving the baby for adoption) contingent on being financially capable to shoulder the consequences of that choice. Whoever wants the baby should first make sure that they are capable of adequatly provid…

He didn't write that ALL women would be like that. It's just that there are enough women who have a high libido but have a restricted sociosexual orientation (for whatever reason, he listed a couple possibilities) that the model would at least require those to be taken into account as an additional category.

The irony is that only the lowest gutter trash (FDS being exhibit A) actually exhibit the need to refer to themselves in such royal terms. It's the behavioral equivalent of fakeup: a vain attempt to compensate for their actual utter worthlessness with a projection of fake worth, both verbally and with the entitled attitude. It's common knowledge that the "sub fetish" is way more common than the "dom fetish" for both sexes. Not for both sexes. Only for women. (9.2 times more subs than Doms), whereas for men there are 4.7 times more Doms than subs. The only relevant statistical metric where there appear to be more male subs is not when comparing to the number of male Doms (which, again, is almost 5 times higher) but when comparing to the (almost inexistently small) number of female Doms which would be the natural par…

The real lesson to take home here is that most people don't read the paper nor pay attention to what exactly is compared in the OP title… so that all it takes is a slightly more complex cross-comparison (submissive men vs dominant women) for most people to totally misunderstand the numbers and wrongly assume that men would statistically tend to be submissive and women dominant. It's absolutely flabbergasting, wrong, and not at all what the paper says… The majority of the discussion here is based…

even if we were to equate Dom with "alpha" and sub with "beta"… which has already been heavily contested by others ITT, that would absolutely not be what the numbers in the paper say: there are 4.7 times more men identifying as Dom than men identifying as sub. It's just that the latter are out of luck finding a female Dom(me) because there are almost none.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/09/20 03:03 PM
1

That's not at all what the paper says though, quite the contrary actually. The Dom-to-sub-ratio is 4.7 to 1 among men and 1 to 9.2 among women.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/09/20 02:57 PM
1

Yup it's absolutely flabbergasting. After reading through the comments here, one has to come to the sad conclusion that most people really have problems either with basic reading skills or with numbers. All it takes for so many people to mistakenly believe that a majority of men would be subs is a headline comparing the number of male subs to the number of dominant women… totally ignoring the Dom-to-sub ratio among men and among women.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/09/20 02:53 PM
1

The majority of men want pleasure without having to put too much effort. It's the submissive one that gets to orgasm, not the dominant one. If that's your reasoning, then it would be the majority of women, not of men. The paper clearly shows that there are 4.7 times more men identifying as Dom than men identifying as sub, whereas there are 9.2 times as many women identifying as sub than women identifying as Dom.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/09/20 02:46 PM

This isn't a gender thing- there are more submissive men and women than there are dominant men and women, full stop. That's not at all what the numbers of the paper say. There are 4.7 times more men identifying as Dom than men identifying as sub. The reason why male subs are that much of a special subject in kink statistics is on the other side, i.e. there are statistically almost no dominant women so that submissive men are out of luck for finding a matching partner… as opposed kinky women (bot…
/r/PurplePillDebate17/09/20 02:32 PM
1

While I agree with the general idea that there is more statistical divergence among men, there aren't more submissive men, quite to the contrary: according to the paper, there are waaay more submissive women than submissive men. The difference there is on the female side, that is: while there's enough dominant men to accommodate the demand of submissive women… there's almost no dominant women, so that the minority of men who identify as sub have no luck finding a matching partner
/r/PurplePillDebate17/09/20 02:20 PM

Indeed, it's (of course) more difficult to be dominant. That being said: since there’s a disproportionate lean (towards submissiveness) in the gender who’s apparently supposed to be more naturally dominant (men) ahm no: according to the paper, there's 4.7 times more men identifying as Dom than men identifying as sub. So if there is any disproportion, it's not on that side. The problem of the latter is that almost all kinky women are subs and there are almost no women identifying as Dom. Which is…

No, atheism is the belief that there is no God or gods. The word itself means "without God" Atheism is the absence of belief in gods, i.e. the state of not holding any belief in any god… which is not the same at all as the belief in the absence or inexistence of gods. The latter is so-called positive atheism. Positive atheists are a minority subset of atheists.

If it's not artificial/peroxide blonde (which happens to not be my taste), why not? I haven't seen strong scientific evidence supporting that I shouldn't… E.g. overwhelming evidence that blonde hair color would (compared to other hair colors) per se be a relevant and significant risk indication factor to take into account for the assessment of the statistical risk that a person would turn out being non-monogamous or otherwise incapable of maintaining a stable monogamous long-term relationship or…

Guys that care are insecure Actually the only insecurity is on the side of people who throw around the word "insecure" that way. Insecurity is a fear of inadequacy on YOUR side relatively some criteria (e.g. of the other side). Is liking/having sex a bad thing, though? Hmm ... that's missing the point. Liking/having sex is totally independent of n-count. A high (or low) n-count doesn't say anything about how much a person likes or has sex. In fact, lots of low n-count people love sex and have tons of it, they just do it with the same partner instead of changing partners often… which points to the problem: high n-count does say a lot about how likely it is that a person will (more or less) soon be jumping into bed with …

Conversely, it's neither necessary nor sufficient for a guy to have sex with her for the birth to happen. while I'd subjectively agree (being a straight guy myself) that women are "more aesthetically pleasing than men", the 80/20 split you mention, even if approximately correct (which I'm not even so sure of at all) wouldn't be evidence for it. The reason being: the split might just reflect the gender split among famous artists, which for the longest part of history was definitely more than 80/20 in favor of men… thus leading to the statistical split in their preferences… and their art.
