Its like you didn't read the article or my post. The prosecution did not believe they could get a conviction, and offered a plea deal. It doesn't matter if you or I think its murder, it matters if they can convince 12 jurors. And they believed they couldn't.

Because sadly its a one way ticket to getting the worst treatment legally allowable. If you cooperate and aren't interesting, you are free to go. If you get arrested on suspicion of something and won't talk, enjoy your weekend in jail.

This is why you always have an attorney present, they know your chances better than anyone, especially because they have inside knowledge of the case that the prosecution doesn't have. Sometimes its a good deal, some trials can last weeks, and that is so much tome for the prosecution to keep digging.

Did you guys even read the article, the prosecution didn't believe they could convict her on murder charges, so they got her to sign a plea deal for lesser charges. The only real evidence they had that it was homicide was her statements, and she had made multiple conflicting reports and was not a credible witness to anything. If anything, I think the problem is with the sentencing for criminally negligent homicide. I think it needs a wider range of sentences, because it covers a very broad categ…
